1) bites of a mild cheese, such as gouda (I enjoy eating cheese on a cracker; I recommend delser (yes, small D!) brand crackers, which have olive oil and rosemary)
2) regular sips of wine
3) puffs from your cigar of the night
Try it! You will find that neither the cheese nor the cigar overwhelms the other. On the contrary, I usually end up wanting the next element in the pattern about 1.3 seconds after the one I am enjoying at the moment!
Cheese... oh I love cheese, and yes it is very much a perfect partner to wine. I've tried chocolate and almonds with scotch and a cigar, but never really considered or played around with a cheese pairing. Love the idea, thank you. This is something I will have to explore!
Of course, wine and cheese as a combination has been around so long that I feel nearly compelled to hyphenate between them, but unfortunately a lot of people say that cigars and cheese are not a good combination; that you should save the cigar for after the cheese. I have found, though, that by following a certain pattern, they enhance one another. (to be continued)
I like to make my own wine, Malbec, Port, cab, pinot noir, they go sooo well with a good cigar, not to mention a good scotch whiskey, but it's hard to let the wine age for a year (min) or more before tapping, too tempting to drink young.
A beautiful combination, indeed. And tempting I would imagine yes, but the patience pays off with a great story and wine to enjoy! What a great experience :)
I am a med-to-full bodied red wine guy...usually a Cabernet whenever I'm out having cigars with friends or by myself. I'm also a huge fan of ports as well...a good port with a cigar is heaven
Try nice dark chocolate with a good cigar ( I recommend a Romeo Y Julietta No.2). Very tasty! And if you like scotch, a glass of Highland Park 12yo.

I love a good port with a cigar- agreed, it is heaven. Wine and cigars with friends is pretty heavenly, too.
