  • This piece.. just..... how can I say? Wow!! The only solo that ever made my almost cry. And Im a guy...so....hey.

  • @camcomusic Dude! Thanks again for checking out my older clips! I agree, the backing is very mellow (hence the name) and emotional sounding. The notes just fell right into place. No shred, just simple notes...Thanks again!

  • yuo arwe full idiot

  • @urumsamoot The feeling is mutual pal.

  • hey man can you please let me know where you got this backing track from :) very nice playing good job

  • @rancidhotmail This came from guitarbt.com....

  • how did chewies hair get so dark? xD

  • @childrenofbodomfan74 Just lucky I guess...

  • the tops sucked in this era... the shittiest era for Gibson Les Pauls... look at it! It's almost flat!! eeeelllllcchhhhhh!

  • @StratocastLesPaul Whatever...still sounds killer.

  • @StratocastLesPaul I own a dozen Customs. One is a 1978 (Tobacco Sunburst); gorgeous curved top, a finish like glass. So I don't know what you might be referring to. It must depend upon the individual instrument.

  • Another great jam, Dave. Do you use any outboard gear to get your tone like EQ's or is it just guitar -> digitech -> mesa amp -> 2x Marshall 4x12?

  • @gmabilli Thanks much! Its just guitar into digitech (the mesa boggie is power for the digitech only) into the cabs...On this I used my Steve Vai Bad Horsie wah wah half cocked...

  • @ebealienhead i knew it! i guessed it was a cocked wah !

  • Amazing, just like your Pink Floyd style jam, can I ask how the guitar "sings" each note for so long? I believe it's called "sustain"? What do you use? Im planning to buy a Gibby LP Studio.

  • @thedcmule Thanks very much! I'm just plugged in to my Digitech..

The singing notes is my vibrato I guess...I like to dig in on the note and shake it a bit.

  • No... please dont bring my mom back for video number 10 lol.

I gotta pick up another les paul one of these days,, def a custom model.

  • @Stevespeeze Ok...no more mom..lol

  • @Goosey853 No mods....100% factory

  • @Goosey853 Thanks so much ! New clip is ready to shoot but it's been so hot and humid here lately I just have not gotten around to it...soon though, keep watching!

  • EXCELENT! i lovee this guitarr and the way you play! how did u get it to sound like that!?

  • @nerfdude96 Thanks very much! I'm glad you liked it! I was using my Steve Vai

Bad Horsie wah wah pedal half cocked (like Schenker does)...It adds some great tone like that.

  • thanks very much holmes1978 ! I listen to this on my iTouch....very relaxing indeed. glad you enjoyed it! have a glass either way :)

  • How did you get that crazy sustain? Compression or is it all from the guitar? Very nice looking & sounding Les Paul.

  • thank you RaiseItToEleven ! i'm guessing its the guitar...I also had my Steve Vai Bad Horsie Wah Wah half cocked for texture..ala Micheal Schenker...

  • Loved it my friend! The tone, the feeling! Simply amazing playing, congrats! :)

Damn, i forgot the monkey! I'm sending over a banana..

    All the best from Greece!

  • thanks very much UNGETABLE7! banana accepted! he will be thrilled! Hello to Greece~

  • Great playing!

Got a question if that's ok!

I bought a Les paul custom 78 tobacco burst, and it's great in many ways except one thing that buggers me. It doesn't seem to be grounded? Not the original pups anyway. I switched out the bridge t-top for jb-sb and that solved it but the neck pickup still get A LOT of noise when gain is up. Even when I touch the strings. Have you ever noticed a similar problem on your guitars and how did you solve it? Also, I got fretless wonders and love it :)

  • thank you qubaan ! i've never had that problem...did you switch them out yourself? perhaps a music store in you area could give you a hand...i've never done anything electrical to mine at all...

sounds like a killer axe! i love the tobacco burst...

  • haha i love the monkey xD

  • thank you DiosCaxondo ! he'll be back in the future...

  • thanks very much chaosis3 ! glad you enjoyed it!

  • thank so much Danthehorse ! yes, i'm kinda proud of this one...of all my 22 clips i'd 5 really grab me...this is one..

  • Dave u mention that u use a dig 2120, i have nearly the same setup with a 2112. i'm happy with, but i can't quite get your sweet tone? i use a mrshall 2100 mono bloc 100wt per side but still not quite the sweetness you have found. any thing you can think of ? i tweek the users cuz i don't like to many fact settings. do i really need that 68 custom and my faded paul not quite cutting it? close but, help!! aren't the 2112 and 2120 prett y close? Or is it the 1960a slant cab 75 clebs? Fly

  • hi Fly! i only know the 2120...i guess they are similar. for this clip i use the neck pickup...also i'm using my Steve Vai Bad Horsie wah wah pedal half cocked (Schenker did that alot too)...other than that i dunno :)

  • man u are a great guitarrsit!

  • Dave thks you have relit some fire in me! I was in a rut lately and you have inspired me to play more and keep plugging away at it... thanks Sounds great!! Great tone makes me miss my old pauls i either sold or got stolen. I had a 68 fretless custom that i really miss (stolen in 84 never recovered). now just playin a faded paul with suprising tone. Can't compare it to a old custom. So keep it up, some of us know how hard it is to get that good and find the holy grail tone too! fly from seattle

  • thanks very much Fly! glad to you enjoyed it!

too bad about the 68, it would be worth a small fortune today...we can only hope the a**hole who took it appreciates it like you did...

  • thanks very much Fly! glad to you enjoyed it!

too bad about the 68, it would be worth a small fortune today...we can only hope the

a-hole who took it appreciates it like you did...

  • thanks so much plznumbmyheart ! if you liked this one you should like my new one. its posting Tuesday Dec. 30th...please check it out!

  • i want your tone. I have a les paul standard and a marshall jcm2000, i can't seem to get a nice shred sounding solo tone. It always just sounds too cruchy. Any advice?

  • thank you bmwz20 ! perhaps backing off on the gain or using the tone knob...not many players touch the tone knob...it works!

  • beautifull just beautifull make me cry XD

  • thanks so much rockmetalmachine!

  • Yes Dave, bring back the monkey :o)

  • hi ghirapi ! well, i'm putting the new clip together Tuesday Dec 30th and uploading it that nite....for you, the Monkey will return!

  • thanks very much kopakacochiwa ! will do! you too!

  • Killer playing dude.

  • thanks so much keywins !

  • which picks ups do you recomend for gibson les paul standard

  • hi dkrenner ! i've been very happy with a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck, and a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge. this particular clip is the original neck pick up and the bridge is a Dimarzio Super Distortion. i play this all the neck pick up..

  • WOW! That was GREAT!

  • thanks very much JessieBolt !

  • hi great vid. after 6 weeks looking and trying out I bought a gibson les paul custom black gold. I am now looking for an amp. I want to try them all out to find the best sound but can you make any suggestions. Its for home a practice amp. I like blues melodic sounding chords, I like obviously hendrix sound and also your lead sound on this video. I am looking for a very versatile amp for basis then I will get a wah wah to go on top

  • thank you paullwebber ! i'm kinda of out the loop in the new gear dept. but i hear alot of good things about the Peavey joe satriani model..combo or head...

  • 1974x.

18watts from 2 el84s and an awesome tremolo. plus its tube rectified.

  • I really like your playing, man!

    And the monkey's great! :D

  • thanks very much djeikop ! he'll be back soon!

  • thanks so much rorroesdios ! good eye! yes, its a Danelectro! i have 2, a black one and a silver sparkle one. i've never done session work, just a few rock bands over the years. i work in a wine/liquor store. you are a killer player my friend! keep rocking!

  • aahh Common... slapp that guitar a littlle...shes asking for it!

  • thank you Snotra ! she's been slapped plenty...this was a prelude to a slap...hmmm, that could be the working title, no? lol...thanks!

  • thank you edmaximus ! they are my babies~

  • Hi! sorry my English, I am froom Brazil... I found the sound perfect that you obtain with this Les Paul, wanted to know which its your equipment to obtain this clean distortion for solo! thank you!

  • thanks so much guitardiniz ! i use a Digitech 2120 guitar processor powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp, through 2 Marshall 4x12's in stereo...

  • love the monkey! and just wow at the playing and the les paul, just awesome!

I've got my eyes set on a les paul at the moment, 70's to 90's i'm thinking. Any advice you would reccommend with any particular les paul models in particular? im favouring the older models over the "weight relieved" new ones i think.

  • I would recommend a Les Paul Custom because some les paul customs from the 70's and 80's are amazing

  • yes indeed...i love early 70's and late 70's to 83...maple necks...

  • thank you crimsondaydream ! i prefer Customs because i love the look of the ebony fingerboard and block inlays...also the split diamond on the headstock...i'd go for 78-83 Customs beacause they had maple necks...

  • i loved your playing and your monkey!!! but what was that at the very beginning?

  • thank you BeboAltizer ! that was a t-shirt my little niece made all by herself...i just zoomed in on it...she was thrilled i used it in the clip....

  • thank you Nickelbackfreak432 ! singles soulnd flat....thats why i dont play them...humbuckers rule...to me anyway.
