  • I used to fancy 'orrible Iris

  • i loved this programme-always did!

  • I remember Glenda and her cousin Iris in Crossroads. Didn't Iris frame Uncle Arthur(Brownlow) for raping her and making her pregnant? I remember there was a big campaign and people were printing T shirts with "Arthur Brownlow is Innocent " on them.

  • Oh, Arthur!

  • For how long did ITV2 have in-vision continuity? I never knew they had it!

  • The end credits: I remember when I was an infant peeking at the side of the TV to see where the credits went(!)

  • Strange...I remember the episodes being much longer ;-))

  • Its ironic that ITV1 is appealing for lost episodes of the orginal Crossroads after wiping so many and axing it in 1988.

In the late 80s fdifferent regions were showing it at different times,so they used the excuse of falling ratings.

  • classic, theme tune, the wnd titals accross the screen

  • Was this during Benny's infamous disappearance to look for a spanner that took months?

  • 1999.

  • What a clutch of classic Crossroads characters in this clip!Jill, Adam, Barbara Hunter, Miss Diane and Glenda Brownlow! Great stuff!

  • This was after the fire. Was this January 1982? So that would be 4 months before my birth. LOL

  • No, it was pre-1982 as this is an ATV production. ATV lost the Midlands ITV franchise on December 31, 1981.

  • Oops, my mistake. LOL

Thanks for letting me know. I must have not looked at the above title, unless the title to this video was re-named after I typed my post 8 months. :)

  • Mavis Hooper was the spitting image of Mrs Overall.

  • It is said that Julie Walters (herself coming from the West Midlands area) based the character of Mrs Overall on those classic Crossroads dames like Mavis and especially Amy Turtle.

  • That's interesting. Victoria Wood said in a BBC interview that she based Mrs O on Amy Turtle and Mrs Mac from the fab Scots soap Take The High Road.

But Mrs O so resembled Mavis that was the link many of us made when Acorn Antiques was first broadcast in the mid-'80s.

I still can't watch episodes of Crossroads featuring Mavis without laughing!

  • I never knew ITV2 actually repeated Xroads, when was this recorded??

  • Good heavens!
