i'd add ONE rule to the 4 you list... if you're not experienced at taking passengers, make sure the first one you take HAS been on the back of a bike before and knows how to behave. nothing more dangerous than TWO novices onboard at the same time!
i've been riding for a while, but i'd never taken a passenger before last summer... my adopted baby sister (all 6' & 215# of her) was raised in a biker family and knew how to act, so she got first honors once i was confident with the bike i bought recently.
once you get used to having the extra mass back there and know what to expect, taking another passenger (especially a smaller one!) is a LOT easier even if it's their first ride.

It won't be hard if the both of you follow some basic rules.
1. make sure both of you have gear on, and not just a helmet.
2. make sure and walk your girl around the bike, show her where to put her feet and tell her to hold on to you when you are riding.(get her comfy with the whole idea, the last thing you need is a scared G/F.
3. This is VERY important, make sure she leans WITH you in the turns, if she leans opposite you will go down.

please don't diss other bikes. if you are a true rider then you would have respect for all bikes. i am only 24 and have already gone through a 99 katana, 04 zx-636 ninja, and an 05 zx-10r ninja. and next year i plan on getting my first harley. it's just 2 totally different rides. and i love both of them. with sportbikes i could haul ass everywhere i wanted and if i was on a track do a little knee draggin. and on a harley i can just cruise without the need to hit over 180mph. repect.
