Of course not. They get a secretary to do it. Even when there was little desire for autographs before WW2 WInston Churchill has a secretary do it.

The advantage with an event like this - you know you have a genuine autograph.

And also: autographs are a decent investment too. Most celebrities will only sign a film premieres like this - you simply wont see them. Sandra hasnt come to England for a long time too.

These autographs are so stupid. As an investment there are so many they won't be worth anything and for personal collection they just have her name signed (quickly). If you mail away for it she'll personalize it for you.  What a waste of everyone's time.

Its a lot nicer to know they spent enough time with it to know your name, these things they don't even look up at your face so its no difference than picking it up off a table. Also, the signature is all sloppy. I prefer a nice personally addressed hand written note which often comes when you mail it in. Sure, go see her when she's in town to get that fix, but its not like you had dinner with her and she spent time signing a photo. I mean its just not.

You're right. It would be A LOT nicer to have dinner or even just get a letter from Sandra Bullock. But, I still would LOVE to have her autograph even if she didn't really look me in the eyes.

If you write to her agent and ask for something specific, she comes in periodically to take care of those requests (or they're sent to her) -- this is true with most celebrities. Her thoughts may be quickly forgotten but at least during the time she addresses the photo with your name and hers and a "good luck in college," etc...its a little more personal. I collect autographs, but not to sell, these in this video are mostly people selling them on line. I have a few of these on magazine covers.

I do think its great she's making an effort but when I'm at these events and I see this is happening I don't get in the fray. When I was a little kid actresses (or actors) and models would come over to kids and give them a little extra time, but I'm a little older now.
