@CalculusLikeABoss I guess there is a 3rd, and the two 5th (B/F# and E/B) between basses and tenors are wrong. The tenor should play F# => G# and not F#=>B. Sorry for my bad english!
Music is truth, singing "in tune" helps you to be "in tune".
If you can't pick a part out of this and sing it by reading the score; you are musically illiterate. Here is your chance, practice until you get it. "Get" the text too. Chose words carefully, that reflect who you are.
This song speaks of love and identity. Of many, "we are one", quite literally. Always put Good first (as you see it and as time has proven) and love even those you can't see, as to do so is to love yourself.
If someone gives a speech is that "literature"? No. Are they smart? Could be. Are they great? Could be.
What sets western music apart is the fact that it is written down. Now if you cannot read the written language, you are by definition "musically illiterate". You could be a phenomenal musician; fine. I love to improvise and love music that is passed on through oral tradition. However, music literacy is something very specific and needs to be appreciated for what it is..
@hymnistic You missed the point. You don't have to be able to translate notes on a page into a vocal melody to be musically literate. If that were the case, the mute couldn't be musically literate. To be, by definition, musically literate, one must only be able to UNDERSTAND what the notes mean and how they make melody and chord structure. You don't even need the actual ability to translate the notes into music, via an instrument or the voice.
"What sets western music apart is the fact that it is written down. "
That's obsurd!
There are other counties who used the different form but have the written down musical cord. It's just that western or should I say collectly " the Italian version " of notes became more popular & world standard. It doesn't mean other countries didn't have the means to "write the music down ".
Does anyone else hear a 3rd in the last chord or is that just overtones from the open 5th?
