hi Ean. I have an sl25 and i have a small problem with it. i used to have a axiom 61 and i was able to play notes on the pads. in sl25 the problem is that i can only setup the pads to play on fixed amount of time, from the sl25 menu. do you know if it's possible to play the pads as you play the piano keys on the controller ? if yes how can i do it. Thank you.

Hey Ean, I have been trying to map my 25SL MkII all night... (Painful!!) I actually have all my stuff taped off like yours, but i'm having issues with my drum pads and the ability to multi hit and play queues... If I hit it multiple times it will only register one hit unless I hold off and wait a few seconds or hit another drum pad, then I can register multiple hits.... Is there a sensitivity setting I have to tweak somewhere? Also, if you have a premapped TSI I could have that would be amazing!

sorry just to clarify... the two RCA outputs are running into two seperate channels on the mixer? what if i wanted to use 4 decks on traktor? is there something that will have 4 RCA outputs instead of two? thanks.

ive been curious for awhile, with gigs you obviously can bring your own pioneers and your mixer and hook it up to the main system and rock with that the whole ngith right? of do clubs have everythign hooked up for you and you come in and use that? lately ive been wondering how that whole engineeering basic setup works and how to do it properly or where i can learn it

Almost all clubs have most if not all the equipment you need. Djs bring along devices specific to their preference. Like midi keyboards or controllers that are premapped usually and they are used to. All music devices are basically the same so you can practise on your own at home and go to a club and do it all.

who said I was not manually beat matching? everything is done by ear- you dont have to have turntables to manually beatmatch perfectly.

DJs spin records well you maybe DJ too but most of the videos you've been doing livesets which is even more complicated then mixing and you should have cred for that =)

Who cares? Beat matching is only the most basic skill for a DJ. If something so basic can be automated and it allows the DJ to focus on actually manipulating the music, then I'm for it.

i see that you use the joystick to activate the effect but also to adjust the dry/wet. am i right?

but what happens if you want to adjust the signal differently on each deck?

for example add some reverb to ch 1 and delay to ch 2, but have the ch 1 at 25% and ch 2 at 100%.

you use vertical axis for ch 1 and horizontal axis for 2? you dont take care about using the fx independently on each channel?

i dont think he adjust manually the pitch. it would be a waste of time since traktor has a great built in bpm counter.

anyways its nice to have a pitch bend for fine adjusting (nothing is perfect)

im entitled to be a keyboard warrior now and againe i admit iv got a natural hard-on for my 57sl but everything mr dj Ean did with the 25sl you can "if wanted" solely do that all with the beloved 57sl granted its a HELL OF A| LOT FIDDLY nice vid though i like the way the effects work im geting me a Novation 25sl soon for ableton totaly dident think of useing it for Dj set up im all excited now good to show us.

It looks like it is the highest end Macbook that you can get. Prolly has maxed out ram and stuff. I use a Macbook at home with my personal mixing and it is enough power to do 2 deck mixing with an external midi/turntable controller.

ive got a kontrol49 but couldnt get traktor to pick up my midi signals or anything. works fine in vdj and reason and fl tho. :/ any ideas?

yeah- the only time I have problem is if I connect my midi controllers after you start traktor. then they wont show up, as they need to be there at start up. Does that fix it?

wow it takes so long to set up!!! i can't get the display to work though, which template would you start with to see the value of each controls?

because if you start blank it takes ages having to assign a CC number to each encoder etc.

so which template do you start with, and how do you assign them in traktor so the values show up?

5 minutes from backpack to playing with all that gear is really short. Some guys spend 30 minutes in sound check connecting cables and gear. I dont start with any template. Everything has been built from scratch including the Novation settings and the Traktor TKS file. yes, it took me at least 8 hours to assign and design all the controls.
