  • Look at the little red balls. Look at how they curve around the centre everytime he does a feint. His weight transfer's so precise.

  • Kami!

  • what kind of steering wheel is that?

  • MR2 looks gorgeous sideways, that angle! It swings out so quickly yet keiichi keeps it under control

  • ill comment on where some of the weight comes from on an mr2 that is stock ,it comes from the exhaust system/cat/manifold/ /i fitted a full de cat stainless on so some weight saved alot of weight in fact as just a turbo elbow is so heavy ,then there comes the stock seats try lifting one of these seats outside of the car it is not light at all ,then the spare wheel can be removed saving more weight, this is what ive done i dont know how much my car will weigh now but has to be alot less than b4

  • @DjBodie removing the wheel in the front should be giving you more understeer. because you need to brake and throw the weight forward and then you can get the back tires up.

  • @Gin132456 yes but if the a/c is removed at the back the car must be balanced again and stock exhaust also removed to ye but i see what you mean m8

  • haha, drifted my mr2 by mistake the other day. going round a roundabout at about 70mph with a 2005 accord following me and the back end stepped out. i caught it and kept my foot in, smoked the tyres and slowly braught it round onto the down ramp. looked in my rear view mirror and the accord lost it and took out a lamp post... doofus!. 1993 MR2 uk spec N/A Tein coilovers 4-1 straight through, magnecor, hks, denso, mongoose etc etc

  • but why is this car so heavy then?

  • @DORUKOZKAN It weighs 2600lbs lol its not heavy

  • @ALake2244 lol thats so freaking light why do people comment that this car is heavy then loool

  • @DORUKOZKAN I dont know man lol im wondering the same thing.

  • Heel and toe prevents drifting by avoiding engine breaking causing loss of traction, its also to then controll the car. i have actually never drifted a front engined rear drive, i learnt in my MR2. loved it.

  • LOL Funny... everyone says the 2nd gen MR2 is heavy at 2700 and the RX7 is featherweight at 2800... hahahahaha

  • i love an MR2's looks but the distribution is so sketchy..and the car is so HEAVY with no way to lighten it. already has no back seats and minimal paneling. can't do much to lighten it. it's practically the same size as an AE-86 and weighs way more & it's only a 2 seater. i'd love to have an MR2 if i had two other cars

  • @montecarlomayne I always thought the car was a lightweight! :o

Where does all that weight come from?

  • @dariunas 2700 lbs. not an escalade but def not a 240

  • @dariunas The first and third gen are relatively light. The second gen, used in this video, is the heaviest of the three.

  • @montecarlomayne lol mr2s are really light cars they weigh freakin 2600lbs

  • @ALake2244 The turbo weighs almost 2800. But there's no way to re-distribute or lose some of the weight. With a 240 you can take out back seats and panels, re-locate the battery, etc. With the MR2 all the weight is in the back and I'd think it would make it awkward.

  • @montecarlomayne I own a 91 mr2 and they are awesome cars they handle like crazy because of the mid engine design. They feel extremely light when you take corners, in my opinion having the engine in the rear of the vehicle is better then having it in the front. and really these cars are very light compared to others. I have seen some mr2s that have been reduced to about 2400lbs, it can be done.

  • @montecarlomayne Well, 2800 is still pretty light IMO. The 240sx weighs around 2700 and people consider it light also. :)

  • @wajalama 2800 isn't all dat light. Now 2500 is light.

  • the G meter is too stable for a human!!!!

  • handbrakes are like handjobs, they dont even come close to the real thing

  • im learning to drift without a handbrake....since im to damn lazy to take my wheel off and adjust it at the hub lawl, but i think ill be better off for it

  • If you have large rear tires and LSD, just means you need to enter the corner faster to find the traction limit is all.

  • This is a short clip of a whole vid where Tsuchiya shows you how to drift different cars and he drifts s13's and s14's earlier than this segment.

  • I often hear from those use to FR cars that they don't like the power understeer from a MR2 I tell them they're driving it wrong to only receive looks of disbelief. At 2:27 tells what they should have done. It's all about balance with a balanced car.

FR drivers also can't get around the idea of not using the hand brake - in MR2 you don't need to and if you do it don't work or poorly if it does - too much grip!

  • I've got 9" wide rear wheels and a 98 LSD transmission in my SW20 so breaking the rears loose pretty much only happens if you're asking for it :P Whats the best way to try and drift this?

  • go check the video "drift lessons 1/2"

and actually you dont need a lsd to start drifting. all you need is a costumized suspension and brakes for drifting. just watch the vid.

  • he's braking heavy with the light bit of power over.

    quite simple actually

  • yea buddy its 'simple'...its totaly not the hardest driving technique

  • lmao

  • this is from the Drift Bibble i knoe it

  • what kind of drift technique is he usin? i didnt see him use the hand brake.

  • hes using the heel toe technique

  • heel toe isnt technically a drift technique, its a way of down shifting to speed match the 'box and engine revs! he is using weight shift and power over to get the slides. which is what i use with my V6'd MR2. takes some kahoona but you get used to it!

  • @splintermcinnes

Correct, Heel&Toe is a way to AVOID a shift-lock drift, spear your clutch and gearbox syncs, and to make sure the engine is responding (power mode instead of braking mode).

I Heel&Toe constantly, but I started doing that in corner entries under rain.

  • The hand brake isn't necessary at all unless you're swinging around a cone, you ricer.

  • what is it with this ricer bullshit everyone keeps slinging around?

    Can't have fun with a handbrake? :P

  • The whole video is of the technique he's using.

  • This guy isn't called Drift King for nothing... I know how loose a MR2 can get... I've got one and getting it sideways is definitely not something you want!! :-P

If ur after a drift car stick with a front engine rear wheel drive! ;)

  • @GreenTwig

I've been practicing for alittle while now n im starting to be able to swing my tail on my mk2

it's more like downshift to second, stab brake(forces weight forward), turn, release brake-> E brake at same time as brake release, once ur starting to slide rev, see ur exit drop ebrake dump clutch, slide real pretty like, make the girls cream their panties, ride away clean :) and there u have it lol

  • I need this guy to give me some lessons, i have a rev1 turbo and am frightened of it when cornering at speed, it is very twitchy.

  • he doesn't just have skill, he seriously is the Drift king. not joking either.

  • Drifting a mr2 on dry road isn't for the feint at heart! Man has skill.

  • Very Nice. Drifting a MR2 isn't easy as it is a midengine car. (I know, I got an MR2)

  • drift bible

  • Well, in Initial D (and I say that like everyone should know what that's about) in one of the early episodes before the identity of the "ghost of Akina" is revealed, they are watching on TV "Tsuchiya's Drift Bible." Well, this vid so happen to come from that parallel universe - i.e. "As Seen On Initial D"

You can also search "Drift Bible" as there is only one.

  • Dorifto! SW-20 MR2 do it side ways...
