I like Natalie but she's much better off talking about nutrition. Anger has a source and it's intelligent to decode and release the energy of the source. Beating up a bag or punching a wall only promotes more anger next time. So many things in this world are upside down and consequently it's hard for many to understand just HOW potent is meditation and knowing thyself through quieting your mind in eradicating anger, sadness, darkness and misery. I meditate and it promotes good stuff in my life.
I'd never thought about the etymology of the word "emotion" it comes from the Latin prefix 'e-' and the Latin word 'movere', combined to form 'emovere', which literally means "outward movement".
@minnaisland What is your mental image of somebody who is ALIVE ? She wants to make a point, if you think about someone being in motion, being active well, that 's what life is, it's action.. not a person stuffing potato chips slumped on couch. Death is no motion. Life is motion. animals in stress play dead or run. she goes on alot. it comes down to GET ACTIVE to release stress, tension. redirect negative urges into positive output
Alive to me is seeing everyone i care and love. Feeling great when i see them!!. When they are happy,I'm happy. But as soon as someone feels down, you're down. But at that moment, even for a second you feel happy...you're alive!!
.... you explained me there!! i have had trouble with stress past few years, ive argued and physicsally exploded and broke things, turnd to alcohol or drugs,,,, all because of stress...... i have learned throught personal expierience that if i just sit and try to think my stress out,, then it just gets worse!!!! i have to move or i explode, kinda like the hulk sometimes, raging aggressive explosions, especially if i drank alcohol, im more mellow these days and use a punchbag if i feel tht way
Having stress is just an illusion, i've also been there. What pulled me out of the misery was just 'opening my eyes'. I learned the things that they don't show on TV. I now started changingproject(.)com which is a free video information archive. People should ask themself where the depression comes from, it's all about our mind and science already revealed that everything is connected to eachother and that we create reality by thinking, thoughts with powerful emotions become reality.Do research
Umm when I visualize a person who is experiencing being alive, I feel they have a connection with the Earth. I can see a person swimming across a calm lake during a summer sunset, or sleeping under the stars. Never lose your spirit

The problem is if you're under constant stress, you cant just work or do a sports activity & expect relief...
why... because if once that work or sport is over & u return to this environments of stress, you actually do further damage...
those who are under this extreme stress (& who can not escape it), some moderate physical activity will be helpful, but you can not participate in strenuous activity on top of stress & then be faced with stress afterwards.
Being free and overcoming chalanges is what being alive means to me. "Chalanges are what makes life interesting... overcoming them is what makes life meaningfull", my teacher has always told to me. i still follow it to this day, along with the next quote "not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed untill it is faced"!!!
I don't think Buddhists have punching bags that they release their anger out on, because when they get stressed, they don't feel the need to release it out on something. In fact, that habit of releasing your anger on a punch bag can go far further. What happens when there isn't a punch bag at hand? That's when people become more violent. Not good advice.
I was actually upset before watching this video and it made me feel better. This vid. really does make a lot of sense. I remember a time during class when I got really angry at something and the next class I had was gym. When I ran on the treadmill for a bit I literally forgot why I was mad in the first place. The best part of that whole experience is that the anger didn't return. It just completely vanished through the exercise!
Hello Natalie, I just love your videos. I ve been directing myself to a healthy lifestyle on all levels and these videos have provided me with the necessary information about nutrition. Thank you so very much!!
my definition of alive was me i guess hiking or walking high on a mountain on a sunny summer day with fresh trees all around and im looking at the sunset but its still really sunny and at a cottage at the bottom on the hill Im on and I imagined a girl Im inlove with living there and just feeling contentment as i reached the top of that hill and took in that view. content AND ALIVE what are your peoples thoughts about being alive

Happiness is the only goal on earth that all people without exception are seeking to attain. Believers and unbelievers alike seek to be happy, but each party is using different methods.
However, only believers can achieve genuine happiness. All forms of happiness attained without a firm belief in God, the Almighty, are mere illusions.

that right. started 2 ride a bike to work everyday even in -15 C all year round. I tell everyone to ride if you want to feel great. I rode 3000 miles last year and it helped me when i was told i have cancer. they dont lie when the say to exercise and eat right. I was in such good condition that by my 4 month of chemo when i started 6 weeks 5 days a week radiation and chemo together I rode my bike to the dortors 25km one week and 50km the other. only 3 days of riding. *claps* hehe :D wow that was a great video. very much for the people who picture things in their mind. i'll make sure to watch more of your videos. did i say thanks? i don't think i did :S but thank you very much :D you're da bomb 0.-
Natalie, awesome job, this is one of the best videos Iv seen on Anxiety and stress management. The key to recovery from Anxiety is keeping the mind and body busy and you express this in so many ways in your video.
You really hit it right on when you said without motion becomes emotion or stress. If I don't work out I become angry, frustrated,I fight with my wife become distance, but after a really good workout I can see clearer. You just helped me realize that.Thankyou you are right in everything you said and I plan on listing to more of things you have to say.
My first instinct was someone in motion. But then I thought about it and, IMO an alive person is someone who is in sync with who they are. They have no inhibitions, and just go for what they want in life. They have a passion for life, and enjoy it moment to moment.
Thanks for sharing all this great information. It's certainly given me a new perspective on things. :)
i taught of rocky 3 were rocky and appolo are racing on the beach and rocky finaley beats em and there jumping around dancing in the sea water. ahhhh clasic.
I imagine being in the woods with the sun shining down on my face...or being at a rock concert when it starts pouring rain. Or driving down a mountain road or through the desert in a convertable. The most intimate and peacefull to the most crazey and sponteaneous moments are when I feal most alive:)
Life - I think first of all of knowing you are alive - sentient life. Active knowledge seeking to better life in general. Pushing oneself every so often to the limit in physical and mental activity.
I think of someone running through a field of daisies, doing cartwheels, enjoying nature and being thankful that they're alive. No worries, or cares in the world. Laughing, smiling and looking at the sun and world as it is. Not looking for anything to make them happy, but breathing fresh air. Maybe laying on a blanket with the person they truly love and just enjoying that moment of utter bliss.
video was fine, but i really cant say i was happy when the pictures of the dead animals came up. i find that highly unnecessary and a little disturbing
a lot of people dont let you move around them because their minds have been conditioned by conventions that indicate that certain harmless or organic movements are bad or inappropriate when really that is rarely the case
The joy of movement...I improvise with light weights and yoga...I live In phoenix and I love hikeing camelback mountain because of all the boulders...A lot of jumping and moving with gravity..and dynamic organic movement...I see a lot of people walking around the mountain preserves with hikeing sticks or as though they are still in the office they have no balance and are afraid to move anywhere outside their normal habitual pattern of movements
Being 'Alive' to me means experiencing 'life', in all its facets through the use of a body. It means being able to feel love, but also pain. To be able to smell all the wonderful odors of nature. To be able to see all the beauty the world has to offer. To be able to touch the soft skin of a girl. To be able to breathe, to interact with other people, to think, to sing, to dance... Want me to go on?
I think a person appears to be most alive or healthy when they are able to be responsive to most all of the possible situations that they may come up against without over reacting or over responding.
Thanks Nat. I'm 50 and have never been very active other than work. You've certainly inspired a new train of thought in me. I can't believe I reached this age without figuring this out for myself, or being taught this. I must have been sublimating a lot, because I'm a low stress guy. Your bit on sugar was an eye opener too. Thanks. You're the pretty one.
I completely agree with what you said in this video. I've tried to say this to many people in the past, and have tried to follow it a lot of my life. The creation of this video and all the others is very appreciated! Thank you! :-)
I wanted to lose a little winter fat which was due to eating more sweets and exercising less. So I started on the diet side and was making minor changes in my exercise diligence, but I decided to take some pills to increase my metabolism. They have made me jittery and reactionary to stress before, but my urge to jump start things was stronger than my reason. So after a week I blew up at work over something minor. I have stopped taking the pills and will heed your advise.
hi!! if you don't have a serious problem with your joints try ashtanga vinyasa yoga together with clean eating. You'll lose a lot of weight and it will be permeanent.
Being active was some of the first and best advice I received after my children died. Before I had to stay fit for my job so it was a FORM of stress for me. I never understood using activity to releive stress but after I lost them it became an invaluable tool to make me smile and live again. It really really works better than ANYTHING else. You get addicted to it after awhile. Thank you Natalie, such wonderful advice :)
I was actually thinking today about how a long time ago the human race had to fight and kill its food if it wanted to survive.
I pictured myself being one of those people and I contrasted it against my indoor, low payed, low skilled, consumer servant job, and I thought about how much happier I would be with the former.
I don't want to pay somebody so I can live. I want to live for myslef.
In my mind, I am visualizing you naked, on my boat, in a tropical pardise, rubing suntan oil over each other drinking champagne.

Natalie, awesome job, this is one of the best videos Iv seen on Anxiety and stress management. The key to recovery from Anxiety is keeping the mind and body busy and you express this in so many ways in your video.
5 Stars
Thank you.

Someone alive...this Lady, Natalie, especially with the shirt/dress she wears, the setting, the music, and the message.
rmsolympic1 3 years ago
My first instinct was someone in motion. But then I thought about it and, IMO an alive person is someone who is in sync with who they are. They have no inhibitions, and just go for what they want in life. They have a passion for life, and enjoy it moment to moment.
Thanks for sharing all this great information. It's certainly given me a new perspective on things. :)

I imagine being in the woods with the sun shining down on my face...or being at a rock concert when it starts pouring rain. Or driving down a mountain road or through the desert in a convertable. The most intimate and peacefull to the most crazey and sponteaneous moments are when I feal most alive:)
angelaCnielsen 3 years ago
Life - I think first of all of knowing you are alive - sentient life. Active knowledge seeking to better life in general. Pushing oneself every so often to the limit in physical and mental activity.
rosshack1488 3 years ago
I think of someone running through a field of daisies, doing cartwheels, enjoying nature and being thankful that they're alive. No worries, or cares in the world. Laughing, smiling and looking at the sun and world as it is. Not looking for anything to make them happy, but breathing fresh air. Maybe laying on a blanket with the person they truly love and just enjoying that moment of utter bliss.

video was fine, but i really cant say i was happy when the pictures of the dead animals came up. i find that highly unnecessary and a little disturbing
alipo0h11 3 years ago
a lot of people dont let you move around them because their minds have been conditioned by conventions that indicate that certain harmless or organic movements are bad or inappropriate when really that is rarely the case
catgumart 3 years ago
The joy of movement...I improvise with light weights and yoga...I live In phoenix and I love hikeing camelback mountain because of all the boulders...A lot of jumping and moving with gravity..and dynamic organic movement...I see a lot of people walking around the mountain preserves with hikeing sticks or as though they are still in the office they have no balance and are afraid to move anywhere outside their normal habitual pattern of movements

swimming, running, playing and working are my signs of being alive
mulonzee877 3 years ago 2
Being 'Alive' to me means experiencing 'life', in all its facets through the use of a body. It means being able to feel love, but also pain. To be able to smell all the wonderful odors of nature. To be able to see all the beauty the world has to offer. To be able to touch the soft skin of a girl. To be able to breathe, to interact with other people, to think, to sing, to dance... Want me to go on?
Zodak79 3 years ago
I think a person appears to be most alive or healthy when they are able to be responsive to most all of the possible situations that they may come up against without over reacting or over responding.

Thanks Nat. I'm 50 and have never been very active other than work. You've certainly inspired a new train of thought in me. I can't believe I reached this age without figuring this out for myself, or being taught this. I must have been sublimating a lot, because I'm a low stress guy. Your bit on sugar was an eye opener too. Thanks. You're the pretty one.

Is sublimation the same thing as Freud's Object-cathexis?
MRJerrod410 3 years ago
I was actually thinking today about how a long time ago the human race had to fight and kill its food if it wanted to survive.
I pictured myself being one of those people and I contrasted it against my indoor, low payed, low skilled, consumer servant job, and I thought about how much happier I would be with the former.
I don't want to pay somebody so I can live. I want to live for myslef.
