Great performance!!! And the use of baroque organ by your collaborative artist was the best choice that I heard for such an orchestra reduction! Very good!! Congratulations!
@jmkkpunk Good luck to you too!! Yeah, I TOTALLY feel your pain; I got the music mid-February, and we're supposed to have it by April. I'm sensing an immenent fail. xD
@chiangee13 Can I suggest you listen to the tempo of most of the major recordings of this concerto and tell me how this differs from those? I think it may sound a little slower because there's a little more air in the way they're playing it as opposed to some other recordings that are a little fuller with the style of sound.
If you're talking about Yo-yo Ma, I would say that's an overstatement. Ma is an amazing cellist, but I wouldn't say the best...possibly Rostropovich or du Pre? Just my opinion...
both those people are dead.. Rostropovich was an amazing cellist but he passed away and well.. you cant be the best when youre dead.. i was a big fan though...
I stand by what I said lol. Rostropovich definitely has the scales / trills, but I still think as far as over-all style is concerned this performance wins. Rostropovich in my opinion is slightly too heavy in his bowing.
Bravossimo! The sound you produced on the cello is really... impressive. I believe you have a really good cello, and your bowing is such mastery. I love what I hear. To me, this is a really rare treasure on youtube. The organ emulating the accompanying orchestra convinced me, absolutely.
Oh my goodness I am left speechless, you inspire me to play the cello again!
I started playing when I was 8 and its almost 10 years now, but the way you just played that piece, was magical! Now that is how you play a cello, I seriously applaud you, absolutely incredible, thank you for reminding me how beautiful that instrument truly is, thank you so much!
I'm a violist too and I've been in love with the piece since the first time I heard it, I was looking for the transcription and found it, IT got here yesterday. IF you are interested in the music let me know and I will tell you where you can get it. If you want to listen to an expectacular performance of it, search William Molina he is a Venezuelan violoncellist and does a great job...
We play this concerto in the schoolorchestra, but the girl who plays it is not half good as you (sry my english). nice idea to play this piece in a church.
I'd like to see you posting some tipe of videos teaching us, the viewers; i realy like your technique and i would like to learn some of you tricks... even though i enjoy your videos! Congratulations
Thank you for this vid! I'm practising this piece for my final exam in a german school. You gave me some great new ideas. Keep on doing this, it's always great fun and inspiration. I would also love to hear the second movement!
Could you maybe start the 5th and 6th cello suite? I also want to hear the Monn cello concerto. I don't think it is on youtube yet so it would be nice to hear it first.
Just great,as usual! U both play very well, and this version with organ accompaniment sounds really interesting and original, never heard before. Thanks for another video of great cello playing, and my complyments also to the pianist-organist! BRAVO for both of U guys!!
You play this movement beautifully, very good in style, though I have problems with the organ as accompaniment. You should play this with orchestra. But anyhow: bravo and 5 red stars!

Wonderful saltando! I envy that. I have to be so much farther out in the bow to make it even and it keeps it from being that articulate.
