If advertising did not have a major impact on what people think, then they would not be worried about cigarette companies advertising at sporting events, or on television. In Australia they have gone as far to introduce plain packaging legislation for cigarettes. If that is so, how can thousands of ads depicting men as objects of abuse and ridicule not be wrong. I dont know a single guy who is happy in their marriage. I am in a serious relationship and am getting shit for not moving her in. I have been struck, lately by how advertising has taken a turn towrds the male. The general media culture is still very male demeaning, The Simpsons being just one example among many'. Not ONE positive male character. Plenty of good females tho. And the same is true in MOST of the other mainstream TV ,
However advertising is always way ahead. It started putting down the male, decades ago. Now its starting to turn,. Because they are in the business of predicting trends.

@luciferiexcelsil Take a look at the Simpson. A humorous TV show, that doesnt have ONE positive male character. The males are an actual impedement to the progress and the lives of the females in it. The mainstream media culture is what shapes how people think. Racial / cultural stereo types are all but taboo now, because of the harm they can do. Even if only humor. They have the affect of alinating and outraging the people on the recieving end.

I've seen Marc Rudov quite a few times on fox news and every single time the woman who is debating with him just talks over him, rolls her eyes when he is talking, is condescending or makes personnal attacks. I have not seen Mr. Rudov do this once. Not once. He is ALWAYS respectful and civilised. You don't even need to understand or listen to the debate to realize that he easily wins every single time.
