@badboymg23 YES! Amazing how many people agree with myself you yourself, this was incredible production and resulted in the most amazing numbers in terms of fans and increase of nba exposure during those years then ever imagined. Who's who have though John Tesh would create some magical music to really captivate the mind into experiencing an NBA production no matter who were actually playing. The fact the bulls dominated the league at the time simply made the identity of the league today.
Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, Shaq, Karl Malone, Penny Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Kemp, Hakeem... Man, the NBA in the 90's was unreal.
man...Im not too much into nostalgia. I try to live in the moment and let the past be the past....but cotdamn I miss the NBA being on NBC. That music and intro is as hardwired into the NBA as the damn ball n hoop!

Lil Penny NBA NBC Intro 1996 Playoffs vkpwxtth pwsccdwxilyf #FreshWesss
Seeing the intro brought back memories of when NBA coverage not on TNT was great. I wish I could forget this particular game, though. Man, did the Magic get killed!
the Sunday triple headers on NBC were unbeatable- now we have ESPN and it's parent co. ABC/Disney which just ruin the whole sport. Either it's one on 5 or a three chucking fest and ticky tack fouls all day.
This was back when people cared about the NBA and there was actual talent. NBA on NBC was the bomb lol!! ABC sucks big time and the NBA has sucked from about 2003 onward. Once Kobe retires, the NBA will totally suck and arrive in hell.
@Muse4life05 Dude i agree about ABC but the NBA has more talent right now than it did even in the 90s except at center. Great PGs like Rose/Parker/Rondo/Paul/Deron/Nash and great SGs like D-Wade, VC, Roy, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Ginobili, kobe, then u got guys like Lebron, Carmelo, Pierce and Durant, and Bosh/Dirk/Duncan/KG/Gasol/Dwight/Yao that's a hell of a lot of talent and the role players are really good too. besides the bulls, the 08 celtics or 09 lakers would murk any 90s team.
@GranteedEV There may be more top tear players like kobe wade lebron but only 5 teams are as good then most of the 90's teams because there was more of a team concept- today it's all about one guy dominating the ball and driving and either dunking it or kicking it out for a corner three- it's a much more boring game today and I think the team game and passing was far better in the 90's.
@admrlcheese So it's like the sport has transformed into a private, corporate, capitalist entity where the CEO's, in this case the star players, are the primary winners.
I miss penny!!! So sad he got hurt he would have been even greater than what he was. Still have his autograph picture of him backing down Jordan on my wall.

The NBA will never be the same as it was like this, only if at least they cut out ABC and bring back NBA on NBC, that would probably change some. But it wont be the same.
@MrSlik25 You're right! That was so neat how he and the Pacers slipped into the Knicks rivalry as soon as Jordan left. I miss those crappy Pacers uniforms just for those memories.
@stansayer NBA on NBC was a ratings winner throughout the 1990's, Besides Michael Jordan starring in many episodes, and Marv Albert's play by play. Why do you think everybody remembers this program very wel

with players like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Isiah Thomas, a younger Akeem Olajuwon, Kevin McHale, James Worthy, and of course, an ascending Michael Jordan, the NBA was never better than in the 1980's. Without the 80's, there is no NBA. And it was so good that the G.O.A.T. couldn't even get a SNIFF of a championship. Meanwhile the best team of the last 30 years IMHO, the Showtime Lakers fought off the Celtics, Sixers and Pistons to win 5 titles.
I listen to that song before every one of my high school games..... God I miss the NBA. I refuse to call today's game the NBA. More like NBE. Kinda like how the WWF was the jam, now it's WWE. Sucks now as do most things compared to then.
That's perfectly put it really is National Basketball Entertainment now. NBA on NBC and WWF Attitude are two awesome examples of products that have greatly dropped in quality and standards from what it once was

Damn, something about Penny makes me nostalgic of the 90's.. he literally romanticized basketball for the entire world. It wasn't just winner vs. loser, it was truly an epic battle. I remember following penny even off the ball. I remember hoping he makes every single shot. I remember keeping stats for Penny, even though NBC did that anyways. I miss Penny, the NBA needs someone like him now.
Penny is still in the NBA he plays for miami now. it's just that he fell off(garbage) along with grant hill, shawn kemp, gary peyton. all those are garbage now... But they were quite nice at their prime.
I miss nba on nbc so much! you guys are right the way they used the graphics was done very well! If you ever watch sundaynight football on nbc the are on the money with graphics, picture quality and overall production. Ive stopped watching MNF because of the awful announcers and overuse of the bootom scroll!!Bring back nba on nbc please

He isn't in the NBA at the moment, unfortunately.
He was at Miami last year.
:-(
I miss you, Penny!!!
