  • After watching this video i dont see that communism is that bad

  • Is it true that they have people riding the subways for show when visitors come, but the subways are closed down otherwise?

  • Nice video! Well done!!

  • Wow, all the traditional dresses are marvellous! The North Korean music and textiles are really wonderful too; so retro and awesomely tacky!

  • I think she liked you. lol, I never seen a happy North Korean in my life? This is amazing. Did Kim Jung Ill die?

  • @shadowhunter388 what are the lotto numbers for saturday, mate?i need them for germany please! :D

  • @dontobby89 lol what?

  • I like this and i think I will get my hair done next time I am in town. I usually do not want to waste so much time but this looks like a good thing to do - and film. I love the DPRK music.

  • sadly the pyongyang elite of 1 million-2 million are living a life you only live in your dreams

  • great video. brings a very humanistic perspective on DPRK.

  • What is the song at the end?? Different lyrics but same tube as dpr korea anthem

  • this video is so good...

  • great little film, thanks.

  • Kim Jong Il wannabe 8:01 lol

  • the red cravat is awesome!

When i was a kid i was hopefully to tie the cravat as a young pioneer

  • Northern Korea ..a George Owellian Animal Farm...

  • @pyeon That book sucks lol

  • 1st song - 내 이름 묻지마세요

...anyone know the titles of the other songs?

  • I love your Mohawk...

  • it was more than just a haircut (an interesting one at that), but it suprisingly a VERY good video.

  • Hmm.

  • Well done, thumbs up!

  • is that a Kim Il-Sung or an Italy flag badge you got there?

  • @littlepiepie

It's actually a second hand North Korean flag lapel I picked up.

  • This is real north korea.

  • Individuals in these severe socialist countries or dictatorship are rather uncorrupted and nicer. Yet as a country it's a totally different story. The scary thing is that some people often forget these differences.

  • Fasinating video!!!! Indeed, Kim Hye-Sun seemed like a very cool woman -- and, that face massage thing she did looked relaxing. Really, your video gave some nice insight into this closed nation. Just glad you got out after getting the DPRK doo ... :) Just curious, how much did the haircut cost in USD?

  • ...

  • STEVE -- please! Where can I get these songs? I have some also that I can send you... but I really like these songs also.

  • Amazing video. Thank you, Steve!

  • what kind of camera did you use

  • I'm going in august

  • This is very nice, but a read in a newspaper that the hairdresser was sentenced to death and is now dead. It's a shame on you, but very nice video though. [*]

  • Where can I download some of these Pochonbo MP3s? I also have a few DPRK "gayo" songs if you're interested...

  • @statis hahaha "pochonbo mp3"

  • wow what a great film! absolutely brilliant!

  • All the people are the same; with same needs and wants AND rights.

It is just that in some cases, a few, a very few, a few thousands consume what 20 some million should share. It has shown over and over again power concentrated on a few equals poverty for the mass. May God bless those in N Korea.

  • I could see that there are only few cars on the street and all of them are from in 70 to 80s. maybe they don't have enough gas for cars. Pyongyang looks like "totally dead city" I feel pity to those poor people who live in there.

  • this is simply amazing- thanks for uploading.

    what an extraordinary sight.

  • Wow! I am also a South Korean and I never knew how modern Pyongynag is!

Its amazing how information is so limited about our northern neighbor. I was taught to believe that life in North Korea is very miserable. Its interesting to see Pyongyang citizen on their daily lives without censorship by the government.

This is an eye-opener for me! And look how deep the subway goes!!! WOW!

  • It's awesome!!!xD THANK YOU VERY MUCH STEVEN GONG!!

I'm Korean(South), always wanted to know about North Korean people because the all informations are limited : /

    it's beautiful^^

  • Just curious....They seem very happy up there...andthen..why do they need food from other countries ???

  • @crocreek It's an illusion, honestly.

  • Too bad that was the nicest part of the country where the most loyal have earned the privlige to live.

  • North Korea is a fascinating country, everyone is so completely indoctrinated. It's a wonder how nobody's taken out Kim Jong-il yet.

  • @burningfajitasalt it's said that Kim Jong-il can assume direct control of any indoctrinated North Korean

  • @Dodes15

    ASSUMING CONTROL

  • @emptyangel ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

  • @Bleopping I KNOW YOU FEEL THIS

  • @GeneralMillss THIS HURTS YOU

  • Awesome video :-)

  • Awsome video :-)

  • Perused an article in Korean newspaper (일간 플러스) here in Koreatown, Los Angeles. For some reason or maybe because North Korea is my mom's and my grandmother's mother land, I always get fascinated with NK. Lovely music although sounds quite outdated ^.^

  • Half of the people are probably actors.

  • What a great video. nice quality and editing. reallly awsome job tho :)

  • 저기 김일성 김정일 저 돼지같은 인간들 사진은 좀 내려줫음 좋겟구먼 왜 저래 북한은

  • Hello. Very interesting video. The kind I always wanted watch about North Korea. But I am just a bit worried about your guide. She might have got imprisoned or even been tortured for letting you take the video. I know it was a hidden spy kind of video but still North Korea will blame everything on her, even if she had no idea you were filming.

  • poor people. I feel so lucky that I was born in safe place. not in hell. omg...Thank GOD!!THANK YOU MOM , DAD!!!!

  • Let's see a video of the area's of NK that they don't want rest of the world to see where people are starving and being tortured.

  • No secretly captured videos on legitimate foreign investment and business - yes, there is - in North Korea can be watched on businessnk (youtube).

  • What a sweet lady!!

  • that is one long escalator

  • @bubbles02010 very long... i feel like i might fall off it just by looking at it... =(

  • Ah, the one of only 2 underground stations you are allowed to visit. I went for a shave when I was there last year. Search DPRK on flicker for North Korean pictures. You can go in with Koryo Tours. Its around E1600 for a week.

  • defecters are talking about recent food shortages. i guess pyongyang is one of the cities that recieves adequate rations but many people are starving in the countryside

  • I miss my Korean haircuts .. How did you manage to go to North Korea? I hear they treat tourists really well.

  • very interesting!
