We Northern fish up in the Yukon and NWT.Right after the ice melts(June 18)season opens at the 15th.Some of the lakes we go no one ever fished on and we'll catch "Gators"45+inch in less then 2 feet water at shore/weeds.The water never gets warmer then 48-50 so the smaller"Roughnecks"are awesome for shore lunch.Don't u just love it when u pull in a 24 inch pike and right by the Boat a 40+inch grabs it and u get both in.
I gotta agree with MLGrunescape, the majority of the fish caught on this video are kind of small. The strikes are awesome though, that's for sure! The one at 2:04 is the best!
bro stop being a pussy and putting those like 2 inches from the camera to make em look bigger then they really are god damn almost all of those were under 30 inches
@ButeoLineatus "Northern" . . . Alaska . . . north and alaska is pretty isolated so they can thrive relatively well undisturbed compared to other places
@someduderob I don't know what you mean by undisturbed. I'm from California and we do not want those pikes in any of our fisheries. They decimate bass/salmon/trout/frog populations; they're almost like a weed in that they are extremely difficult to get rid of.
I imagine that they do okay in Alaska. The region with the best salmon production in the world; pikes can only eat so many fish ya know.
I have so much fun fly fishing. We don't have pike here in New Brunswick but we do have Chain pickerel, in the same family but don't get much over the 30 inch mark.
I just can't get enough of it and never tire of watching the wake before the explosions.
I watched your video a few times and loved it. I even added it to one of my fly fishing blogs.

Fly fishing for pike is amazing, one of my absolute favourite fishing technique. We're fly fishing for northern pike here in Swedish Lapland every spring (middle of May to the end if June) and autumn. The biggest Ive go so far is 111 cm long. :-) Were using big flies thats 10-15 cm long.
Fantactic! Very Good, brief but intense

A aftm 8-9 is perfect to pike here in Sweden. Use BIG flies! about 20-30 cm long.
