  • Bad comparison : the Dreamcast wasn't 16/9 so the image here is distorted. And this game isn't necessarily the best racing game to compare against GT3 (try Test Drive Le Mans aka Le Mans 24 Hours). Not trying to imply the Dreamcast could really compete with the PS2, but you make it look much worse than it really was.

  • It's 2012, lets stop comparing decade-old consoles.

  • Name one PS2 game, just one that makes you go out and ask people on the street: HOW ABOUT A GAME OF LUCKY HIT, WANNA TRY A GAME OF LUCKY HIT?:

  • Sega Win.

  • In the case of VGA, to say nothing Dreamcast.

  • dreamcast all the way!

  • Dreamcast wins

  • I love the Dreamcast to death, but I have to honestly say.... The Dreamcast almost competes with the PS2. Sorry, that's just the harsh reality.

  • How about the bouncer?

  • DC Wins!!!

  • useless ! DC has better games

  • terrible examples.

  • your method of comparison is wrong, if you want to show that the playstation 2 has better graphics (which it doesn't...) compared to the dreamcast pick a title that exist on both consoles. do a side by side comparison of something like dead or alive 2 or mdk2 and you'll see that you're wrong. the ps2 graphics engine can't do anti aliasing if it's life depended on it also the dreamcast is the only console that can put out vga on every game (with a patch).

  • hi torontoraps8 are you just trying to insult the dreamcast? if you capture something make sure you capture it correctly also comparison is usally between to versions of the same game!

the dreamcast takes the ps2 graphics wise any day of the week.

Need for speed hot pursuit 2. 2002. One of the best NFS game before they ruined it with cheesey horrible hipster wannabe plots. Nuff said. Helicopters actually shoot rockets and missiles at you while you race and weave your way through traffic at 60fps.

Many Dreamcast racing games like tokyo extreme racer were only 30fps. PS2 games like nfs, burnout to gt4 ran at twice the polygons, twice the effects, and twice the speed of dc games.

  • @Tinhh ALL of the 6th generation of consoles work at 60fps, including the Dreamcast... 30fps rate is used only by older consoles like N64 or playstation.

  • @EduarDoomX

Its called nulldc. Quite a bit of dreamcast games ran at 30fps. Its very hard to do 60fps even on ps3 and xbox 360. That's why I give alot of respect to ps2 burnout programmers who were able to get 60fps on burnout 2 - revenge.

Here's a link to dc games emulator screenshots:

Look at RPS or renders per second or FPS. Most are only 30.

  • @Tinhh ...This is an emulator buddy, most Dreamcast emulators are crap. thats why it looks so ugly and is running so slow. This is actually Tokyo Extreme racer 2. And you gotta remember this game came out 2 years beore said Need or Speed game and 4 years beore GT4. So will those games look and possibly preorm better? O course thats technology, its forever changing and becoming better. But, does that mean those games are better.......EFF NO!!!! VIVA LA DREAMCAST!!!!!!!!

  • @santiago262

Okay 2 years old is too old?

    Then watch this:

    /watch?v=w1RjJqmDkOY

Midnight Club for ps2. 2000 game. Launch title.

Huge open world environment and reflections not only on the cars but on the roads when its raining.

Dreamcast has better games? Then enjoy your linear highway race in tokyo xtreme and twitchy dreamcast analog stick while I enjoy, midnight club, burnout, NFS, XG3, GPC, TOCA, F1, outrun, atv offroad, rally etc, on a Force Feedback wheel.

  • @Tinhh It sounds as if you've never played a Dreamcast game in your life. Allow me to introduce you to such beauties as Rez, Ikaruga, Makken X, Headhunter, StreetFighter 3, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom vs Snk 2, King of Fighters 2002. Metopolis Street Racer, Jet Grind Radio...etc...etc...etc... and all those I can play with my amazing Dreamcast contoller with perfect anolog stick...Pshh you want realism, then go drive a car...ROFL...VIVA LA DREAMCAST!!!!!!!!!

  • Its not about realism with the force feedback wheel, Its about enhancing the experience. That's why you see racing arcade cabinets with force feedback wheels even for arcade games. Its much more FUN. Those games you listed are mostly bad. Phantasy star was just a grind fest and not as big as ps2 FFXI mmo. Skies of arcadia is cliched and fails when compared to ps2 demon hunting SMT series like Persona. 2d fighters and rez also on ps2. MSR is meh, Jet Grind I really liked but also on xbox

  • @Tinhh Yes and enhance your expierience by driving a real vehicle lol (^_^)...Mostly bad? Grind fest? Your joking right? How many games are "mostly bad" in the PS2's library. Isnt any Final Fantasy game a grind fest? And FFXI seriously? That game is the most forgotten of all the FF games. Skies of Arcadia was so much better than FFXI. The reason the 2d fighters and Rez where on the ps2 is because sony realized that without those games thier consol would fail so in closing....VIVA LA DREAMCAST!!!

  • Dude FF11 still has 500k people playing online today. Not as big as WoW but still sizable and it has gone through 6 expansion paks. Its areas were huge and open world unlike PhantasyStar or skies of arcadia and a new involving story and missions were updated every 3 months. Yes PSO was just a grind fest. There was no theme or epic storyline to follow. In ffxi you had political intrigue and mystery of vana'diel to figure out. You also had 60+ men mission raids which were awesome and chaotic.

  • Guess you never tried a force feed back wheel, it's really fun. I drive 1 hourr and a half to work everyday because of the damn recession. Driving is fucking boring. A force feed back wheel and burnout revenge crashing through hundreds of cars while sparks fly out is pure bliss after work. I don't play much driving sims other than grand prix challenge. Also if you thought skies of arcadia was a good game then you need to play more rpgs dude. Try ps2 SMT series, a philosophical mature jrpg

  • @santiago262

    /watch?v=LHJbE_kfybs

Opening of shin megami tensei Digital Devil Saga for the ps2.

A game where you must kill and eat other demonic people in order to survive and escape hindu themed purgatory.

Be honest and admit no other RPG is like this game. No other console has rpg concepts like the ps2. Skies of arcadia is kiddie compared to the SMT series which deal with the fall of man from the grace of god and now must meddle with demons in misery who love the company of others

  • @Tinhh You seem to know your games Sir. Its nice o know there are other gamers out there with the same love of games as I. Dont get me wrong PS2 had some great RPG's and other games as well. Heck I own the console. But, you gotta remember when video games first came out they assumed it was a kids toy. I can play Gears of War and have fun, then go play a game like Kirby's Dreamland for the NES and have just as much fun. Games arent just about realism and maturity.

  • Games aren't about realism and maturity? Well that's kinda true for some simple platformer like kirby, but that doesn't work for RPGs or adventure games. Case in point : Mark Twain's huckleberry finn children's story theme of growing up and racism. I got no problem with "kiddie" games as long as they are well told and that's incredibly rare. What was the theme of skies of arcadia other than to "beat the bad guys"? Twain was 100+ years ago and game's stories are so primitive now.

  • It's because I played a lot of game with good story telling that I have no patience for simple rpgs. Games Like Planescape Torment, System Shock 1 and 2, Silent hill 2, Deus ex, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts and more. These games have character with flaws I can relate to, especially in silent hill 2 where the protagonist tries to find his dead wife regardless of the dangers because he regrets not doing much for her cancer. Plots like that last with you forever but gameplay is always changing.

  • @Tinhh WOAH SIR!? How did we go from games to books to games haha...I get waht your saying but, come on who plays a game to relate to a character. Not I sir, Not I...You play the game for the epic story and character development and gameplay regardless if its 'kiddie" to some people. Theme of SOA was to beat the craps out of The Empire help a woman being presude by them because of her abilities and build your self a freakin bad@ss pirate ship.

  • @Tinhh They're seriously not Sir, tell me do any of those games you mentioned have any validity in the real world? Can you expierience somethin like Silent Hill out here in the real world? No you say...well that can only mean one thing...those games are not serious or mature they are SILLY and IMAGINARY. (^_^) enjoy your not serious and immature games....ROFL.

  • Have you not ever taken a literature course? It's not not taking a piece of work literally but discovering it's hidden moral and social implications. I am being honest and sincere here. Silent hill 2 is probably one of the greatest piece of video game writing out there. I relate to it a lot because someone dear to me also died of cancer. And I don't know if you know this but when some is in pain and dying they tend to lash out against those who love them most and suspect you don't care.

  • See, the beauty of Silent hill 2 is not the supernatural, but in how we torment our selves trying to under stand why someone we love would act a certain way and how we can help them when they can no longer control their bowels or walk. Is it okay to feel disgusted? Revolted? Tired of caring for the one we vowed to love forever? Sorry if I a being vague here but I don't wanna spoil silent hill 2. I recommend you play it cuz once you do, you don't look at other games or life the same

  • @Tinhh Suks about your car situation..... too bad we all cant own a Ferrari like me.....haha jk (^_^) But, seriously I love my PS2 and the Games I own for it but, personally my Dreamcast will be with me always....VIVAAAA LA DREAMCAST!!!!!!!!!!

  • @santiago262

    /watch?v=o_wTapLWflk

And outrun ps2 with driving force feedback. Much better accuracy and precision and much more fun. Can't do 186 miles per hour in a real car and I can't afford a ferrari.

  • What The Hell !?! When Emulation than a Good Emulation !

And the Pendant to GT3 iss MSR or Sega GT , Serously Not THC2

    mfg Bluebird

  • @AMIGABLUEBIRD Yeah he may as well have compared it to Looney Tunes Space Race :)

  • @AMIGABLUEBIRD wtf are you even saying. Thats not even remotely comprehendable english.

  • u fcked the aspect ratio , dumb fuck

  • This is an emulator with graphical flaws, I own this game and looks so much better when you dont emulate it. Emulate grand tourismo 3 if your going to emulate this game.

  • gostei

  • Aspect ratio!
