i know quite a bit about nutrition and training (i used to be a personal trainer, academically studied nutrition)...and i'm not trying to lose or gain weight...as long as a stay away from wheat, too much fiber, tomatos, and a lot of milk..i have no major health problems, am mostly calm, and my thought process is clear...wheneven i drift away from the diet, and eat the above products i get sick...the paleo diet is not perfect..but it is going in the right directions..keep up the good work Cordain
the poster of the video is suggesting that a person might eat 3000 cal/day...is that the average american?...Cordain is not suggesting this...let's be more realistic...@ 2000 cal/day..that would be 150 gm/pro/day...@ 1800 cal/day, that would be 135 gm/pro/day...@ 1500 cal/day, that would be 112 gm/pro/day...for a person eating a healthy diet, that would be more realistic...now let's use me as an example...i'm very fit, @ 210 lbs..and 9% bodyfat...i eat about 1800-2000 cal a day...see following..
@ipalm21 Further, the use of the average weight US human to determine maximal protein intake was for the purpose of getting at an already averaged sampling size for normal American humans for translational consistency.
Optimal protein intake would not be at the cusp of deleterious health effects from high protein intake, i.e. maximal protein intake.
@ipalm21 Maximal protein intake is a) the result of the average human with normal liver function, b) the average highest amount of protein consumption before negative health consequences have the greatest likelihood of occurring, based on scientific observation and testing. Your focus on the fact that the BMI of the average American human is overweight (but not obese), is a distraction from the fact that weight is not direct factor at all; liver function is.
@ipalm21 You are truly retarded. When you are half-assedly critiquing Cordain's text on protein rates you conflate and misinterpret several things. First of all, SYNTHESIS RATE versus PROTEIN INTAKE: "maximal RATE OF UREA SYNTHESIS (MRUS)" is 65 mg /Nh - kg of body weight, versus "maximal PROTEIN INTAKE". The MRUS is the AVERAGE RATE from the range of a GROUP of test subjects (55-76 MRUS).do you know what the difference between "maximal" and "optimal" protein intake is?
This guy sounds like a complete moron and offers no proof. Active people eat 6000 calories...what planet is he living on??? Does he have any idea how much food that would be?
@isforbliss Well, you are wrong. Evolutionary biologist RIchard Dawkins says that both extant Pan species in Africa are humans closest relatives, the chimpanzee and the bonobo. So you are either a liar or a retard who doesn't know how to use Google. Either way, you aren't logical. Maybe you need more protein in your diet to eliminate your brain fog. You can substitute it for your dogma.

This is a good video, I am going to change what I eat based on this.

who is our closest plant relative?

@ipalm21 I think Orangutan is presently accepted. Cordain is referring to Chimps
