Excellent, I'm learning this piece now and appreciate knowing what it sounds like, though this was actually his fifth piece and due to the maturity if his work it has been accurately dated as Oct. 1762.
Please tell us more about you Cubus...I looked on Wiki, etc...I think youre a great musician...love the Mompou (Secreto) you did here...be well...thanks for the beautiful music!
The most common story behind this is that it was Nannerl (Mozart's older sister) who recorded Mozart's first compositions in her notebook. Leopold may have been the tutor of both Mozart and Nannerl, but he did not lend much hand into Mozart's compositions this early into his career.
Well that might be a little too harsh on the young Mozart, if I may say. A few notes and compositions here and there maybe, but a myth?
I will say, however, that it is quite a digestible theory though. Leopold was a very ambitious man not to mention there was a great enthusiasm for young prodigal musicians back then in Europe.
actually, Dr. Robert Greenberg would disagree with you. Mozart most likely did have help from Leopold. Leopold might have touched up a few parts here and there for the 4 year old mozart. Still, a great accomplishment for a small child.
that's cool. i was only stating that Dr. Greenberg says this. he does quote from the well-renouned Mozart scholar maynard solomon that the young Mozart might have had some help with a few notes here and there. you might want to look into MOZART by MAYNARD SOLOMON. he's a great writer on the subject of mr. wolfgang gottlieb mozart..yes, gottlieb was something mozart detested and removed it himself and changed it for amadeus.
@keetner Ok well, of course I don't know for sure, it's just that I've read a lot about him and some biographies etc., and most say evidence points that he wrote most on his own. It's hard to tell though as his father often wrote his compositions down, but that doesn't mean he had anything to do with them.
Time to play this on my euphonium

A Mozart's first composition, which he wrote in 1761 at the age of five. I'll always remain among the first composers to the world's favorite

sseerrffo is right, this is not Mozart's first piece, this is actually K.1G though.

mindygrahamkrauth is right.
Mozart's first compositions were nothing else but father's compositions.
Leopold was a smart music business man and tried to built a myth upon his son even over Wolfang's real talent, that was a great talent.

This is the Kv 1e (December 1761- January 1762, Mozart 5 or 6 yo). His first work is the Kv 1a (early 1761, Mozart 5 yo).

I don't care what the fuck Dr. Greenberg means, Mozart did this all on his own. Period.

How do you know? I think it'd be hard to tell whether he wrote them on his own or collaborated with his father :P
