That's exactly how I eat my ham egg and cheese muffins. My eggs have to be runny in the middle but I usually fry my eggs on the stove top. Also, no ketchup for me. Just a tiny bit of sea salt will do. No breakfast food satisfies me like these do. You sir. Have great taste.
Breakfast time is my favorite part of the day, looks absolutely delicious I am literally drooling over my laptop. Keep m coming OriginalNakedChef your the best..!
I got a pair of the pods, I will have to time it, you can't tell by eye, mine looked cooked but were a bit underdone in the middle. Bit of practice and these will be a favorite.
"try and give a good size egg", something you should be telling the hens - too funny. I love your floating egg poachers and, I too, love to keep the yolk a bit runny, it adds that wonderful gooey sauce component to the whole thing!!!
@OriginalNakedChef I tried using the method where you need to spin the water a lot while adding salt to it, and the poach egg kinda losses all the white xD. I love poached egg so I will be trying your method since it turned out really great!
I use a small amount of vinegar in the water but no salt.
It can be a bit tricky.
When the water is spinning you need to have the egg in a small bowl so you can gently release and pour the egg close to the water. The idea is that the white part of the egg starts to wrap around the yellow yolk.
The pods that I used do make life easy and give great results.
Well done for trying though and maybe you can try again another day :)
Nice one Chef! Lovely! Hey, Have you ever tried Duck eggs? They are extremely Rich & tasty! If you like the Yoke, you're in for a treat! It's so tasty, buttery even! But they aint cheap! lol! And they need a good Jon Pertwee Karate Chop to open them up! "HYYAHH!" By the way, have you started 'compressing/limiting' the audio? Maybe you were just a bit closer to the cam-mic or had Zoom-mic on. Anyway, thanks again! =)
A while ago I was going to make some scotch eggs using duck eggs but never got around to it. At some stage I should include duck eggs in one of my vids. I had better get training ready for the karate chop :)
Not sure what 'compressing/limiting' the audio is. I normally just talk & hope for the best! The audio does sound slightly different depending on what side of the camera I am. I use the built in camera mic.
Well, the trouble with Sound quality is that it's different to every user. Some use Loudspeakers, Monitors, PC Pairs, etc. I'm using Mastering Monitor Headphones(MDF-7506) at the moment, & apart from a Little Clip (Digital Distortion) at 3:27, it's perfect for this home made style =) You can tell by the ambience & accoustics of your Kitchen. Comp/Limit is when you reduce the dips in volume (Or the Peeks - Limiting) so you can keep it constant. Like Formula1!
Sorry for slow reply. I didn’t see this reply in my inbox.
I occasionally adjust the audio volume to keep it consistent all the way through. Also at the very start & ends of some clips before the speach, I sometime fade the audio in and out and then overlap, this seems to help to make the joins less noticeable & gives a better flow. But I am no expert.
I guess that I have been ‘Comp/Limiting without knowing it :)
@OriginalNakedChef You're doing fine Chef! Who am I kidding?!!! Your Videos are very high end quality, & you take your time, which is such a refreshing change to the Flash edits that are in Big Budget TV Shows! I hate that! "Home Made" sums up your channel & you should be proud to show up these other hot shots at their own game! I was only curious to see if you processed the sound before hand. It's perfect just the way it is! I'd watch an hour+ long Xmas Turkey Vid if YOU made it! Ha ha!
It's good to know that the quality is good. I know some viewers do find my vids too long! It's good to hear opinions from both sides though :)
Funny enough I was thinking of buying a turkey on the weekend but no success this time, a little to early. I think a 1-hour turkey vid may just be pushing it a bit too far though, although on the other had maybe a good remedy to put some viewers to sleep :)
Thanks for all your comments and technical knowledge.
poaching! never even thought of that. i always wondered how they got the eggs so perfectly shaped, poaching seems to be it. otherwise fry it in a ring or something.
how long do i poach to get the egg fully cooked?
if we don' have a poachpod, how else can I neatly poach an egg? a ladle?
Egg poachers do make a perfectly neat shaped egg. Before I made the video I was looking for things around the kitchen that I could use instead of an egg poacher. Never tried a ladle though. The only problem you would have with a ladle is not being able to place a lid on the pan to create enough steam. “ZombiedustXXX” left a comment below. He used a ring quite effectively; you could give that ago if you have a ring.
what kind of egg poaching tool is that? You know where I can get one? Looks real handy, I'm fed up eating boiled eggs and want to reduce my fat/cholesterol intake by not frying them every time.
MARTIAL KITCHEN here. Have you ever been cooking and thought I really want to kick someone in the head?
If you answered yes, then MARTIAL KITCHEN is the place for you, so come on over and learn great recipes, funny restaurant reviews and see a guy in a kilt get kicked in the head!
I believe what I cooked can be called poached eggs. See below:
Oxford Dictionary definition of poached: “cook (an egg) without its shell in or over boiling water”
Also look up ‘poached egg’ in Wikipedia & within the 1st paragraph it says “It is quite common for a small pat of butter or margarine to be added to the container for the egg, to prevent the egg sticking to its container.”
Plus search Amazon for ‘poached egg’ it has around 15 poached egg makers including the one I used.
Ref the vinegar: I will have to disagree with your opinion that "you certainly don't need vinegar".
I believe vinegar should be added to the water as it begins to boil, as this will help the egg white to coagulate more quickly and form a neat and compact shape.
I have seen people complain about the silicone cups making the eggs hard to remove via web-reviews, but it seems prepping the cups with butter works nicely. The yolk is awesomely runny!
I use "egg rings" like McDonald's. I use a teflon frying pan with the egg rings, and plenty of non-stick spray. Toss a bit of water outside the rings...and cover the med-hot frying pan on low heat. The added water, along with the covered pan, steams the top of the eggs.
When I first saw the egg pods a while ago, I thought they looked like a nice simple gadget. I would defiantly recommend the butter in the bottom.
I have seen the rings being used without water and they just look like a circular fried egg. Your idea of adding the water and a lid sounds like a good idea and a good alternative to my egg pods.
As for the yolk, that was really nice and very easy to achieve.
If you don’t have a poached egg maker of any type it will be tricky!
There is a technique to make poached eggs using boiling water & vinegar.
The technique is to use boiling water spinning in a large pot creating a whirlpool. Then carefully pour the egg in close to the water. The idea is the white of the egg wraps around the yolk when spinning and turns into a poached egg.
I like the idea but can see that some viewers would find that technique tricky.
Not much 'cooking' involved, but it's a great idea. Anything that gives people something else to try rather than a fry-up or cereal has to be good! Looking forward to the next one!
i have seen them egg ponds in the shops and often wondered if they will work ,well im glad they are easy to use and will be buying them :) i love making these and usually use a fried egg but poached is much heathier :)
@OriginalNakedChef Not really, but luckily i have some great parents still in the UK, so i will make sure muffins are on their shopping list :) I might have to wait a while for them though :D
What an interesting way to cook eggs! Never seen that before, I have to look around at local stores if I can get myself one of those. And great recipe, looked really delicious at the end :)
I must admit, I have not had an egg poacher for years. I wanted something quick and simple that worked well. To me these were ideal and do the job nicely. Over the years these egg poachers have become very popular and should be reasonably easy to buy.
They muffins were really yummy and between you and me I ate both :)
I just had my brekkie, boring muesli. I want one of these now!!! I'm off to lakeland to get one of those poach pods too! Damn you making me spend money! lol.
Sorry about getting you to spend money :( The good thing is that you will be able to make muffins or poached egg on toast until your heart is content :)
They also sell the handle separately but you can use a slotted spoon.
I hope you enjoy the muffins I hope you have some nice breakfasts.
They are egg poachers made from silicon. "Silicon pod egg poachers" they come as a pack of 2 and cost £4,75 / $6.51. You can usually purchase from kitchen supply shops or Amazon.
@OriginalNakedChef Thank you, I have never seen one like that. I like it, I will look for some like that.
I did get a smart a-- remark from a xiaocurrypuff, I asked about it and he sent me a messege saying salt. Dont this dude know how to read?I guess not.

But they aren't poached eggs. They are steamed eggs. To be poached they have to be in the water, not floating above it.
Anyway, poaching eggs is easy. You don't need any equipment and you certainly don' t need vinegar.

I believe what I cooked can be called poached eggs. See below:
Oxford Dictionary definition of poached: “cook (an egg) without its shell in or over boiling water”

OriginalNakedChef 3 months ago
@OriginalNakedChef
Well, the full Oxford English Dictionary (OED) disagrees. It clearly states:
Poached: "a.a Of an egg: Cooked in boiling water, without the shell."
Wikipedia is not a reliable source for anything.
There is clearly confusion. Anyway, it doesn' t matter. I'm sure it tasted just fine.
liuzhou 3 months ago
@liuzhou
Ref the vinegar: I will have to disagree with your opinion that "you certainly don't need vinegar".
I believe vinegar should be added to the water as it begins to boil, as this will help the egg white to coagulate more quickly and form a neat and compact shape.
Thanks for your comms.

The main thing is to butter the inside well and to have the water boiling gently.
When you used your, what went wrong?

It's been a long time since I tried the Poachers. I think that I didn't cover the pan, I'll have to dig them out and give it another whirl soon.

Try Sausage and (if you like) beans in it!
TheMangoesonrun 4 months ago
@TheMangoesonrun
Sausage is good too. That would make an egg and sausage muffin.
I like beans on toast with and egg on top :)
Thanks for dropping in and always good to hear from my subscribers!

Im talking about the things you PUT THE EGGS IN, Not what you put on the eggs.
kdave062 4 months ago
@kdave062 They're called poach pods I think. If you live in the UK, a kitchen shop called lakeland sells them.

What an interesting way to cook eggs! Never seen that before, I have to look around at local stores if I can get myself one of those. And great recipe, looked really delicious at the end :)

@846524162

Damn you making me spend money! lol.
tommyrazzleisback 4 months ago
@tommyrazzleisback
