  • wally cox's finger point is awesome :)

  • You Must Admit, Kenny Williams is a Good Announcer, but he's Definitely No Shadoe Stevens.

  • @AaronBruceLadner That's funny, I'd admit Shadoe Stevens is no Kenny Williams. : )

  • I'm SO glad that this version was found!! I so love shows like this. Wish there were more gems like this UNTOUCHED and in great condition, too! Now only if this was converted to DVD and/or blu-ray. More game shows should be on disc as well.

  • 0:37-0:55 WTF?

  • Woof! Robert Morse was so cute! His face, his voice, that little gap between his front teeth.......he was just bitable.

  • They didn't get much of the game in on this vid.

  • I always preferred the nighttime version for some reason. All it needed was Paul.

  • Did anyone find that big pause very eerie?

  • very much so

  • That pause was for a "The Hollywood Squares is brought to you tonight by (sponsor name and slogan)" overlay.

  • For 18 seconds, all I heard was tape buzz.

How could they even let that air?

  • That (tape) buzz is on my part. I am doing all of these videos on an AV input from my ten-year old television and the slight buzz is constant, even if I am watching a tape, DVD or nothing at all. I cannot rectify this unless I buy a new television, if that would help.

  • Hey, i'm not making rude comments about the tape buzz. I'm just saying how extremely eerie that pause at the start was.

  • I know and agree.

  • Years ago NBC News did a special report and when it was over, the announcer said(in a loud whisper) : "wait a minute.."

"This is the NBC Television Network".

    Talk about spooky.

  • @Hondo20132 Yes; the only reason I could think of was that they may have edited out the audio announcement of prizes for the evening

  • that is an awsome videp

  • To explain the silence from 0:37 to 0:54 - when this show first aired, they usually included a "sponsor tag."

Theme music is "The Silly Song," composed by Jimmie Haskell.

  • aw thanks! I've always wanted to see a hollywood squares with barbara eden. What year is this? 1966-67?

  • My guess is somewhere around 1967-68.

  • This is more from the short-lived 1968 NBC Primetime Version GSN reran years back.

GSN reran only most eps. from the 1968 NBC Primetime Edition, as well as: 150-200 episodes of the weekly Syndicated Version from Nov. 1971-76 and the 1977 NBC Daytime ep. from the special Storybook Squares Edition.

  • @megamanj2004X Exactly. Almost all of the NBC daytime version was erased along with many other shows because the cost of videotape at that time was prohibitively expense to use only once.

Of course, no one at that time could have figured these shows would continue to sustain their popularity years later to where there would be a demand to re-air them. If they did, I would think they'd be raking in a fortune now on DVD sales of these shows because they have withstood the test of time!
