  • Such sadness in his voice; how many can convey such sentiment nowadays.

  • Love your songs..But I must tell you, Jimmy Davis did NOT write this song. Floyd Tillman did..Floyd also told me who wrote other songs that Gov.Jim said he wrote.. Floyd was like a father to me. I was with him and holding his hand when we lost him early morning 8/22/03..I am sure you would like to research and amend your posting.. Later years Jimmy shared with Floyd as co-writers.. I am sure this was an oversite.thanks for all your songs..
  • @hillbilly2bill

Jimmy Davis is also known as the writer of 'You Are My Sunshine', but apparently that's not true either. Marty also sang 'It Makes No Difference Now' on one of his 'Spotlight' shows and special guest Faron Young actually says 'That's an old Jimmy Davis number' so you see hillbilly2bill he was wrong too.

  • Hi Tarquin45, Yes Floyd told me years ago who did write You Are My Sunshine..don't quote me but seems like it was tompson.. or something with a son at the end of his name.I would have written it down but I was driving Floyd back from receiving the Lone Star State HOF award.. it was in 2002.. if I can find out I will pass it on to you.. Actually Faron was correct as Jimmy Davis made the song popular but he didn't write it..thanks for your reply..hillbilly
  • Beautiful, is there any song that Marty couldn`t do a great job of ?,

  • @ageing trucker I don't know of any,he couldn't be touched on his own songs and he was as good or better then most of the songs he covered,

  • Yes ,when country was country, and ''singers'' could sing. Most of the country singers today are ok they sing in tune, but can they put passion ,pain, unrequited love into a song, just with the tone of their voice no , not many of them can.

  • when country was country hes the greatest of all time with his type singing

  • Lovely. Such feeling. Loved his early ones so much.
