Man Ric Flair is pathetic, this guy shits on TNA in one interview then next thing you know he turns up on the washed up shores of that very company. Kudos to Bret for telling like it is, I have no respect for Flair or his pathetically missguided fanbase who mostly just kiss his ass out of blind worship.
He's right. Rick Flair is overrated. He wasn't a great performer but he could talk. His matches are shit. The same nonsense all over again, it looks like a fucking comedy routine not an actual match.
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes Bret Hart headlined that event at Wembey Stadium WITH the British Bulldog, in England. Vince did that on purpose. Anywhere else on the planet the Macho Man and The Ultimate Warrior would have been the main event.
The top 3 in-ring performers go in this order.....The Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart, then Michaels. Dynamite innovated all of the high flying stuff back in the Stampede Wrasslin days. Hart is, was, and will always be the most sound technician ever. HBK took to the high flyin' stuff because his in-ring psychology was not quite there. He needed to do the over-the-top stuff to make up for his in-ring lack of ability. A Flair, over-rated wrestler but good mic guy!!
HEY GUY. I WANT YOU TO TAKE A SECOND AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE. IT WAS HBK VS THE WORLD. HOGAN, HALL, NASH, STEINERS, LUGER, STING..........YOU NEED TO STOP AND THANK HBK FOR WRESTLING STILL BEING ON TELEVISION. IF WCW WOULDVE WON............................
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes Ahhh, my old friend. I've had many a debate with you before.
Hart was not THE headliner of that show. If anyone was THE headliner at Wembley Stadium, it was the British Bulldog. The only reason Bulldog & Hart went on last was because it was Bulldog and in England.
Had that show been in the states, the final match would've been Warrior vs Savage.
Ric can't say shit about Hart at all. Hart is top 3 with Stone Cold and HBK in the greatest ever. Ric isn't in the league of hart and only thing Ric has was him being 39 years in the buissness to have more belts.
But HBK and Hart has less belts than him so in my eyes Ric is neither on those two level. RIc best match was with Sting.
Bret Hart is one of the top three best in-ring guys, but he is third in line after Michaels and Flair. And as far as his mic skills...........I challenge you to watch Bret try to cut a promo in the ring with Flair or Michaels and not fall asleep. He couldn't talk, period. If you want proof, just look at his career in World Championship Wrestling. Case closed.
Watch Bret Hart on Nitro after Owen died. He talks about Owen for just a little bit and then he continues on to talk about himself. All he did was talk about himself. His brother just died and he is talking about himself. Look it up. What Bret did that night was a complete disgrace.
Hart is right on the money on this one, I hate Flair, I was actually stupid enough to pick up Ric's 3 disc DVD the only wrestling DVD that I am ashamed of watching, Flair was no wrestler and for Flair to use the excuse that since he wrestled all of these top names that Hart never wrestled that therefore makes Flair a greater wrestler then Hart ever was. What always bothered me about Flair is he was so modest about how great of a wrestler, and in his memoir he gets his friends to beef him up.
You idiots can talk shit on Flair all day long. 16 times the world champion. 20 years on top. You are just too young to have ever seen Flair is his prime. Bret Hart was ok at best, but he will never be anything close to an Austin, Rock or Shawn Michaels. You are never gonna here someone say Bret Hart is the greatest of all time. You'll here Ric Flair is the greatest or HBK, but never Bret Hart.
Unfortunately for u there r fucking legions of fans out there including myself that disagree.Bret was THE MAN. It blows my mind when people try & talk up Stone Cold & The Rocks in ring skills. Theyre in a similar category to Hogan & Warrior. Granted they were awesome on the mic and/or had solid gimmicks - thats as far as it goes.Different elements of the sport appeal to different people. Me..I love wrestling for wrestling always have.Im indifferent to storylines & entrance music.
@dmack1111111 well ric and shawn could tell you what vince had for breakfast flair is all politics and the same with shawn look at flair a stroke waiting to happen on tna he's great on the mic as the #1 windbag
I'd like someone to tell me what made Bret Hart any better than........Chris Benoit, for example? Benoit was allowed to get the belt, after 20 years But they knew he couldn't carry the belt for long Bret is big outside of the US But he's a natural mid-carder here That said What he said about Ric is also true Ric is a hell of a salesman But his work isn't all that great But in wrestling People don't buy the steak They buy the sizzle Bret Hart NEVER sizzled! ECW took off when he was the champ
Flair also had done nothing in wrestling for 20 god damn years had a failed run in WWF as champ, was overshiend by bigger name talent in WCW, retured to WWE and wrestled as the old guy in the mid card. Flair is now in TNA after taking a huge shit on Vince and still doing the same old shit and destroyng AJ Styles while he is at it. So everthing I have wrote does this make Ric Flair a big star or a overated hyprocrete PLEASE SHEARE YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!!!!
Flair does the same shit everynight wrestles Steamboat as he does Khali chop woos and fall on his face. Bret wrestles a diffrent way every night just watch Wrestlemania 10 where he were he wrestles Owen and Yoko to completly diffrent matches.
St. Louis wasnt even a big market for WWF there never even been a Wrestlemania there more signs that Flair is full of shit. he says Bret never wrestled Broody or Hanson so that doesnt makes him a Star. Rock or Austin never wrestled them there from the same era as Bret so there not stars.
Flair is full of shit. He says Bret never dawed money in WWF but IT WAS FLIAR YOU WHO NEVER DREW MONEY ANYWHERE!!!!! Ric Flair says WWF tried to get rid of Hart but they tried to get rid of you. Flair never main evented Wrestlemania failed as champ didn't drawed a time never even got to Wrestlemania 9 he bomb so bad. He says Bret never went to St. Louis so that makes him not a big star is he a moron Maybe if he wrestled for the NWA WHICH HE NEVER DID.
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes, 100% correct Also Bret revolutionized wrestling more then either hbk or flair ever did, ie it was Brets idea to introduce a ladder match format into wrestling, another thing is without the Vince / Bret fued back in 97 (the screwjob) Mr Mcmahan the evil character we all know now would never of been created. Brets matches were the best he always made it look real, and although i dont like hbk he can certainly entertain were as flair's matches look stale and phony.
i agree 100 percent. though it can be argued that shawn is as much an innovator of the ladder match as bret, as he was bret's opponent in the first ladder match, and lost, before going on to lose and win against razor, bret was a much better wrestler than ric or shawn, tho i am also big fans of theirs as well.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
By your comments I believe that you are young. Flair has not been what he was but at this point he is almost sixty years old. Back in the eighties and the early nineties he and Hogan were by far the two best personalities out there. Hart never got close to what they achieved. Sandman? PLEASE!! Flair has more talent in one toenail than that hack ever had.
I agree. To me, even as a kid I always saw Ric Flair as someone's old dad who accidentally got into a fight because of his big mouth. And yes, he is great on the mic, but in the day. WWF had Hogan who looked the part and WCW's flagship guy was Flair who of course just looked like some flabby dude running for senate. I'll never underestimate Flair's work ethic, but his routine was tired!...
I have to agree Ric flairs work was not inspiring over the years. He was always just a really cool bad guy. I saw him and Hogan recently. He glared at the crowd so convincingly. But is moves are hell boring.
I have to agree with what Bret said about the spot where Flair flies into the corner and over the ropes onto his feet then runs to the opposite corner and climbes the ropes. There's not a single fan that can take that routine seriously, and even worse...as flair aged he would botch that spot over and over and over. Look at WM18.
mcmahonhater, you know shit about wrestling fans. you say that we would have forgotten about eddy if he took the proper time to heal? hey moron, wrestling fans have very long memories. no way in hell would we have forgotten eddy.
well stated Bret. If Bret and Flair got in a real fight, would Flair even last 30 seconds? Imagine if Bret was in his prime, Flair's face would implode.
straits... Did you know Jimmy Hart was in the 60s band The Gentrys that has a #1 single Keep on Dancing? Its pretty funny, i really love the Mouth of the South and hope he goes to TNA... cant diss the KERR-Null right? (that was random)
Ric Flair.. i am so sick of you talking shit about everybody! Give it up! You are an old man who can't grow up. You are 61 and should NOT be wrestling (Especially without a shirt..yuck). Mr. Flair is so desperate for cash and fame he has to go wrestle Grandpa Hogan (awful matches) in Australia and now go to TNA?!?! This is the man who said "What's TNA?".. Ric Flair and Hogan too... i loved these guys... what happened!?!?!? It's like the Mickey Rourke's character in the Wrestler AWFUL
i am all over youtube giving my personal opinions, and i respect the opinions and arguments of others. However, WE MUST FACE THE FACTS... Flair is arrogant, he is a jerk, he goes out of his way to insult people (those he now WORKS for), an dhe is a tragic figure. He made a mockery of legacy, his fans, etc. and that is fact. Not fiction.
ok, you want to speak your mind on flair, hey I aint stopping ya. BUT for YOU to say that his 35+ years of his involvement in this sport makes hm arrogant, I disagree with you on this.
@SAMMYJS991 I have loved and respected the Nature Boy for over 20 years and he is truly one of the all time greats.. i just upset when i contstantly hear him talk bad about others, and go out of his way to do so.. and i dont like how he made a mockery of his retirement. Flair going to TNA is sad, but the guy made poor choices in life and needs money.... that is the hardest part for me about Flair and Hogan.... for all they have done for the sport..the success..the money.. to be in such dire
"Actual" wrestling? It's F-A-K-E, man! Without the epic feuds and storylines, the heels and faces, it's just meaningless garbage. And 99% of the storylines today and since 1997 (which they build up for all of 1-2 months now) are lame. Watching two guys grab each other for 30 minutes without a great storyline is lame. That's all I'm saying.
You need to check out some of the wrestlers hospital bills and then try and tell me it's f-a-k-e. The truth is wrestlers are exploited and abused but the indastry they bust there ass's for. If anybody ever needed a union it was wrestlers. Then of course Vince would have to pay them a certain scale, and the coast would flow down to the coast of tickets, and allot of fans would stop buying because they are mostly selfish ass holes.
It's kind of ironic. Wrestlers from back in the 80's abused their bodies with steroids to look bulkier but most of them weren't addicted to pain killers because there was no requirement for them to work "stiff" in the ring or take "hardkore bumps d00d" or staple gun each other.
These days, they have to appease marks like you and that GolfShoes guy by killing themselves in the ring and working "stiff". Benoit had brain damage from taking actual chair shots to the head.
Not me brother. In fact I was watching the HBk/Angle match from Mania 21 today, and I thought it was amazing and well paced. I also thought "If this was Malenco/Storm and they were stoping for all these 'rest hold" the fans would be chanting BORING. Thise are the stupid marks, I love a match that actually has grapling in volved.
Indeed, but as I said, if it were Storm vs Malenco with all those "Rest Holds" (as I've heard them called) there would have been a huge boring chant. I think that is the reason why allot of guys pretty much kill themselves to apease idiots who don't know what makes a really good match.
Let me take another swing at this. I am assuming your definition of workrate is lots of high spots, reversals, counter-reversals, lots of New Japan/Lucha Libre looking shit and 30 minute matches with little context or lame storylines involving Hornswoggle.
My definition of good storytelling is epic feuds built up over months and matches that actually tell a story. Example: Warrior squashing Honky Tonk Man in 30 secondds after his 15 month title run: EPIC story.
...or criss-cross spots leading to a double clothesline, they were all telling a story. Hogan trying to bodyslam Andre, failing, then getting it the second time, that told a story in the ring. A move as simple as a bodyslam could tell a story.
That is much more entertaining than watching "vanilla midgets" trading German suplexes with no context. Unless you're into that sort of thing. Maybe you'd enjoy it if they were rolling around in oil or mud...
I think you fail to see that storytelling has nothing to do with "workrate". Two little guys trading wristlocks and doing little flippy-flop moves off the top rope isn't storytelling.
Watch the Hogan-Warrior match at WM VI. The whole match tells a story. They're not worried about "workrate". But every spot, every move, every moment tells a story that ultimately culminates in a climactic conclusion. Even the unrealistic stuff they used to do, like "tests of strength".....
So without the great storylines, what are you watching? What is this business about "workrate" anyway? You might as well be watching ballet. Except it's two guys grunting and grabbing each other. Actually, you workrate homos did get guys like Chris Benoit, who had no personality and sucked on the mic, to the top of the card.
I remember marking out when the Megapowers split up, when the Warrior beat Hogan, when Flair showed up in the WWF, when Undertaker beat Hogan, when Hart beat Yokozuna at WM X, when the two Undertakers feuded...all good "entertainment". If I wanted to watch two men rolling around trading wristlocks and hugging on each other, I'd order me some gay porno.
So if I am a "mark" because I like to suspend my belief with great storylines and feuds, then what is the alternative? The workrate freaks who basically enjoy watching two men in tights or short pants jump and roll around? The sadistic hardcore freaks who want to see guys get legitimately hurt with staple guns and exploding light bulbs? Because that's "hardkore d00d"?
Nonsense. These aren't 'rasslin fans. They're just sick kids with daddy issues. I am old enough to have enjoyed Hulkamania.
Yeah, 10 years from now, we're going to forget all about those classic Steamboat-Flair matches in the old NWA. We're going to forget all about how Hogan, Savage and Piper introduced sports-entertainment to the mainstream. Hulkamania, Piper's pit, the Megapowers and the Horsemen. All we're going to remember is Sandman hitting people with a cane. And Foley trying to kill himself by falling through the top of a cage. Because staple guns are more entertaining.
A landmark from a dated and near forgettabble period in the wrestling business? So the golden age of sports-entertainment was a forgettable period in the wrestling business? That is quite the statement.
All true and apparentlly me and Bret and a few others are smart enough to know to use our eyes and not be brainwashed by the promoters tht flair sucks in the ring and Cena can have a better match than him. Time went by and flair did not learn one new move. Not a damn one! Same ol shitttt which was chops backdrops and low blows oh yeah his figure four
Bret Hart was a pretty good performer but I can name at least ten including Flair that were and are better. Steamboat , Savage , Austin , The Rock , Michaels , Undertaker , just to name a few. Brett Hart is nuts to even bring up Foley. He probably thought Sandman was a great wrestler too.
@rstryker27 you know ric flair proved that he is hates it and even is probably jealous when other people mention guys like foley. I remember him saying on RAW that he hated it when people would talk about Mick Foley falling off the steel cage instead of talking about him
Foley is far better then Sandman, and he is much more respected for his knowleged of the mental side of wrestling. The Rock isn't even in Hart's league as a ring worker, and I would say the same about Taker. Austin is pretty close, and Hart always spoke well of Savage, and wanted to work with steamboat. Nobody could sell better then Hart, and he never injured anybody in 24 years, that is what makes him the best.
The Sandman remark was meant as sarcasm since he sucked so bad. Pour beer in his mouth , stomp down to the ring , start beating on someone with a cane . That was it. His entire wrestling gig. To quote Ric Flair from his book " Hardcore became a niche for a lot of guys who couldn't do fuck-all in the ring". I agree and put Foley in that group. As for Hart himself , I could take him or leave him. His whining and bitterness sort of ruined him for me.
Flair is the last guy who should talk about somebody making money off a nich (Chop Chop wooo). The only whining and bitterness that comes out of Bret is during interviews, he can't help it if people keep brining up SS97 or his brothers death.
I like Bret but he never had Flair's charisma. Flair did more than just chops (wooooo) but who gives a flying fuck about "workrate" anyway. He was entertaining. He was entertaining on the mic and in the ring. So what if it was over the top? This...is...enter...tainment. And if he had the same 5 mobes, so the fuck what? At least he's healthy enough to enjoy his family and the rest of his life. You can't say the same for Guerrero or Benoit. But oh yea they had good "workrate d00d!
Guerrero died becuase the indastry would have passed him buy if he had taken proper time to recover from his accident. The fans are fickle and would have forgotten about him.
Benoit ended the way he did because he had brain damage from all the chair shots he took (and probably other things too). If wrestling had a strict health and safty program he might still be alive to day.
If wrestling had a strict health and safety program it would lose half the fanbase. If they banned hardcore exploding lightbulb staple the other guy in the testicles matches, the deranged sadistic males would find something else to watch.
If they enforced safety in the ring, the internet smark workrate freaks would get bored because they wouldn't be able to work "stiff" and "real" and hit each other in the head with chairs because these idiots won't be entertained otherwise.
Sure. Ric Flair was great on the mic. But when it came to actually wrestling, Ric Flair couldn't lace up Bret Hart's boots. Bret was a true champion and a true wrestler. Flair always does his same comedic falls in the ring, the throw me off the turnbuckle, chop the chest until it is beyond red, and dance and do a figure 4. Bret Hart was different in every match, and he told a story. Bret Hart hands down was a better wrestler than Ric Flair ever could be.
ric flair is funny in the ring sometimes like when he takes a couple steps and falls flat on his face. the thing is im not looking for funny. i want realism not a cartoon like flair and michaels.
Last time I checked, these guys are in the entertainment business. The wrestlers that made wrestling mainstream...like Hogan, were not really going for realism, were they? It IS a friggin' cartoon and that's what made it great. If you want realism, go watch UFC.
i am aware that wrestling is fake. but the guys that do it best (bret, bulldog, martel...) are the ones that push for more realism, so that my suspension of belief doesn't have to stretch so far.
Nothing wrong with that. It makes it easier to suspend belief. But the over the top stuff is what made wrestling entertainment. Andre and Hogan didn't wrestle a 5 star match at WM III but they still made history.
Savage vs Steamboat wouldn't have sold out the Pontiac Silverdome. If you think technical "wrestling" is a better product than great entertainment, then you are a mark. Pure and simple. You may realize the outcomes are predetermined but your need to suspend your belief is so great, you would pretend two guys jumping around in tight pants and feuding over a fake injury is more entertaining than an epic match that was many years in the making!
I agree that Savage/Steamboat wouldn't have sold out the Silverdome, but it is the fans who choose the "entertainment" side of the buisness over the athletic skill of the performers who are the marks. I don't think Technical "wrestling" is a better product then great entertainment, I think it is great entertainment. The only thing epic about Hogan/Andrea was the integraty Andre showed and that Hogan never payed forward to anybody else.
WM III drew around 78, 000 and if you think the only reason was Hogan/Andre (which still wouldn't support your argument) then you're the mark. Pure and simple.
For the record the highest turnout for a WWE event was '92 Summerslam headlined by Bret Hart and Davey Boy, both technical wrestlers.--777
You people don't really know what you're talking about.
Bret was primarily trained (a lot of it is learn as you go) by Stu Hart along with Hito and Kazuo Sakurada. But that was just one of the many errors I'm seeing from you marks.--777
Good book and I'm sure it's 100% accurate in Bret's mind.
34 years following this business (mostly Japan) and without question Bret Hart is my fav in-ring performer.
That said Flair is the best pro wrestler in my lifetime. He's the total package and has a resume NO ONE can match.
I understand you drinking Bret's Kool-aid but he was always jealous of the attention Flair got (similar w/HBK) so his criticisms should be taken with a grain of salt. Appreciate your comments.--777
How can Bret be the best in-ring performer but Flair be the best wrestler. His promos were the ramblings of a senile old man, and he was a clown in the ring.
The dynamite kid is the greatest wrestler ever bret hart said so himself and so did davey boy ric flair sucks shawn michaels is a good athlete i just wish bret and shawn would kiss and make up on raw they had an excellent match at wm 12 and hope they can bury the hatchet but i guess that's up to bret although i have heard that bret does forgive him and wants shawn to apologise first wheather that's fact or not i don't know
agree flairs full of sh1t but brets a bit of a hypocrite regarding a few things,he says chops are phony but he didnt mind taking mr perfects & benoits.while flair chopped in every match, bret punched, where flair did his upside down turnbuckle, bret did his face first turnbuckle, surely bret didnt think that looked real ?
i know what you mean about the chops, but the front turnbuckle was absolutely meant to look real. why is it that every time someone is sent into the turnbuckle at full speed do they turn around? if they can turn around, they can stop.
Flair can talk all he wants about Hart not being a big draw. Neither was Flair for the last 15 years he wrestled. At least Hart didn't hold back anyone who might be better than him. Or get a shit load of world titles from his friends who just happened to be the bookers. And everything Hart said in this quote in this vid is true. And everyone knows it.
I personally think the things Flair and Bret said about each other in their autobiographies was a shame. They were both stellar workers in their prime, but I always thought Shawn Michaels was better than both of them anyway.
i think flair hates bret is because bret beat him for the wwe championship
Id say it was cos flair never got to regain the belt from bret.if you look back through history flair dropped titles and regained them from the same guy.
Flair can say what ever he want's, He was a headliner in WCW, And it wen't bankrupt, Bret never made money is the stupidist quote ever, Hey RIC HE MADE MORE THEN YOUR BUDDY Arn.
When Flair tells he's wrestled the Funks and Harley Race, Bret during a short NWA stint wrestled then champion Harley Race and impressed him. He has wrestled Terry Funk (don't know about Dory though) and wrestled then AWA champ Nick Bockwinkel to a 90 minute draw. Bret also wrestled Japanese legend Mitsuharu Misawa when he was the Tiger Mask to a draw when WWF and All-Japan had an agreedment. And don't forget all the Canadian and British greats he has wrestled.
Bret is also the more internationally recognized wrestler than Flair thanx to WWF's international popularity during the 80's/early 90's, the NWA didn't have that. As his credentials as a legit hooker/shooter ... When Ken Shamrock went to WWF and broke Vaders nose in six places and made him unable to walk for almost a week, Bret invited him to Calgary to polish Ken's pro wrestling skills.
Ken accepted and during that period Bret and Ken sometimes would roll for real in the Dungeon with Bret actually caughting Ken a few times. Keep in mind that this was 1996 with Ken coming from the Octagon and arguably being the best fighter in the world at the time (Severn, Igor and maybe Frye all deserve honorable mention for that title). An who at that time could caught Ken in sparring? None of the Lion's Den and other sparring partners (at least according to Ken).
And Bret was what, 39/40 years young at the time? I told this story to Frank Shamrock and he couldn't believe it. He said "Ken was untouchable when it came to holds back in the day. He was trained by fugiwara in japan with the gotch crew. I never saw anyone tap ken including the japanese who at the time were light years ahead of the world. I never caught him and never saw anyone else do it."
My sources are old PWI and related magazines, wresting documentaries and what not that I used to collect during the mid 90's till early 2000's. I'm also a mod on Frank Shamrock's forum. What I stated are facts. Flair, with all due respect to his legacy, has the facts wrong. Funny fact, no matter how bad WCW was to Bret at times, he's was still the only WCW wrestler to be 0-3 against WCW franchiche Bill Goldberg. Sting will always be WCW's franchise to me haha.
Bret also lost to Japanese legend Sayama (Tiger Mask I) in a great match. This while Flair was boring people to death wrestling Harley Race, oh yeah, way to go Flair...
Flair talks shit about anyone who may be better than him, and without a doubt, Bret Hart was a better in-ring wrestler than Ric Flair.
Oh yeah, Bret never drew a dime, just main evented Wembley Stadium, 80000 person sellout.
RIP Misawa, Flair is not even a tenth of the man you were in the ring.
Bulldog, Savage, Warrior, & Flair were the big names on the card. I'm not saying Bret didn't have his fans. But you can't say Bret himself drew 80,000 people to Wembly, he was still a midcarder at that time.
No? Then why did him and Davey get the biggest pop of the night? It wasn't just because Davey was from England. Even though Bret was a mid-carder at the time, he still would steal the show from some main-eventers. Truth is that Bret wasn't handed main event status, he had to fight for it. I can't say the same for many who criticize him.
They got the biggest crowd of the night because 1) They had the best match on the card
and
2) Because Davey was the hometown favorite. You book Ric Flair in Greensboro, or one of the Von Erichs in Dallas, you think they're not going to get the loudest reaction of the night???
I never said Bret didn't or couldn't steal the show. Hart Foundation had one of the best matches at WM7. But the people in the audience didn't buy their tickets to see Hart.
But beside Davey Boy being in the match, do you think fans went to Wembley to watch Hart? Remember, Hart was the biggest draw overseas for many years, and that was before his main event status.
I was in attendance at wembley to see Bret Hart...who is this ric flair you speak of? Isn't he the guy who's career was washed up by the time he arrived in the wwf back in '92. the guy who couldn't wrestle worth a shit, that's why he was taking on the likes of Shawn Michaels when he was trying to get out of the Rockers, and go solo. Only to be beat by him in a retirement match. I guess if they make you look good at the beginning, they'll make you look good at the end, too.
Well, actually Bret started it all, at least in public. After Bret beat Flair for the WWF world title and Flair left the company, Bret said on a radio interview that Flair couldn't lace his boots. That irrated Flair and the (little) verbal warfare started from there. Flair's statements on Bret since his book came out were never based on facts, no matter how much Flair believes it. Bret was a big draw and his popularity boosted tremendously dduring and after the big steroids scandal in the 90's
Besides when he was heel, Bret was never a boring worker considered by fans and most of the wrestlers. He had a lot of signature moves but the way he set them up set him apart from a lot of the other wrestlers. Also, he never seriously injured another wrestler despite the fact that he was very physical. Accomplishments, he is the first AND only wrestler to complete the big six in two different organisations (all the major titles in both WWF and WCW when they were two single organisations).
Both Bret Hart and Ric Flair are brilliant athletes and performers but this pissing match between them has become ridiculous. It's reached the point where their distaste for one another runs so deep that they've both lost any sense of fairness or objectivity. This is tragic because they could have conducted themselves with the maturity their ages demand and their legacies deserve. Hopefully, some day they'll grow up and give one another the respect they both earned a long time ago.
I've never really been a fan of Flair, but Bret is one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time. Flair just wants everyone to say he's the greatest of all-time, which is arguable. He think he's the best thing this business has ever seen, but to be quite honest both guys (Bret & Flair) are egomaniacs.
I agree with bret, and the only reason why i think flair hates bret is because bret beat him for the wwe championship. and the only reason why shawn and hunter was offened by people compairing bret hart to ric flair is because they dont like bret.
i never liked hunter anyway. and flair is hunters little bitch boy
LOL not only did Bret hart beat Flair for the WWF championship, but Bret also came into Flairs company WCW and beat him in the return match. Maybe two of the reasons Flair doesn't like Bret. But Flair talks about Bret as if he was nothing. Reminds me of people who like Xbox 360 and then act like because they think its better, the PS3 has no redeemable qualities about it as well. I like both 360 and PS3 by the way lol, but I'm just saying. Flair should be more busy with paying his taxes lol
Thats what it could be, flair did the samething with randy savage. lets see savage beat flair at wm8. he beat him at bash at the beach, he beat him at wcw nitro. hogan has beaten flair so many times also.
When Flair talks about Bret he doesn't back it up with the truth. Bur I fully agree with Bret when he talks about Flair. He did forget one thing though. No matter if Flair was face or heel.He cut the same promos and wrestled the same matches. Just the bookers would put him against a wrestler of the opposing orientation. Flair is the most over rated wrestler of all time. Forget Warrior, he wasn't on top of the sport as long as Flair was. One more thing. Sting would Kill Flair in the ring today!
in what year did flair sell more merchandise then any other wreslter??NONE
when was it the flair era in the wwe??NEVER
i could go into double figures of names, who were better wrestlers. i could go into double figures of names who were bigger draws. it is a mystery to me how anybody can call ric flair the greatest of all time.
I agree, 100%. I respect Flair but I don't know who he thinks he is, he's dreaming if he thinks he's a better wrestler than Bret. Flair was funny on the mic, acting like a retard and I respect his long career and him personally, but he needs to show Bret some respect and Bret has like 10 times more better moves than Flair and Bret is right, a world champion should not act like a comedian or a jackass and Bret was always a better champion than Flair.
I'd put Benoit (oops the dirty word), Guerrero (RIP), Hennig, HBK, and Steamboat all ahead of Flair as far as in ring psychology and wrestling skills are concerned as well.
Both had great matches, and it comes down to personal taste to an extent. But I think Bret is correct that he brought more realism to the ring, more than anyone else of all time (that I personally saw anyway). I still say Flair is above Hart, just barely, because of the way he could draw people into the arena with charisma and mic skills, but when it came down to in-ring psychology Bret Hart really is "the best there is, best there was".
really Bret did not do the same thing he had repeated spots in his matches but he did not have have the same old psycholgoly every match he had that was the difference
People including haters cannot deny the fact that Bret brought a lot of realism to his matches he was that type of wrestler who did not rely on stunts to get some pops
in my opinion i think the best wrestler in the WWE who brings a lot of realism in his matches is Shelton Benjamin
definately, shelton benjamin is a remarkable athlete, yet its too bad that Vince doesn't realise that he can become a great wrestler with big potential. Bret hart was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Never once in his career did he injure any wrestler. How many wrestling matches has he been in, MANY. He admires the fans and will give them anything, anywhere. Rick Flair, IMO, is just a dirty, old wrestler who bring no realism to wrestling at all.
I've heard that Bret did the same spots in his matches, such as spot #1, spot #2, and so on. Could Bret have run the NWA territories like Flair did as Champion? I wonder.
I totally agree. I've heard everyone including Bret say.. "Flairs a routine worker!" at the end of the day, Bret Hart in everymatch hit the 2nd rope elbow, back breaker, and worked the leg. < ( not that I dont love and appreciate it, but he did)
I believe that Bret started all of it when he took shots at Flair in his Sun Article, after he beat Flair for the Title in 92. I could be wrong but I do believe Hart took a shot at Flair back then. Now Hart in my eyes wrestled the same match as well, same move set every match. Honestly thats what most wrestlers do they all have their spots. If I paid to see Ric Flair, I paid to see a Ric Flair match. I think their both great, and need to get pass all this petty crap.
the funny thing is how Flair talks about wrasslin' all of these other names!! Bret also wrestled most of those mentioned, but did Flair have good matches or just mediocre. Bret made everyone look good, sure Flair could talk circles around Bret...but comes nowhere close as far as wrestling ability.
Flair, in the day, could have a match with a broom stick and make it look good. That was well known. I'm not knocking Bret's abilities, but Flair is simply the greatest and Bret isn't. Period.
Bret is right about flair, flair is all hype and any1 who would watch flairs boring ass match, who might know a thing or two about wrestling, would know that with only one move (the figure four) an a bunch of same circus stunts that flair does, no way did he deserve all the royalties he got. Ric flair is a two bit corporate champ who could maybe make some1 laugh on the mic.
To discount what Flair done for wrestling is ludicrous. Hart may not consider Flair a great worker, but many of his peers do. Flair is one of wrestling's most recognised stars and is a phenom with the mic which IS important in sports entertainment. Hart was a star in the 90's, and was a great worker, while only average (and inferior to Flair) on the mic. Both will go down as legends, whether they like each other or not. Best not to blindly discredit one because you like the other.
I think they are both great, but most ppl base this on Flair in the 90's and beyond, his best work was late 70's and in the 80's and his best mic work was during the Nitro years.
Bret made everyone look good, and made the matches look real.Hart was the best the WWF had to offer in the early mid 90's like it or not..His mic skills were not great, but he made up for that being a hard worker and giving his all every night..

If Bret is a better worker why does Flair have 7 five star matches to Bret's 2. Flair by the wrestling observer who is made of genrally the smartest people around always voted Ric better.
damn its funny how bret just repyling to what ric flair started gets so much negativity from ppl...1. ric flair is an old joke who hates on other ppl..bret couldve just as eaily kicked the dentures off flair if he wanted but chooses not to ..flair = depends underpants
You guys realize what FLair said about Bret right? Saying Bret was a boring worker and was never a draw, those things are obviously debatable. However, saying Bret exploited Owen's death was a low blow. Flair makes himself out to be "the man" yet all he does is bully people around and can't admit his mistakes.

You losers need to learn the meaning of the word respect.Hating on Flair just cause he is the Man . Flair can't wrestle?Have any of you bitches watched old NWA?, flair vs. steamboat was pro wrestling at its finest Flair is living legend no words take away from the fact that ric was one of the greatest if not THE greatest.I love bret hart and all but he comes across as a jeoulous man just like all of you
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
. His name ain't dick its ric so keep it out yo mouth
Flair is no living legend, he's an insecure piece of s*** who bashes other wrestlers (ie: Bret, Foley, Savage, Sid..) just to feel better about himself. Look at the WWE dvds he appears on and see how much negative things he has to say about other wrestlers. That doesn't make him a legend at all.
Flairs a bitter bullshitting bastard and dont you forget that carterass. Also Flair was hating on Bret first in his book, then Bret responded on his website in kind. So check your facts. Flairs problem is that, he's just mad because Bret is/was a better wrestler than him, in the ring, and out of the ring. Bret could kick Flairs arse if he wnated. Like Bret said; He was a three dressed up as a nine. Flair=Overrated.

By your comments I believe that you are young. Flair has not been what he was but at this point he is almost sixty years old. Back in the eighties and the early nineties he and Hogan were by far the two best personalities out there. Hart never got close to what they achieved. Sandman? PLEASE!! Flair has more talent in one toenail than that hack ever had.
rstryker27 2 years ago

That's all I'm saying.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
You need to check out some of the wrestlers hospital bills and then try and tell me it's f-a-k-e. The truth is wrestlers are exploited and abused but the indastry they bust there ass's for. If anybody ever needed a union it was wrestlers. Then of course Vince would have to pay them a certain scale, and the coast would flow down to the coast of tickets, and allot of fans would stop buying because they are mostly selfish ass holes.
McMahonHater 2 years ago
@McMahonHater
Benoit had brain damage from taking actual chair shots to the head.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
Not me brother. In fact I was watching the HBk/Angle match from Mania 21 today, and I thought it was amazing and well paced. I also thought "If this was Malenco/Storm and they were stoping for all these 'rest hold" the fans would be chanting BORING. Thise are the stupid marks, I love a match that actually has grapling in volved.

Yeah the WM 21 match was a good one.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago

Right?
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes
...or criss-cross spots leading to a double clothesline, they were all telling a story.
Maybe you'd enjoy it if they were rolling around in oil or mud...
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes
Even the unrealistic stuff they used to do, like "tests of strength".....
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes
So without the great storylines, what are you watching? What is this business about "workrate" anyway? You might as well be watching ballet. Except it's two guys grunting and grabbing each other. Actually, you workrate homos did get guys like Chris Benoit, who had no personality and sucked on the mic, to the top of the card.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
I remember marking out when the Megapowers split up, when the Warrior beat Hogan, when Flair showed up in the WWF, when Undertaker beat Hogan, when Hart beat Yokozuna at WM X, when the two Undertakers feuded...all good "entertainment". If I wanted to watch two men rolling around trading wristlocks and hugging on each other, I'd order me some gay porno.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
So if I am a "mark" because I like to suspend my belief with great storylines and feuds, then what is the alternative? The workrate freaks who basically enjoy watching two men in tights or short pants jump and roll around? The sadistic hardcore freaks who want to see guys get legitimately hurt with staple guns and exploding light bulbs? Because that's "hardkore d00d"?
Nonsense. These aren't 'rasslin fans. They're just sick kids with daddy issues. I am old enough to have enjoyed Hulkamania.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes

Bret Hart was a pretty good performer but I can name at least ten including Flair that were and are better. Steamboat , Savage , Austin , The Rock , Michaels , Undertaker , just to name a few. Brett Hart is nuts to even bring up Foley. He probably thought Sandman was a great wrestler too.
rstryker27 2 years ago
@rstryker27 you know ric flair proved that he is hates it and even is probably jealous when other people mention guys like foley. I remember him saying on RAW that he hated it when people would talk about Mick Foley falling off the steel cage instead of talking about him

Flair hates Foley and even says so in his book.
McMahonHater 2 years ago
@rstryker27
McMahonHater 2 years ago
The Sandman remark was meant as sarcasm since he sucked so bad. Pour beer in his mouth , stomp down to the ring , start beating on someone with a cane . That was it. His entire wrestling gig. To quote Ric Flair from his book " Hardcore became a niche for a lot of guys who couldn't do fuck-all in the ring". I agree and put Foley in that group. As for Hart himself , I could take him or leave him. His whining and bitterness sort of ruined him for me.

I like Bret but he never had Flair's charisma. Flair did more than just chops (wooooo) but who gives a flying fuck about "workrate" anyway. He was entertaining.

Last time I checked, these guys are in the entertainment business. The wrestlers that made wrestling mainstream...like Hogan, were not really going for realism, were they? It IS a friggin' cartoon and that's what made it great. If you want realism, go watch UFC.
bigpoopie69 2 years ago
i am aware that wrestling is fake. but the guys that do it best (bret, bulldog, martel...) are the ones that push for more realism, so that my suspension of belief doesn't have to stretch so far.
MikeDesadario 2 years ago
Just because something is a show, doesn't mean you can't try to make it look as realistic as possible.
McMahonHater 2 years ago
@McMahonHater
Nothing wrong with that. It makes it easier to suspend belief. But the over the top stuff is what made wrestling entertainment. Andre and Hogan didn't wrestle a 5 star match at WM III but they still made history.

Yeah, but Savage vs Steamboat was the better match, and the better fued.

McMahonHater 2 years ago
Ugh. You folks really don't understand anything about pro wrestling but I appreciate the enthusiasm.
@bigpoopie69

I'm not happy with Hart signing back with the WWE, but he was 100% right about Flair.
McMahonHater 2 years ago
Good book and I'm sure it's 100% accurate in Bret's mind.
34 years following this business (mostly Japan) and without question Bret Hart is my fav in-ring performer.
That said Flair is the best pro wrestler in my lifetime. He's the total package and has a resume NO ONE can match.
I understand you drinking Bret's Kool-aid but he was always jealous of the attention Flair got (similar w/HBK) so his criticisms should be taken with a grain of salt. Appreciate your comments.--777

How can Bret be the best in-ring performer but Flair be the best wrestler. His promos were the ramblings of a senile old man, and he was a clown in the ring.

agree flairs full of sh1t but brets a bit of a hypocrite regarding a few things,he says chops are phony but he didnt mind taking mr perfects & benoits.while flair chopped in every match, bret punched, where flair did his upside down turnbuckle, bret did his face first turnbuckle, surely bret didnt think that looked real ?
crowbar2009 2 years ago
i know what you mean about the chops, but the front turnbuckle was absolutely meant to look real. why is it that every time someone is sent into the turnbuckle at full speed do they turn around? if they can turn around, they can stop.

I'm sure Bret Hart has seen so many matches of Ed Lewis on tape when his matches were before TV was invented. Don't be a moron Bret!

I personally think the things Flair and Bret said about each other in their autobiographies was a shame. They were both stellar workers in their prime, but I always thought Shawn Michaels was better than both of them anyway.

JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
Bret is also the more internationally recognized wrestler than Flair thanx to WWF's international popularity during the 80's/early 90's, the NWA didn't have that. As his credentials as a legit hooker/shooter ... When Ken Shamrock went to WWF and broke Vaders nose in six places and made him unable to walk for almost a week, Bret invited him to Calgary to polish Ken's pro wrestling skills.
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
Ken accepted and during that period Bret and Ken sometimes would roll for real in the Dungeon with Bret actually caughting Ken a few times. Keep in mind that this was 1996 with Ken coming from the Octagon and arguably being the best fighter in the world at the time (Severn, Igor and maybe Frye all deserve honorable mention for that title). An who at that time could caught Ken in sparring? None of the Lion's Den and other sparring partners (at least according to Ken).
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
And Bret was what, 39/40 years young at the time? I told this story to Frank Shamrock and he couldn't believe it. He said "Ken was untouchable when it came to holds back in the day. He was trained by fugiwara in japan with the gotch crew. I never saw anyone tap ken including the japanese who at the time were light years ahead of the world. I never caught him and never saw anyone else do it."
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
My sources are old PWI and related magazines, wresting documentaries and what not that I used to collect during the mid 90's till early 2000's. I'm also a mod on Frank Shamrock's forum. What I stated are facts. Flair, with all due respect to his legacy, has the facts wrong. Funny fact, no matter how bad WCW was to Bret at times, he's was still the only WCW wrestler to be 0-3 against WCW franchiche Bill Goldberg. Sting will always be WCW's franchise to me haha.
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
Bret also lost to Japanese legend Sayama (Tiger Mask I) in a great match. This while Flair was boring people to death wrestling Harley Race, oh yeah, way to go Flair...
Flair talks shit about anyone who may be better than him, and without a doubt, Bret Hart was a better in-ring wrestler than Ric Flair.
Oh yeah, Bret never drew a dime, just main evented Wembley Stadium, 80000 person sellout.
RIP Misawa, Flair is not even a tenth of the man you were in the ring.
MAJS444 2 years ago
Bad example,
Bulldog, Savage, Warrior, & Flair were the big names on the card. I'm not saying Bret didn't have his fans. But you can't say Bret himself drew 80,000 people to Wembly, he was still a midcarder at that time.
StuUngar 2 years ago
No? Then why did him and Davey get the biggest pop of the night? It wasn't just because Davey was from England. Even though Bret was a mid-carder at the time, he still would steal the show from some main-eventers. Truth is that Bret wasn't handed main event status, he had to fight for it. I can't say the same for many who criticize him.
milkman4eva 2 years ago 2
They got the biggest crowd of the night because 1) They had the best match on the card
and
2) Because Davey was the hometown favorite. You book Ric Flair in Greensboro, or one of the Von Erichs in Dallas, you think they're not going to get the loudest reaction of the night???
I never said Bret didn't or couldn't steal the show. Hart Foundation had one of the best matches at WM7. But the people in the audience didn't buy their tickets to see Hart.
StuUngar 2 years ago
But beside Davey Boy being in the match, do you think fans went to Wembley to watch Hart? Remember, Hart was the biggest draw overseas for many years, and that was before his main event status.
milkman4eva 2 years ago 2
You will never be a booker.
DarsowGolf 2 years ago
So you're saying I shouldn't hold my breath on that booker position I applied for last week?
StuUngar 2 years ago
I was in attendance at wembley to see Bret Hart...who is this ric flair you speak of? Isn't he the guy who's career was washed up by the time he arrived in the wwf back in '92. the guy who couldn't wrestle worth a shit, that's why he was taking on the likes of Shawn Michaels when he was trying to get out of the Rockers, and go solo. Only to be beat by him in a retirement match. I guess if they make you look good at the beginning, they'll make you look good at the end, too.
MartyMoves 2 years ago 2
wasnt his match with the bulldog a the main event intercontinental match?
6steveo9 2 years ago 2
Harley Race co-trained Bret and is a longtime friend of the Harts dating back to when he competed for Stu.
Hawk and Animal both said in a legit fight, Bret would kill Shawn Michaels and they watched him beat the shit out of him.
When Flair was champ in 89, the NWA's best creative period, there was nothing but empty seats.
Bret Hart was the biggest drawing WWF star of the 90's (including U.S) in terms of house shows and merchandise until the Stone Cold period.
RSXemperor 2 years ago 2
Well, actually Bret started it all, at least in public. After Bret beat Flair for the WWF world title and Flair left the company, Bret said on a radio interview that Flair couldn't lace his boots. That irrated Flair and the (little) verbal warfare started from there. Flair's statements on Bret since his book came out were never based on facts, no matter how much Flair believes it. Bret was a big draw and his popularity boosted tremendously dduring and after the big steroids scandal in the 90's
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
Besides when he was heel, Bret was never a boring worker considered by fans and most of the wrestlers. He had a lot of signature moves but the way he set them up set him apart from a lot of the other wrestlers. Also, he never seriously injured another wrestler despite the fact that he was very physical. Accomplishments, he is the first AND only wrestler to complete the big six in two different organisations (all the major titles in both WWF and WCW when they were two single organisations).
JoeyvanTienen 2 years ago
Technically yes you are right and no.
The feud started according to many who observed the title change match because Flair went off
Vince' s script and tried his hardest to make Bret look bad. Even Curt Hennig said it was Flair's fault Bret dislocated his finger in the match.
RSXemperor 2 years ago
Both Bret Hart and Ric Flair are brilliant athletes and performers but this pissing match between them has become ridiculous. It's reached the point where their distaste for one another runs so deep that they've both lost any sense of fairness or objectivity. This is tragic because they could have conducted themselves with the maturity their ages demand and their legacies deserve. Hopefully, some day they'll grow up and give one another the respect they both earned a long time ago.
Cantearya 2 years ago
I've never really been a fan of Flair, but Bret is one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time. Flair just wants everyone to say he's the greatest of all-time, which is arguable. He think he's the best thing this business has ever seen, but to be quite honest both guys (Bret & Flair) are egomaniacs.
TrishLitaStacyTorrie 2 years ago
I agree with bret, and the only reason why i think flair hates bret is because bret beat him for the wwe championship. and the only reason why shawn and hunter was offened by people compairing bret hart to ric flair is because they dont like bret.
i never liked hunter anyway. and flair is hunters little bitch boy
megaman2160 2 years ago 3
LOL not only did Bret hart beat Flair for the WWF championship, but Bret also came into Flairs company WCW and beat him in the return match. Maybe two of the reasons Flair doesn't like Bret. But Flair talks about Bret as if he was nothing. Reminds me of people who like Xbox 360 and then act like because they think its better, the PS3 has no redeemable qualities about it as well. I like both 360 and PS3 by the way lol, but I'm just saying. Flair should be more busy with paying his taxes lol
BruiserDrop 2 years ago
Thats what it could be, flair did the samething with randy savage. lets see savage beat flair at wm8. he beat him at bash at the beach, he beat him at wcw nitro. hogan has beaten flair so many times also.
megaman2160 2 years ago
When Flair talks about Bret he doesn't back it up with the truth. Bur I fully agree with Bret when he talks about Flair. He did forget one thing though. No matter if Flair was face or heel.He cut the same promos and wrestled the same matches. Just the bookers would put him against a wrestler of the opposing orientation. Flair is the most over rated wrestler of all time. Forget Warrior, he wasn't on top of the sport as long as Flair was. One more thing. Sting would Kill Flair in the ring today!
BruiserDrop 2 years ago 2
how many wrestlemanias has flair headlined??NONE
how many european tours has flair headlined??NONE
in what year did flair sell more merchandise then any other wreslter??NONE

2WIREG 2 years ago 2
I agree, 100%. I respect Flair but I don't know who he thinks he is, he's dreaming if he thinks he's a better wrestler than Bret. Flair was funny on the mic, acting like a retard and I respect his long career and him personally, but he needs to show Bret some respect and Bret has like 10 times more better moves than Flair and Bret is right, a world champion should not act like a comedian or a jackass and Bret was always a better champion than Flair.

RIP to Hennig as well
burth179 2 years ago
I'd put Benoit (oops the dirty word), Guerrero (RIP), Hennig, HBK, and Steamboat all ahead of Flair as far as in ring psychology and wrestling skills are concerned as well.
burth179 2 years ago 2
Both had great matches, and it comes down to personal taste to an extent. But I think Bret is correct that he brought more realism to the ring, more than anyone else of all time (that I personally saw anyway). I still say Flair is above Hart, just barely, because of the way he could draw people into the arena with charisma and mic skills, but when it came down to in-ring psychology Bret Hart really is "the best there is, best there was".
burth179 2 years ago
really Bret did not do the same thing he had repeated spots in his matches but he did not have have the same old psycholgoly every match he had that was the difference
People including haters cannot deny the fact that Bret brought a lot of realism to his matches he was that type of wrestler who did not rely on stunts to get some pops
in my opinion i think the best wrestler in the WWE who brings a lot of realism in his matches is Shelton Benjamin
delirous8 2 years ago
definately, shelton benjamin is a remarkable athlete, yet its too bad that Vince doesn't realise that he can become a great wrestler with big potential. Bret hart was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Never once in his career did he injure any wrestler. How many wrestling matches has he been in, MANY. He admires the fans and will give them anything, anywhere. Rick Flair, IMO, is just a dirty, old wrestler who bring no realism to wrestling at all.
xizzlex 2 years ago 3
I've heard that Bret did the same spots in his matches, such as spot #1, spot #2, and so on. Could Bret have run the NWA territories like Flair did as Champion? I wonder.
RevDarkehorse 2 years ago 2
I totally agree. I've heard everyone including Bret say.. "Flairs a routine worker!" at the end of the day, Bret Hart in everymatch hit the 2nd rope elbow, back breaker, and worked the leg. < ( not that I dont love and appreciate it, but he did)
realfubz 2 years ago
But Bret wrestled different styles of matches (a match with Mr. Perfect was much different than his match with Yokozuna).
Flair would always: Strut, beg, flip over the turnbuckle, beg again, low blow, take out the knee, Figure 4.
jlfahrer 2 years ago
Yeah, but it was realism...it added to his matches...Flair came off like a circus sideshow clown.
Mark1379 2 years ago
I believe that Bret started all of it when he took shots at Flair in his Sun Article, after he beat Flair for the Title in 92. I could be wrong but I do believe Hart took a shot at Flair back then. Now Hart in my eyes wrestled the same match as well, same move set every match. Honestly thats what most wrestlers do they all have their spots. If I paid to see Ric Flair, I paid to see a Ric Flair match. I think their both great, and need to get pass all this petty crap.
DNEIL 2 years ago
the funny thing is how Flair talks about wrasslin' all of these other names!! Bret also wrestled most of those mentioned, but did Flair have good matches or just mediocre. Bret made everyone look good, sure Flair could talk circles around Bret...but comes nowhere close as far as wrestling ability.
thebreeze12 2 years ago 3
Flair, in the day, could have a match with a broom stick and make it look good. That was well known. I'm not knocking Bret's abilities, but Flair is simply the greatest and Bret isn't. Period.

Bret is right about flair, flair is all hype and any1 who would watch flairs boring ass match, who might know a thing or two about wrestling, would know that with only one move (the figure four) an a bunch of same circus stunts that flair does, no way did he deserve all the royalties he got. Ric flair is a two bit corporate champ who could maybe make some1 laugh on the mic.
BVD169 3 years ago
To discount what Flair done for wrestling is ludicrous. Hart may not consider Flair a great worker, but many of his peers do. Flair is one of wrestling's most recognised stars and is a phenom with the mic which IS important in sports entertainment. Hart was a star in the 90's, and was a great worker, while only average (and inferior to Flair) on the mic. Both will go down as legends, whether they like each other or not. Best not to blindly discredit one because you like the other.
Jeebers87 3 years ago 3
I think they are both great, but most ppl base this on Flair in the 90's and beyond, his best work was late 70's and in the 80's and his best mic work was during the Nitro years.
Bret made everyone look good, and made the matches look real.Hart was the best the WWF had to offer in the early mid 90's like it or not..His mic skills were not great, but he made up for that being a hard worker and giving his all every night..
bkraven191 2 years ago 2
Seen lots of Flair in the early 80s, and his matches were only as good as his opponent.
He had great matches in the 80s with Ricky Steamboat because Ricky Steamboat was a great wrestler.
He had great matches with Terry Funk because Terry Funk was a great wrestler.
That whole 'work with a broomstick' nonsense doesn't wash.
An early match between Flair and Harley Race was the most godawful boring thing I had ever seen.
Flair was a good in-ring worker, not the best.
