I really tried to do this dumbshit dance when I was a fat, stupid little kid, hung up on the Archies. Fell and busted my ass big time. (BTW, windsorbear, I love your Archies post, but I use them for an EE-VIL purpose: I love to mash them up with music by Korn, AC-DC, Nirvana, STP, Ozzy and Alice in Chains---no kidding. I'm telling you, "Get on the Line" and "Highway to Hell"; just let the song start, turn down the Archies, and start them about a measure into the intro, when the drum kicks in.)
wow, I had this one from a cereal box too, don't anymore but I remember playing it and it sounded pretty good! I had forgotten all about it until I saw this!
@bladeey VERY GOOD LUV! Take very good care of it. In fact. Play it once to copy it to a tape or CD and then put it in a baggie and put it somewhere to keep it flat and safe!
The first Calendar/Kirshner 45,issued in 1968! It was originally in Mono, and contained,as its flip, the tune "Truck Driver"! It was a strong debut, along with the Self-titled debut that year..They would do better with their third 45.
Really, I'm so upset that all the Filmation shows, from The Archies to He-Man and She-Ra are sounding like Alvin and The Chipmunks! Who's to blame? Hallmark and L'oreal messed so much with the originals, they even revealed they where DESTROYED! There goes the rant! But glad that you made this video even better!
@broot4u I didn't have a copy of the original version with the correct speed and pitch, and couldn't find anyone that did, so I had to hunt to find a program that would let me decrease the speed and pitch on the version that was on the DVD. Finally found a program that let me adjust the speed and pitch, and then capture the modified segment. And here it is. Enjoy buddy... have got one or two more to go. Might also re-upload some of the existing ones with ones that have cleaner video.
@windsorbear Well, you did a wonderful job! It's nice to see someone taking the time to make sure we all can enjoy one of the best, but sometimes forgotten and often underappreciated, pop/rock bands from the late-1960's/early-1970's, the Archies with perhaps the cutest looking keyboardist, Veronica Lodge and tambourinist Betty Cooper.
@broot4u I'm still around, just don't get on YouTube much anymore. Actually been hanging out mostly on FB. There is an Archies group on there and we chat quite a bit.
@broot4u I would like to note here that this number, Jingle Jangle AND Sugar, Sugar were printed as records that you could cut off the boxes of Post Cerials at the time and played at 33 1/3. Post also had 3 from The Osmond Brothers and 3 from The Jackson 5 on boxes as well.
@LadyRoyce I didn't get to have those, but I remember cutting out a record from Andy Kim on the back of a Sugar Crisp box one. At least I think it was Andy Kim. Was ages ago.
@broot4u HUMMMMM! I thought Post stopped at the "Jackson 5." But I did hear stories that they did three from the "5th Dimension" as well. Is there any truth to those stories?
@LadyRoyce Honestly, it was so long ago, it's hard to tell. I'm up in Canada, so the Andy Kim promo was likely geared to us, seeing he is a fellow Canadian. Now, I could be wrong, my memory isn't the greatest, but I was almost sure I had an Andy Kim tune on cardboard. I do remember that the record didn't play too well on my junky little record player, had to weigh down the needle to keep it from skipping, and put rocks in the middle of the record to keep it from sliding and slipping...LOL.
@broot4u ROTF, LMFFTO! That was a big problem with thise records. I got my teacher to give me a huge hunk of that sticky, rubber stuff that was the predasesor to "Fun Tack" to hold the record on the turntable and also had to put a couple of pennys on the tone arm to make it play right as well.
@LadyRoyce I was mistake. It was a Bobby Sherman record. I just did some research and found the record.Sitting here listening to one of the tunes on YouTube...what the hell? LOL. Boy, has my taste changed.
ROTFLMFFTO! Well Luv, I am 55 this year & all of our tastes have changed since we were kids. But we still harken back to the music we loved when we were young. Bloody Hell! My Mum got a 6 record set of "Glenn Miller's" work from "Readers Digest" when I was about 11 or 12 & I LOVED THAT STUFF!
So to this day, I still love "Major, Glenn Miller's" music & I have several CDs of it & a load of it I downloaded from the net because I did not have some of the numbers he did on my CDs.
