im a big WWII history nerd and i think that when parents say you cant learn anything from game well everything thing about the game is history the battles, weapons, people who were there, events that took place, how life style was in the 40's, or even what is was the Germans and Japanese were doing. the Japanese were killing and torturing all american prisoners, the Germans were executing jews in the death camps, and sad to say but Americans for a long time were killing Japanese prisoners.

The war could have ended in favor of Allies anyway. If japan didn't give up even after US nuked tokyo, US just could have dropped more nukes until japan gave up or wait until massive US invasion on main island. Not to mention, Soviet Union was preparing to invade japan from Vladivostock and Kuril islands. Either way, japan was fucked whether the bomb was dropped or not.

@zeonmx Yes but if Downfall went through then thousands of Americans would not be coming home the number of US servicemen killed on Iwo and Okiniwa combined would be nothing compeared to the losses on mainland japan.
But by this point the allies and soviets had started to fall out the soviet where reding an invasion of japan but the US did not want this 1. because it would have strenghted Communism in the pacific
2. left Japan a split country like Korea or Germany with ex a communist north

1. to prevent a Communist pacific like how capitalists and communists were fighting in Asia and Europe
2. to crush any soviet thought about attacking the west.

Thats stupid they show bad pics on Germans and Japanese but good ones on Americans, the Americans cut off the routes for the Japs to transport thier oil and thier calling the Japs evil?! What would America do if the Japs cut off the gas Americans use to power thier cars and other utilities? I'm in the U.S military and yes I admit I do respect the enemy I fight. Americans wanted revenge. just like 9/11, everyone was ready to beat some ass. at the same time we liberated europe and crushed the nazis and their european expansion.
