The reason for the abandoned property is that this used to be the "main" corridore between the Florida Turnpike and Disney, traffic coming in from the east, then with the addition of exits and highways to the north the corridore traffic just died. then came the hispanics and property values plummeted as crime skyrocketed.
You know what always gets me? All this abandonned stuff and people keep building new shit instead of using what's already there or at least tearing stuff down and building on the grey-field sites. We as a people need to learn how to re-use our things instead of making more crap.

@10191927 I live in saint cloud and drive on 192 everyday to work and yes, Kissimmee is getting pretty bad with the amount of abandonedment, I actually used to work at that perkins you shot. Kissimmee's disney tourist area has declined cause all kinds of new stuff has since been built closer to disney. I remember they even considered saint cloud a disney tourist area.
We have the same problem up here in Minnesota. I don't know about another Depression, but I know too many of the same businesses when everyone is pinching pennies is bound to close a few businesses. Restaurants have been been closing alot up here-and actually the ones surviving are like fast food or high end cuisine-no gray area in between.
I can't believe all that many businesses closed down. The Chinese resturant surprised me most of all. Did you guys have a crime problem, or did the area have bad financial troubles before 2008?

On my side of town, you could drive 15 minutes one way and wind up in a nice neighborhood, then fifteen minutes another way you got all the homeless people, prostitutes, and sort of slummy areas. This is all before 2008. Some were from 2008, but that chinese restaurant has been like that for 15 years.
The beaners (Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, etc.) took over, What do you expect?
