Lol. I'll be doing a tune up for this thing tommorrow. And the yellow Mcculloch, well its fine I'll just be adding some Briggs and Stratton fuel stabilizer too it. But the Mcculloch needs a new spark plug and some of the fuel stabilizer. I'll be doing the vid soon.
These were four strokes, and didn't have glo-plugs,so could be a little time consuming to start,at first l'd run only on one, then two, then three and four lines sometimes if really cold!
Didn't you prime them? Usually small Diesels have a little nut on the engine head which can be taken out and a little bit of engine oil can be poured into the cylinder to give it a little bit more compression to start it.
Yes indeed. The system was set up to do this, and they always went in the end.Starting was done by motoring the main generator with a special winding rather than the more usual, for non, railway uses, compressed air.
i remember my oilfeild engine that ran a waterpum on my grampas farm, 36 inch stroke and 17 inch bore! it sounded like pots and pans where banging around right out in the yard.
Cool !! 5/5

l remember starting up our old diesels on the railway,10" bore 12" stroke. The clag was pretty awesome on a cold day!

I suppose it would be. Old Diesels smoke quite a bit when theyre cold. But these two strokes clear their lungs quite a bit too.
