Pinky Pie got Minty's personality mixed with her own, Rarity got a color change (she was pink and yellow) and got Rainbow Dash's personality, I don't know how much they changed Fluttershy they made her more shy and cute, Applejack actually went BACK to her original design.

None of them are new ponies! Except Twilight Sparkle but she's based on Twilight the horse that asked the moon to make her wish come true which was to make the stars shine so everyone could wish.

@AntonyBlalock Yeah, even though they reuse a few names, everybody gets scrambled between generations, so it takes a while to figure out. So far from this movie I've learned that Sunny Daze was previously the athletic one with rock 'n' roll behind her, and Kimono was the one who could concentrate to make her hair blow without wind, I guess?
