    You can start by adding 2 pinches. Stir it and give it a taste. Add more if you like! =]

  • @ferrarifxx458 You can use unsalted, and then season to your taste. You don't have to add the cheese.

  • I thought if you used a wire whisk for mashed potatoes that they'd turn out too gummy or glutenous. What am I missing?

    I have never heard that.

    It could be that people are mixing the potatoes too long under their whisk that causes the problems.

  • @ChefTips Yeah, that's what I thought (whipping potatoes too long), too. I love garlic mashed potatoes - use a very similar recipe as yours. My only problem with heating cream is that I have an electric stove that's about ten yrs old. I hate it, b/c no matter how low I adjust the heat, it either doesn't bring anything up to temp, or it boils over. Guess it's time for a new stove. What do you think?

  • I have a general question about mashed potatoes; mashed potatoes are not exactly a staple in our culture (Turkey). Is it better (tastier) to heat the milk and butter, or stir in the butter and milk cold? I might have to try both methods to see which one tastes better, but if you already know the answer, then please share. Thank you for the videos and recipes :)

  • Cook the potatoes with the salt but not so long that they become soggy....take them out a little earlier than you think.

  • Should really boil the potatoes with the skin on. It takes longer, but it prevents them from absorbing any water and becoming soggy. Plus, peeling is easier.
