  • This Council area is now infested with rats but this incompetent and dishonest Council sends out a notice to Mrs Mallone now aged 84 years old who has an immaculately maintained garden, stating her land has the potential to attract and harbour vermin.

The only thing that has the potential to attract and harbour vermin are the chambers at Canterbury City Council Sydney NSW Australia

  • I have lived in Undercliffe and Earlwood all my life

have you never walked down Riverview road when it's raining ?

storm water pours down the cliff faces , straight on to the nature strip

is that local councils job to fix a residents shoddy storm water run off ?

and in your video you show water flowing off sandstone near the top of Parry steps

should that be the councils problem too ?

maybe get a life and stay out of the rain

your video camera will last longer

  • @1949earl

    1. Except for the trickling water at the 50 sec mark, all the water shown on this video is from the roadways above that COUNCIL directs to the cliffs - not private property.

    2. I repeat, the stormwater is Councils stormwater collected & directed to the cliffs.

    3. Nevertheless, shoddy work on private property, is Councils problem especially when it is damaging. Not Council dollars but Council management.

  • @1949earl

    4. In approx 1999/2000 Council spent a huge amount of ratepayers money on stabilising the cliffs below Parry Steps (directly opposite the ESR workshop).

Why 1949earl? The answer is because 10 yrs earlier in 1990, this incompetent Council addressed Council stormwater that it had directed at Mrs Mallone's property for decades (causing damage to her property) by redirecting it to Bayview Lane...to Parry Steps...to the cliffs & with the help of trees major instability issues occurred.

  • @1949earl

    5. Why did they do that 1949earl? Because to do that redirection, Council realigned the roads above, installed guttering and directed it at the cliff. Odd, when Mrs Mallone's neighbouring property has a drainage easement that was specifically set aside to direct the Council stormwater straight down in a cliff area that would not impact anyone. That drainage easement has been in place for 60 plus years but this Council preferred & prefers, to ignore it & just waste ratepayers money.

  • @1949earl

    6. Now just 10 years on, the Council reports show, they will be doing stabilisation works and tree removals again in the same area, next year.

Rather than waste our money fixing the problems this water creates, would it not be better to feed the Council stormwater in a pipe.

In future 1949earl, it would be more beneficial to all, that instead of sitting at home whinging about people, possibly whinging about the costs & of Council rates, get off your backside & do something,

  • @1949earl

In future, don't just look at the pretty pictures, have a go at reading the commentary. If it is too fast for you, there is a pause button there.

Or low and behold, even the comments submitted before yours clearly identify it as COUNCIL STORMWATER. There is also the video description.

You do understand don't you, that your rates are not just for CANTERBURY CITY COUNCIL to collect your garbage. STORMWATER management is just one. PLANNING is another. EFFICIENCY is another. etc.

  • @1949earl The footpath is on the northern side of Riverview Rd-not the southern side were water maybe pouring down the cliff. Stormwater from each property in that area is running down their own property. SPREADOUT EVENLY.

Instead, Parry Steps & footpath below are utilised by pedestrians, not insects on nature strip. The stormwater dumped at end of Bayview Lane & near foot of Parry Steps is from properties directing their stormwater to the Council system & COUNCIL directing it to the cliffs.

  • Why does Mrs Mallone have to sign a confidentiality agreement with Council lawyers to find out what irresponsible, incompetent and negligent Council actions and inactions have taken place that have a direct impact on her land and the safety of people below it?

The link to this document is in the main video comment.

  • Council directs its stormwater into Mrs Mallone's property.

Council refuses her & others permission to remove damaging trees from the cliff tearing it apart.

Council refuses to address or even inform her of whether major works on a neighbouring property were approved by Council. Works that experts indicated was having a major impact on the instability of the cliff.

Yet, Council states: the cliff collapsing on people is her problem.

The NSW Ombudsman FAILED this dishonest Council.

  • The Council stormwater that you see here is nothing compared to the stormwater that entered Mrs Mallone's property for decades before aldermen were called in to put a stop to Council refusing to correct it's negligence.
