Rip current and tide rip are not the same thing. Rip currents occur in surf areas where narrow channels in the bottom carry water from the surf back out to sea. Tide rips are turbulent water caused by fast tidal currents going through narrow passages or over shoals or around points of land. Tide rips can be powerful eddies, standing waves or whirlpools. You can see all three of these in the video. Rip currents not easily visible, but they are a danger to swimmers at surf beaches.
