@richardwiebe Some drugs like marihuana actually help people to achieve higer levels of this "Deep looking" that you're talking about. I'm a musician and a photographer and even though I haven't smoked pot for 3 years Marihuana did open my mind A LOT. It makes you interpolate thoughts, reality perception, philosophy, arts, science, etc in a way that is almost impossible while being sober. In fact there's only a few handful of artists that I know who haven't tried marihuana once.
