"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy.......................For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing. "
I have always loved this movie since I first saw it on HBO when cable first came out. What I didn't know was that my mom's Aunt Edna's husband perished on the INDIANAPPOLIS they never talked about it. Just that she never had a body to bury and people would say they saw a man that looked like him at some restaurant in the next town over and she would go and look to see if it was him. For the first five years after she never stopped searching for him. Our grandparents made such a sacrifice 4 us
If JAWS was remade today by Universal Pictures, who would be the best actors out there to play Brody/Hooper/Quint? It would be very tough to create the chemistry of Roy Scheider/Richard Dreyfeuss/Robert Shaw in the original JAWS.
Hooper (the shark scientist) was suppose to be killed in the film JAWS, but, because they had film footage of a real great white shark smashing an empty anti-shark cage, they had to change the script. Hooper lives, Quint dies. In the novel, both Hooper and Quint die, and just Brody lives.
Want to know why Peter Benchley's character in JAWS was named just QUINT? Because there were 5 people killed by the great white shark, and Quint (meaning 5 in latin) would be the 5th person and last person killed.
You're right of course, but Spielberg originally wanted Lee Marvin for the role, and then Stirling Hayden. Neither was available for whatever reasons. So, he decided on Robert Shaw.
Good video, Quint was the best, but he died as an hero and he will be remembered always in the movie and in the real life. R.I.P Robert Shaw and Quint

and hooper has an affair with brody's wife

They built a 2/3rds size cage and attracted full size White Sharks to it to get this footage of the cage attack - so that was planned.
I expect Brody not dieing in the film was a 'hollywood' change so the audiences didn't get too upset. Of course they also skipped the affair too...

Just think, if it wasn't for Robert Shaw being in The Sting he wouldn't have been in Jaws. Nobody can play the role of Quint better than Robert Shaw.
