Layers are when you get different parts of your hair cut to different lengths. For example, your hair can have shorter layers on the top, middle length ones in the middle, and longer ones at the bottom. They make your hair look a lot bigger and like it has more volume :) I'd say that you would DEFINATELY need layers for something like this. Google 'layered hair guys' or something, take some pictures to a hairdresser, and get some cut in. I hope I helped :3

it has to be layered to get this cut and style. if you have too much hair, you wont be able to get the frazzled look and the hair will be too heavy for the rubber to hold it up and in one hour it will look you put a helmet on your head and your hair will be all flat. Its pretty frustrating to get the hair to stand correctly so you can use hairspray to give it more hold. I normally use green and black hex gatsby for desired effect and longevity.

I bought this stuff today at Mitsuwa Marketplace and tried it out for the first time. It works pretty well! It isn't revolutionary by any means, but it works great as a texturizer/wax and works well for spiking little pieces. I'm a Caucasian with thin, fine hair and it works fine for me. I just recommend spritzing a little firm or extra-firm hold hairspray on your hair after styling to keep the shape.

The pink one is for Spiky Edge. Purple is Wild Shake. Green is Air Rise. Orange is for Loose Shuffle. Yellow is for Nuance Motion. Those ones are for Holding Power... while the Texture Conscious ones are the gray one which is Grunge Mat and the sky blue one for the "cool-wet" look. o-o Hope that helped. :D

I am Chinese. All the money Gatsby used going into marketing campaigns it's bound not to be as good. When youre in doubt it's always nice to ask your stylist or best go to an Asian salon and seek advices there. Two of my friends who are hair stylists did mention Caucasian and Asian hair textures are quite different.
