Wavey Davey Gets Some New Kit!

Will watch it over again and make a list of what he bought and maybe I will put one together. I do like the colourplash jr. Will pick them up down the road also. I do have the LS80 system to start with and for karaoke its all I need right now.

Brian - I know this is an older video - but why the BBE 362 vs the 482i or 882i? Also The x500 vs x900?

I've been thinking about buying a used x400 or x800 mixer - but not sure if the effects and digital inputs are worth it..

What do you think?

First, about the BBE. The 362 is all you really need if you are only running a single amp. It's easy to use and reasonably priced for Wavey's application (I use a MaxX2 with the crossover on my rig)

I was very excited about the MaxX2 until I learned that the outputs were unbalanced. Lack of balanced signal to an amp that supports it looses you up to 3db gain. So I'm currently using a RANE Mojo MX22 Crossover & a BBE 862.

As for uses of the 362 - Little hint - run it in the effects loop on the Dennon (My Numark CM200 doesn't have one) and you'll totally avoid the limitation of balanced connections.

Now, onto the Denon mixers. The X900 has digital inputs/outputs & 3 phono inputs. If you don't need the Digital interface (who does unless you are doing digital recording?) or 3 phono inputs, then the X500 is the unit for you. The biggest advantage the X900 & X500 have over the 400 & 800 would be IMO PFL meters

So.. my favorite 19" DJ mixer is the Denon DN-X500. There are no effects on this mixer BTW. It does have on board controls for external effects (wet/dry knob, etc). It also has Fader/cross fader start which is quite fun. Again, the PFL meters and overall build quality were what turned me on the most. Also, if I were to have bought an X900, I would be short 1 AUX input because of the 3rd phono.

Love the ADJ CD player... But why the Unbalanced BBE? Are you going to run it off the mixer's effects loop or in the amp signal stream? If it's wired between the amp and mixer, the 882i or the X2 might be a better deal... And GC will likely let you return it and buy an x2 on lack Friday.
