If they could, that would be fantastic. The biggest problem I see is that they have constantly complained about not being able to rule their own people. No law and order. How can you pretend to have a state when you have no monopoly on judicial violence? If they would establish rule-of-law, EVERYTHING would be solved. What stops them?
And if the newly created Palestinian state does not accomodate the entitled demands of the activists that assisted them in protesting against Israel, then they will be protesting Palestine for human right violations as well. That is why I highly urge the Palestinian authority to make peace with Israel and establsh their own state as something they did on their own. Then they could show their neighbors and "sympathizers" they created their own state, and they could operate their state without any outside interference or demands. Unfortunately, help does not come with no straings attatched. Those non-Palestinian activists will want their payback by taking a large part in creating the constitution of Palestine.

If they could, that would be fantastic. The biggest problem I see is that they have constantly complained about not being able to rule their own people. No law and order. And if the newly created Palestinian state does not accomodate the entitled demands of the activists that assisted them in protesting against Israel, then they will be protesting Palestine for human right violations as well. I always wondered if any of those activists are aware that in Palestine, and the many countries of that region, do not agree with them religiously, socially or politically of who should be protected under the law. One protest leads to another, I guess.

Sovereignty is also extended to indigenous populations whom have not developed statehood. This is exactly the standard being used to determine Palestinian sovereignty by the UN. While there is no exact definition for indigenous people under international law, there are some guidelines used that can be found on the UN website.

What Mr. Finklestein doesn't say is that Israel recaptured E. Jerusalem in a subsequent war, and thus reunited Jerusalem for the first time in approximately 17 years. Also, The San Remo Agreement BY INTERNATIONAL LAW declared all of Jerusalem as belonging to Israel and all of Israel belongs to the Jews.

You haven't been specific. What lies? I know you are upset if your religion is attacked, but in the West, we distinguish between spiritual "faith" and calling people liars for not believing that faith, especially when the forensic evidence supports my statements that you refer to as lies.

Don't get me wrong. I am not condemning all Muslims. I am simply warning people that Islam is dangerous & must not extend benefit of the doubt as though lying was forbidden.

@Umayr When you find people lying & refusing to consider rational justice, this isn't due to defective people but a defective education. Islamic history teaching tragic lies about pre-Mohamed history. He had to develop "theories" in fact, if you look at the false history, it then becomes an absolute joke to try to show "science in the koran" because even if it were there, what would it mean since we know the history is dead wrong, it does us no good because you cant' trust it without more proof.

What is unfair to the Palestinians is the fault of the West for not being forcefully behind justice, allowing Arab Muslim states to manipulate the Palestinians, allow the teaching of fabricated history, it doesn't do the Palestinians any good to have them lied to, & it is a cult, almost as if these lies are true. The effects are the same. The difference is that in the real world, the Arab Muslims fucked their own people & the West should help them on conditions of Western justice.
