I grew up in NY and my little 13 year old self just knew this was from California and the ZEN label I didn't even know what zen was until a few more years but it was good I never heard anything more of them I think it came out around the time California Sun by the Rivieras was out another california band I liked but I never heard another record from them either thanks for the posting
In October 1961, I recorded 2 demo's at WENTZELS Music Town in Downey, CA. The Pastels were the group Pop WENTZEL used as his studio musicians. They didn't know either song I did so I had to sing them acapella and they picked up on them that way. They did a great job and made me sound good. Search Jim Cava on YT and take a listen.
rare, thanx so much for this post. this was such a cool song when I was in high school. me and a gal danced to this at a a prom or some other school dance and I fell in love with her ( I was a lousy dancer but so were all the rest of the boys).
I remember going to the Cinnamom Cinder to see them perform in 1964...there were actually 7 of them! I was from a small town in Illinois and just not used to getting to see a group that made the charts...
Geez- I can't get this crazy song out of my head!!! Especially its a very nice dance part :-)
