  • Thanks for singing an awesome aussie song and I hope some more songs

  • I just showed this to a friend of mine, who comes from a town where this sort of complicated family is pretty common! Raised a smile.

    Good singing and playing.

  • great song. found you from rpeek, the banjo player. glad I did. tom

  • Phil, I have loved this song ever since I saw Uncle Floyd do it on his TV show on WOR channel 9 wayyy back when. I can't seem to get all the chords, any chance you could send them or post them?

    Thanks

  • @iamdave47 I use a capo and I play it in C position. The chords are C,F,G,Dm, and D. The one that may be hardest to figure out is the Dm.

  • That's the one I'm missing!!!!! Thanks, I appreciate the response. Love the video, love the way you do the song.

    Regards

    Dave

  • Well done! Just as good if not better than anyone else could do.

  • seems like when i was a kid i heard grandpa jones do this somewhere

  • Could be. Lots of folks have done this one. Lonzo and Oscar did it on the Opry several times, so maybe you're thinking of them.

  • well done! :-D

  • If you think I suck at this, you should see me eat spaghetti. I really suck at that.

  • great song and well played. and great attitude toward the people that have negative ones

  • hehe nice

  • haha touche touche.

  • Do you have to be rude, crude & unsophisticated?

I thought he did a fine job on an old classic front porch song.

  • Now if my wife is my grandmother, then I'm her grandchild,

And everytime I think of it, it nearly drives me wild,

For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw

As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa!

    I'm my own grandpa.

    I'm my own grandpa.

It sounds funny, I know, but it really is so,

    Oh, I'm my own grandpa.

  • Now many, many years ago, when I was twenty-three,

I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.

This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red.

My father fell in love with her, and soon they, too, were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life,

My daughter was my mother, cause she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy,

I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

  • Yeah, Mr Greer...send lyrics!! Please!! (Or maybe post 'em up?)

  • how did you learn the lyrics?

  • It took a while.

  • Nice :D

  • well done!

  • This is great. I wish I had the lyrics!

  • ahhhh wheres the engineers hat in this video?

  • This was my first YouTube video, and I forgot the hat. It was more of an experiment to see if I could get it to work. I just didn't want to redo it.

  • ROCK ON GRANDPA!!!! WOO HOO!!! good job remembering! thats so sweet.

  • good playing ^_^

  • ..o", u go grandpa!!!!hahaha..

    pretty good..

  • nice job remembering all of that

  • FREAKY!

  • HAW HAW .. good one.

  • u really look like your grandpa!

  • hey i found it on ur website and i clicked on it and the computer put me on youtube p.s i really like it

  • His STEPdaughter married his dad. Yes, you may not need the extra stuff in the song, but it wouldn't exactly make it a song anymore.

Hmm, "Hi, I married a widow. Her daughter married my dad. Now I'm married to my stepdaughter's mom, which is my wife's daughter's mom, which is my wife's daughter's mom's daughter's mom, thereby making me my own grandpa because I'm married to my grandma."

Yeah, good song. We ALL know it doesn't NEED the extra stuff, but if that happened it would suck.

  • Here's a better one: You jump from a cliff;Everyone else with common sense thinks it's a stupid idea. One less person to point out that "Rain is wet." Everyone wins. You fail life. PS: 500 character limit isn't going to limit my need to post my feelings.

  • ya i no stepdaughter but i just said daughter 2 save time

  • and look at how much time it saved you, you had too make 2 comments instead of one

  • funny song and awesome job covering it. 5/5 stars

  • ur great this song is hard for me to sing, and i cant get the rythem right so you are amazing :D

  • This is very confusing...

  • LMAO

  • austin you SUCK. You're a typical immature punk for a 20 year old. GROW UP AZZ HOLE! This video rocks!!

  • I don't know where this somg came from, but I don't know how someone could just make this stuff up. I can easily see how this could be based on a true story.

  • SUPERB JOB ~ but, what's SCARY is that **I** must be, at least, APPROACHING something along that line. A man who used to be by brother-in-law, finally, "wised up" {one might say} and divorced my sister and married my niece ~ making him, no, my nephew; so-o-o-o, in referring to the SAME "specimen", I changed from a brother-in-law to an uncle with just the sharing of a few words ~ "Divorce decree granted" & "I, now, pronounce you"; so-o-o, this stuff, really, CAN happen.

  • Good job! Love this song, though it's confusing LOL! :)

  • I love it! You guys (ya'll, I'm in Arkansas)are fantastic!

  • this guys pretty awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • veyr well done cover......

  • super cool

  • Nice

  • GREAT job. I loved it :D

  • This is great--how fun and creative! Great silly song!

  • ray stevens.

  • 1 word...w0w

  • that was great, i enjoyed that, ur voice is perfect for that song

  • that very good! well done

  • whoo! love this song! XD

  • Yeah, and you're really 34.

  • actually if all of that happened in that exact order, he actually would be his own grandpa. i figured it out.

  • this video SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shoot, this is nothing compared to the way I eat spaghetti. I REALLY suck when I eat spaghetti.

  • atleast he tries..what do you do besides make assenine comments on other peoples videos?

  • drums, guitar, rock band, snowboard, wakeboard, lots of stuff you noob

  • wow and you don't even have 1 video.

  • awesome

  • i like that song... my grandpa sings it to me all the time. good voice

  • awesome!

  • good work :)

  • I feel your pain...Im also my own Grandpa.

  • funny i know a german song that called so : Mein Opa das bin ich . but with another melodie. thers the text

  • how much fun is this? wow!! pretty good lmao

  • May I have the chords, please?!!

  • The chords you are having trouble with are probably D minor, followed by a D major.

  • ROFL! Nice try

  • I learned this one from Spike Jones - thanks for a great laugh.

  • A great one from the past. I had an uncle who used to recite "The Cremation of Sam McGee", following up with a fine rendition of "Grandpa" accompanied on...ukelele!

    Thanks for the memories.

  • I played this at work and everyone at the Coop joined in the corase. It was quite a sight and made for a quite rest of the day as we ran the customers off!

    MIke T

  • I reckon! lol That was all right. I have heard it many times in the bluegrass style around here.

  • Too funny! Can't wait for more!
