This used to be a very good monastery. A friend of mine was a monk there in the early 90's. When he came back 10 years later, he hardly recognized the place - it has become a tourist trap and countless people who know nothing of the real teachings now call themselves Shaolin and tour the world to make money.

Muay thai derivates from kung fu. It's a art that tranning and prepares only your body not your spirit, not uses the chi gong. dont exists kung fu without chigong. muay thai destroys yours bones into years of trannig, instead kung fu you can tranning along the all life.

and if u think kung fu is too deadly look at krav maga instead of mma they train killing techiniques and put it to practice

Well a UFC or MMA trains very hard all the days. They always fight in rings but what about streets? There is not a confortable ring you know? there are people with knives and lot of dangerous stuff. So any MMA or UFC fighter would quickly die with no chance. In streets you don't grope your oponent...

Yea me too, that would be awsome. But the reason is because that style is pretty much too lethal to be used in for example MMA competitions. Is just illegal for using them in sports.

kungfu has moved too much toward performing and has lost its identity

gone are the days of trying to prove your skill and school are the best

now its all about back flips and cart wheels

also the kid kicking the punching bag had pretty weak kicks which points to style over substance

I'm sure a real shaolin kung fu monk would be able to KO anyone in a mma setting. I don't know why you are referring to these kids ethier. the reason their kicks are weak is because they are kids. I'm sure an adult shaolin monk wouldn't have weak kicks. there are a lot of people who flip and do tricks but being able to do a kick and a flip doesn't make you weaker , it only makes you stronger at the basic kicks. you can't judge everyone is weak with kicks because they can flip and do cartwheels.

chinese boxing is about fast strikes , over slow and powerful ones the point is not to over commit yourself for single strike . You'll get punched ten times for every strike you do .
