Im a flat green player and i would generally say flat is harder i play crown too in winter and find it much easier to get more wins at crown and thats saying something since i was the bolton flat green champion at 12 which is arguably the best club in Lancashire for skill level
On that basis, then it definitely was flat green that we were playing. It was four bowls per player, and an artificial surface. Thanks for the insight.

In Flat green the little white jack doesnt have a bias in it, only the bowls do
In Crown green bowls, the jack is bigger and has a bias
In flat green bowls there are usually 4 bowls per player
In crown green it's two
I think they're the main differences, not sure though as I dont play flat green.

The main differences between flat green bowls and crown green bowls are:
Crown green bowls is played on a 'green' which is natural grass (usually) and has a crown in it
Flat green bowls is played on an artificial surface
The bowls in Crown green bowls are smaller with a lighter weight
