agree!! What a fights but always with full respect and fairness. And now the last boy scout comes back.... Everybody will see the differences what a real driver is. Watch the clip "Belgium GP 1992-the first victory of Michael Schumacher". Senna, Mansell, Patrese, Schumacher.. Or where Nigel Mansel in Monaco nearly head a brake down and couldn't walk because he was total finish.
Thanks I will check it out, there was another time when Mansell suffered third degree burns on his backside after a fueling mishap in the pits, the fuel seeped into is clothing, anyone who has had wet petrol on their skin will know how it burns. Despite that he still finished the race in agony.
Found it! First watch the legends Senna vs. Mansell in Monaco 1992, "Senna vs Mansell", 2:53 and then how Nigel is nearly break down at the celebration. "Senna vs Mansell - F1GP Monaco1992 - After Battle", 5:27. One of the top 5 battles ever.
Senna wasn't stupid. He knew exactely what he was doing. He put his life on the line in 1990 because Prost took HIM OUT IN 1989. Prost invented the "I'll crash into my rival to win the championship". Senna knew that you had to finish the race in order to win!
You judge based on isolated case alone. Consider this. The federation were on a crusade against Senna since his early days and even more so since he moved to McLaren and disrupted Prost's lead in the team. Ballestre simply couldn't have that. A 2nd championship in a row was about to be decided in favor of Prost outside of Senna's control, what was he supposed to do? Not to mention Prost, as an year ago in 89, opened the door for a moment. Prost never complained about the 1990 Suzuka incident...
He should have been given standing ovations for this speech. He puts the finger on the problem, which is the politics, and he explains how it should be instead, fair and good racing on track. Balestre was kind of like Mosely but in one sense he was even worse. He wanted to have an impact on the outcome of races and he openly supported french drivers like Prost. He was disgusting!
You made the prophesy come true. I'm sorry I didn't realise the magnitude of the situation. Balestre is the mirror image of the modern day Mosley and all of us know both were pigs that wore gold rings in their snouts.
I'm still glad for having seen you race because your skill with the wheel never betrayed your feeling for people on or off the circuit.

OK after hearing this for the 1st time, I've come to the conclusion that Senna is a dinosaur. I believe a racer should always keep his emotions in check and not allow anything to distract himself from winning. What Senna did was wrong and childish and the worst example to rookie's. The officials set the rules, that is their job. As a driver, you learn to overcome all obstacles to get the chequered flag. Crashing into your opponenet is not one of them. Hope the next Champion wont be like him.
"good enough to win regardless"? then what is the point of qualifying if you might as well be giving you're lead to Prost? He shouldn't have done what he did, but then again, the FIA shouldn't have done what they did...
Don't you understand, these FIA twats made a promise and unflinchingly broke it - this pissed Senna off. It pissed him off because he knew he's lose the lead straight away - which he did. Wouldn't that piss you off...? It's like giving you're pole to Prost for god's sake...
Schumacher cried like a baby every single time someone used one of his dirty moves on him! Most of the time after he got into a accident he blamed the other driver when 90% of the time it was his fault! Like Senna says in the video, its the politians that have ruined racing, not the drivers! Schumacher was the dirtiest of them all though, and anyone that knows anything wouldnt disagree! Although the guy was great to listen to. I will never forgive what he did at turn one at Suzuka. Before people give me thumbs down for that comment, there's absolutely no excuse for risking the life of a fellow competitor because of being frustrated with a stewards decision. Sure, Michael Schumacher took out drivers, but at slow corners, because he wouldn't risk his and another drivers life, as unacceptable as it was.
Martin Brundle, 1992: "Michael is the quickest driver I ever saw. I never saw anyone learning a new circuit as fast as him. His self confidence is unlimited. I drove against Senna when he was 23 years old. At the age of 23 Senna was not yet a Schumacher. Nowadays Schumacher is a much more complete racing driver than Senna was at the age of 23.
For me this is beyond doubt, and I am the one who is in the best position to compare them."
He maybe could have had a seat, but with Tolemann he could be the first driver. God knows what would've happened if he had a good car from the start of his career.
well williams from 1985-87 = THE car. so we could perhaps add heaps to his totals. But would he get a drive at mclaren immediately after? as without this chance, prost would have dominated 88/89...
We can never tell, fact is that Honda loved Senna, so would they change team (from Williams to McLaren) if they already had Senna in the team? Anyway, not all guys have the luck like Hamilton to get into a winning car from the start, not even Senna. But 'if' and 'when' don't change history.
Nice roundup of 91 from Senna. First time Ive heard his comments about the pole position slot being set on the wrong side. Not very big of him to blame the authorities for his actions at T1. He had no right to put the car there. Resigning yourself to an accident before it's happened is a big no-no in motorsport.
wow that was a good speech, and he stuck 2 his word about what he would do if he lost 1st place from pole in da 1st corner, i wish he had never died, den micheal shumacher wud hav had a tough n entertaining career instead of a boring 1
Ballestre was an asshole,he hated Senna and loved Prost,Senna didnt hate Prost and vice versa, but he hated the Prost-Ballestre-Renault combination..still he shouldnt have put Prosts live in danger, but nobody was bothered by danger in those days.
Dont be daft, the advancements made in safety were as much to do with car development & design, material improvements and the drivers themselves as they were to do with the FIA.
The argument is that the sport is now going backwards, and it doesnt take a genius to work out that if the proposed engine limits/single supplier bullshit comes into force, then its very likely F1 is finished.
Thankfully FOTA is now standing up to the FIA tho, with Mclaren & Ferrari both siding with FOTA.... Yay!!!!
Billabong u are talking out of ur arse, the 1 thing u mention isnt even listed in the proposals being put forward to the WMC next week, it's simply an idea, much like the ridiculous medals system.
And the proposed standardisation is anything but great you dumb-ass, the drivers dont want it, the teams dont want it, the fans dont want it, the sponsors dont want it, even Ferrari dont want it, thats why they (and all the other teams) sided with FOTA rather than the FIA..
Yeah... the teams (via FOTA) objected to the poison dwarfs idea of having a standard unit supplied to all teams. Obviously all the current manufacturers would be excluded, as would almost every other company that builds engines.... with the exception of Cosworth.
Can u imagine Ferrari ditching their pedigree motors for British Cossie units? Not a chance, nor would Mclaren.... or BMW for that matter, they would all form their own series, and Renault would simply withdraw their sponsorship.
Far too dangerous? You imbercile..... you obviously know nothing about formula 1, it's the most technically advanced sport in the world and has been sharing design, materials development, and safety research with the aviation industry for years, and the great Concorde was actually fitted with F1 tyres..
These days drivers can crash head on into a wall at 160mph yet suffer only minor injuries, in fact more people are injured and killed each year in equine events than they are in motorsport..
Why do think the medal system is a good idea tho? They couldnt have tested it, because when the midgit proposed it to the WMC, not a single FIA member or team voted in favour, probably because it was fairly obvious that it was just another opportunity for bernie to devalue Hamiltons title. Had that system always been in place, some of the greatest drivers in F1 history would have lost out on titles that they absolutely deserved. Alain Prost for instance, would have lost 2 of his 4 titles.
I completely agree that driver safety is paramount, but safety has nothing to do with any of the proposals. The current V8 engines simply dont have the torque or the grunt to achieve anything like 250mph, the V12 & V10's could top around 235 but sadly those days are gone.
If you are concerned with safety, Im suprised you havnt mentioned this yrs ban on mid season testing, meaning that car mods & improvements can now only be tested in the race or during free practice! That is anything but safe
Oh how i love ur childish ignorance, when the AirFrance concorde crashed into a hotel in paris after a tyre shredded and blew a hole in its wing bottom skin, its airworthiness cert was revoked. Its take off speed was 240mph, and the only tyres is capable of such speeds were F1 tyres. Once they were fitted, certification was reinstated and it was allowed to fly again, although sadly for a very short time.
sennen222 LOL you idiot, I watched a program a few weeks ago about the demise of concorde, I remember they mentioned about it having to be fitted with uprated tyres..... Formula 1 tyres. Obviously they were made in a different size to those fitted on the cars, but still F1 tyres all the same.
If say, for instance a Yokohama AV008 is made in 185X60X13, and another one is made in 265X35X19...... is it still a Yoko AV008? Yes it is.... you get the idea?
Sennen is right. You can't fit F1 tyres to Concorde. It's frankly moronic that anyone should make that statement. Here's an explanation of the dopey mistake you've made, which Sennen is challenging:
After the crash, Michelin - an F1 tyre manufacturer - introduced the NZG tyre, which drew minimally on technology developed in F1. The compound used a high-modulus reinforcement material, and the tyre was thus rendered less vulnerable to disintegration and heavy tread debris. A four foot tall aviation tyre does not become an F1 item because it's made by an F1 tyre manufacturer, in much the same way that a Rothmans sticker on a Ford Fiesta doesn't make it a Williams.
Well if you read my comments you would see I made a reference to tyre size. The original comments I made related to the strides made in the safety of formula 1, and that the aviation industry, of which ive worked in for the last 15 years an an engineer, shares technology with F1.
Yes, well, I was wondering how this ended up being a snipe-fest about Concorde, but I was directing my point at IceTonk mainly. He seemed to have quite an aggressive way of stating completely daft arguments.
You obviously missed sennens original comment which was aimed at me, he referred to my comments as "utter, utter horseshit", then said "well done, idiot". His arrogant comments achieved a -10 rating by other users, lol.
honestly, growing up I couldn't imagine being anything but a F1 driver. Needless to say this man was my hero. Senna died just after he married that beauty of a woman and I thought, there has to be more to life than F1 racing. He's a true Brazilian hero though, the football team dedicated their '94 world cup triumph to his memory and everyone knows what football means to Brazil.
Honda Racing F1 Team - The arrival of Ross Brawn has rejuvinated the team as they plan toward mounting a challenge for the championship in 2009. The team are set to test the nephew of the late great Aryton Senna, Senna this month, re-uniting the legendary names of Senna and Honda once more
Senna never must forget the world always running in small teams in the rain he was doing the difference, he was a champion it shears maclaren what in the time was not 5 better teams.
without technology, manual march, discomfort inside the car, had not hydraulic direction, totally hard and uncomfortable car. He did the impossible thing be able to be sure! Senna the best pilot and more respeitavel of all the times!

In this video, Senna actually admits he deliberately crashed his car into the points leader in the championship to deny him the title. This is unconcscionable. As Prost himself said, he is a low form of humanity. A great racer, but not a credit to the game. Prost was a true champion.
It's funny to see how people easily forget important facts. Didn't Prost do the same thing to Senna in 1989? It's a year FIA would rather forget after stupid, ridiculous and infamous decisions to punish Senna when Prost crashed his car ON PURPOSE because (he would learn that lesson in time) he couldn't handle Senna's superiority then. In 1990, Senna DID crash Prost's car on purpose for the very same reason. I'd have done exactly the same thing. An eye for an eye. RIP Senna: THE legend.
Just for the record: when I said "for the very same reason" I meant: fighting for the championship. In 1989, Prost was so useless he failed to prevent Senna from winning. Senna succeeded at getting back to the race and winning it. Of course FIA figured that they couldn't let a Brazilian win the championship that time and simply punished Senna.
indauja12! Hey, you broke dick pussy! This Brazilian racing driver was the most talented and celebrated F1 racing driver of the 20th century. Sure, he was an arrogant, in your face kind of guy, unafraid of confrontation and ready to defend his position. These are qualities often found in great Generals, such as George Patton, old blood and guts Patton. A true Man's Man. So, there pencil dick. Rest assured, you'll never measure up!!

He is so right in his analysis, but he should not have done what he did.
He was so sure of his talent he refused a seat in Williams early in his career. To me he remains the all time greatest.
guyafrancois 3 years ago 3
I disagree, he didn't refuse a seat in Williams, there wasn't a seat available for him there, only for testing, maybe.
lntangoda 3 years ago
You are right. I stand corrected.
guyafrancois 3 years ago
He maybe could have had a seat, but with Tolemann he could be the first driver. God knows what would've happened if he had a good car from the start of his career.
WeeLittleS 3 years ago
well williams from 1985-87 = THE car. so we could perhaps add heaps to his totals. But would he get a drive at mclaren immediately after? as without this chance, prost would have dominated 88/89...
calcalcal1 3 years ago
We can never tell, fact is that Honda loved Senna, so would they change team (from Williams to McLaren) if they already had Senna in the team? Anyway, not all guys have the luck like Hamilton to get into a winning car from the start, not even Senna. But 'if' and 'when' don't change history.

Nice roundup of 91 from Senna. First time Ive heard his comments about the pole position slot being set on the wrong side. Not very big of him to blame the authorities for his actions at T1. He had no right to put the car there. Resigning yourself to an accident before it's happened is a big no-no in motorsport.
tenmantaylor 3 years ago 2
wow that was a good speech, and he stuck 2 his word about what he would do if he lost 1st place from pole in da 1st corner, i wish he had never died, den micheal shumacher wud hav had a tough n entertaining career instead of a boring 1

Ballestre was an asshole,he hated Senna and loved Prost,Senna didnt hate Prost and vice versa, but he hated the Prost-Ballestre-Renault combination..still he shouldnt have put Prosts live in danger, but nobody was bothered by danger in those days.

lolaroflmao 2 years ago
Dont be daft, the advancements made in safety were as much to do with car development & design, material improvements and the drivers themselves as they were to do with the FIA.
The argument is that the sport is now going backwards, and it doesnt take a genius to work out that if the proposed engine limits/single supplier bullshit comes into force, then its very likely F1 is finished.
Thankfully FOTA is now standing up to the FIA tho, with Mclaren & Ferrari both siding with FOTA.... Yay!!!!
bmk139 2 years ago 2
the proposals are all great, apart from length of races being cut
billabongodrum 2 years ago
Billabong u are talking out of ur arse, the 1 thing u mention isnt even listed in the proposals being put forward to the WMC next week, it's simply an idea, much like the ridiculous medals system.
And the proposed standardisation is anything but great you dumb-ass, the drivers dont want it, the teams dont want it, the fans dont want it, the sponsors dont want it, even Ferrari dont want it, thats why they (and all the other teams) sided with FOTA rather than the FIA..
bmk139 2 years ago
but the teams proposed other things such as being able to buy a non standard engine, the engine budget not to exceed 8 million euros etc etc
just my opinion but I thought medals was a good idea and should at least of been tested
if it were to come to standard engines, then I wouldn't watch anymore.
billabongodrum 2 years ago
Yeah... the teams (via FOTA) objected to the poison dwarfs idea of having a standard unit supplied to all teams. Obviously all the current manufacturers would be excluded, as would almost every other company that builds engines.... with the exception of Cosworth.
Can u imagine Ferrari ditching their pedigree motors for British Cossie units? Not a chance, nor would Mclaren.... or BMW for that matter, they would all form their own series, and Renault would simply withdraw their sponsorship.
bmk139 2 years ago
"yep and all the drivers would be dead!"
come on man it's not f**king golfing it's supposed to be the ultimate form of MOTRSPORTS!!! death plays an important role especially fear of it!
Dafiew 2 years ago
also far too dangerous
billabongodrum 2 years ago
Far too dangerous? You imbercile..... you obviously know nothing about formula 1, it's the most technically advanced sport in the world and has been sharing design, materials development, and safety research with the aviation industry for years, and the great Concorde was actually fitted with F1 tyres..
These days drivers can crash head on into a wall at 160mph yet suffer only minor injuries, in fact more people are injured and killed each year in equine events than they are in motorsport..
bmk139 2 years ago
I was referring to having cars blasting around circuits at 250mph, the current speeds are enough
you are entitled to your opinion of course, but I thought driver safety was important...
be vigilant
billabongodrum 2 years ago
Why do think the medal system is a good idea tho? They couldnt have tested it, because when the midgit proposed it to the WMC, not a single FIA member or team voted in favour, probably because it was fairly obvious that it was just another opportunity for bernie to devalue Hamiltons title. Had that system always been in place, some of the greatest drivers in F1 history would have lost out on titles that they absolutely deserved. Alain Prost for instance, would have lost 2 of his 4 titles.
bmk139 2 years ago
I completely agree that driver safety is paramount, but safety has nothing to do with any of the proposals. The current V8 engines simply dont have the torque or the grunt to achieve anything like 250mph, the V12 & V10's could top around 235 but sadly those days are gone.
If you are concerned with safety, Im suprised you havnt mentioned this yrs ban on mid season testing, meaning that car mods & improvements can now only be tested in the race or during free practice! That is anything but safe
bmk139 2 years ago 2
yes you are right, but at least if the worst happens there will be full medical support, rather than the skeletal one that attends/attended tests
when you get to the great racetrack in the sky ask Elio De Angelis about that.

Your point about Concorde being fitted with F1 tyres is utter, utter horseshit. Well done, idiot.
sennen222 2 years ago
Oh how i love ur childish ignorance, when the AirFrance concorde crashed into a hotel in paris after a tyre shredded and blew a hole in its wing bottom skin, its airworthiness cert was revoked. Its take off speed was 240mph, and the only tyres is capable of such speeds were F1 tyres. Once they were fitted, certification was reinstated and it was allowed to fly again, although sadly for a very short time.

I have no idea where you get your information from. You are deluded.
sennen222 2 years ago
sennen222 LOL you idiot, I watched a program a few weeks ago about the demise of concorde, I remember they mentioned about it having to be fitted with uprated tyres..... Formula 1 tyres. Obviously they were made in a different size to those fitted on the cars, but still F1 tyres all the same.
icetonky 2 years ago
If they are a different size, then by definition they are not F1 tyres, are they. Please provide proof of your claims.
sennen222 2 years ago
If say, for instance a Yokohama AV008 is made in 185X60X13, and another one is made in 265X35X19...... is it still a Yoko AV008? Yes it is.... you get the idea?
bmk139 2 years ago 2
Sennen is right. You can't fit F1 tyres to Concorde. It's frankly moronic that anyone should make that statement. Here's an explanation of the dopey mistake you've made, which Sennen is challenging:
IShallTellYouWhat 2 years ago
After the crash, Michelin - an F1 tyre manufacturer - introduced the NZG tyre, which drew minimally on technology developed in F1. The compound used a high-modulus reinforcement material, and the tyre was thus rendered less vulnerable to disintegration and heavy tread debris. A four foot tall aviation tyre does not become an F1 item because it's made by an F1 tyre manufacturer, in much the same way that a Rothmans sticker on a Ford Fiesta doesn't make it a Williams.
IShallTellYouWhat 2 years ago
Well if you read my comments you would see I made a reference to tyre size. The original comments I made related to the strides made in the safety of formula 1, and that the aviation industry, of which ive worked in for the last 15 years an an engineer, shares technology with F1.
bmk139 2 years ago
Yes, well, I was wondering how this ended up being a snipe-fest about Concorde, but I was directing my point at IceTonk mainly. He seemed to have quite an aggressive way of stating completely daft arguments.
IShallTellYouWhat 2 years ago
You obviously missed sennens original comment which was aimed at me, he referred to my comments as "utter, utter horseshit", then said "well done, idiot". His arrogant comments achieved a -10 rating by other users, lol.

honestly, growing up I couldn't imagine being anything but a F1 driver. Needless to say this man was my hero. Senna died just after he married that beauty of a woman and I thought, there has to be more to life than F1 racing. He's a true Brazilian hero though, the football team dedicated their '94 world cup triumph to his memory and everyone knows what football means to Brazil.

DanielLegendaryJarl 3 years ago
Just for the record: when I said "for the very same reason" I meant: fighting for the championship. In 1989, Prost was so useless he failed to prevent Senna from winning. Senna succeeded at getting back to the race and winning it. Of course FIA figured that they couldn't let a Brazilian win the championship that time and simply punished Senna.
