Why didn't the impact of the planes immediately detonate the planted explosives?! Why did it take SO long for the towers to collapse?

The compounding weight and momentum of the top sections of the buildings would totally overwelm the lower floors and the whole thing collapses straight down. As a conservative I disagree. The term conservative comes from the notion of being "conservative with government power," that is, not using it much. Conservatives are all about change as long as it is organically occuring through the free actions of people and not being forced at gunpoint by the government. Liberals are "liberal with government power" and want to use the government's guns and jails to satisfy their every whim: including drug prohibition, school integration, etc.

Like I said in the following post, recent "conservatives" like the Bushes have been more liberal than conservative. They supported foreign wars and stimulus packages and things of that nature. Someone not wanting government to interfere with people's lives doesn't do that. A true conservative (in the tradition of Bastiat, the forefather of conservativism) would let people outside the mainstream do whatever they wanted because government has no business telling them what they can and can't do.

Actually, the "denial of rights" is a liberal behavior in the extreme. Conservatives believe rights are granted by nature (or god, whatever), not by government. It is not supposed to be within the government's power to deny any creature its rights. The politics of this country has shifted so far left that "conservativism" has just become "liberal of a different flavor"
