The military government is willing to take aid from any country but wants to control how that aid is distributed. The problem is that the military government doesn't appear capable of disaster management. And, latest word is that the military is distributing stale food to the people and keeping the emergency supplies. Another allegation is that the military is charging money to people who want food rations. If true, what a despicable military government in Myanmar!

The European Union released two million Euros (about three million US $) in initial emergency aid. Norway offered 1.3 million Euros. Germany said it was sending 500,000 Euros. France announced it had made 200,000 Euros available. Netherlands announced it had released an initial 200,000 Euros. So, European countries have sent and offered aid, kenwatch77. Show me proof!! 1st of all it was UN aid that made it in 1st. And when the talk of aid was being discussed, various Asian countries and the US were the 1st to send aid. And I said as it stands. Meaning currently. I watched various news broadcast on this. Even BBC news reported, at that time who was providing aid. You still didnt answer my question about what would the US gain providing aid? Hell they were quicker in providing aid to Myanmar, than they did for Hurricane Katrina.

We SHOULD help these people through charity & goodwill. Our generosity is unrivaled in the world I'm sure. I also happen to think its wrong for the government to obligate us to go to work everyday to pay for foreign aid. The money to help these people comes from the burden of taxation. Filling out a tax form & having your $ taken awaywith the threat of imprisonment is unconstitutional. Goodwill should be voluntary, not forced but a government doing good.
