I Currently have one of these BUT its Missing the BeLL end ( red part in the back that Holds the brushes ) If anyone knows where I can get that part, OR if your interested in just Buying thew Unit from me make an Offer ... It does spin, Just needs The Motor Bell end
@metwrench . Not to worry, As mentioned above the parts are available from B&M siren in California who still manufacture this siren and two others. Click on the "chevron icon" at the lower part of the video on the right side.. The web address is there. Best of luck!
Yeah, they have a great sound.. As many folks probably don't realize. They are still available brand new from B&M sirens in California.
If you check my favorites there is clip of myself driving an old ford cab over Fire Engine using this same siren.. Although you can't see it, it's mounted inside the wheel well. It sounds sweet!!
Nope, the siren on Engine 51 in the first few episodes is a "dubbed" direct drive siren. This one is a coaster. Although B&M sirens were used in many Crown Apparatus that I have seen.
If you look at that Crown Fire Engine from the TV series Emergency it does'nt even have an electo-mechanical siren. It has an electronic siren with a chrome cp25 siren speaker flush mounted in the front of the cab. Almost all the sirens are dubbed in the series. Sad really.
I did notice that it did have a flush-mounted electronic siren speaker and I knew the sirens were dubbed, but I just wasn't sure of the authenticity of the siren used for old Engine 51, i.e., was it a tape recording of a real B&M siren or something else? For example: The taped siren for the WLF was an actual Federal Q siren. Thanks.
Yeah, thank goodness the sound guys got that Q siren right!! Unfortunately it's used over and over.
I hear ya. I don't know what that direct drive siren is? I sure it's not a B&M. It does'nt sound close to the direct drive B&M in my clips. Maybe someone reading this in the future can help us out?
Come to think of it. They used that same siren for many other emergency vehicles in the series. From Ambulances to other apparatus.
OK, She's not running quite as she should in this clip..The coast is shorter than it should be. Wrong style bearings. I've since added new steel sided bearings from B&M and brushes. It coasts as long as M7 it's linked to now.
And it coasts way longer than it's closest competition!!
I set mine off on new years eve at midnight!!

r any of your sirens going to get wet and get rust on them if they are outside?
NJFire1906 2 years ago
Of course they would not stand up well if they were left outside in the BC westcoast weather. They are only tested outside due to the noise issue.

The B&M sirens are just beautiful. I got one 6V B&M sirodrift from 1935 and it's by far my favorite siren.
Great video!

Would this be the siren that was taped for the original Crown pump on the TV show "Emergency?" It sounds a little different than that one.

You're right. In fact they even used the Q for Squad 51 a few times!!!
RDG484 3 years ago
I've yet to see that one. That's just darn right emberassing!!
The next season of "Emergency" is out next month!
911caddy 3 years ago
That was Engine 51(Ward-La France) in the 2nd season start, prior to that was a Crown coach w/nose mount factory siren,
squad 51 had an old 60's wale tone, with hi-lo horn.
Hell, I am surprised i even recalled that,,,
