What is really amazing about this song it is really years ahead of its time. You could put it on a compilation of songs from late 70's AOR bands like REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Journey, Styx, Toto and so on and it would fit right in and not sound out of place or dated.
i like this one by them!i was born when this song was in the top 40 in 1969.i've got this on promo 45 with she smiles on the b-side(also a promo with i got a line on you on both sides).one of early rock classics.thanks for posting this one.
I first heard this song twenty years after it first came out (in 1989) on the syndicated Live From the Sixties radio program with The Real Don Steele. I love this song.
Jay Ferguson was the lead singer of this Los Angeles rock group. And some may recall some of Ferguson's solo successes of the late '70s, such as "Shakedown Cruise" and "Thunder Island." Ferguson and Mark Andes, two members of Spirit, left the group in 1971 to form Jo Jo Gunne. Spirit also had mild success with a gothic-type recording, "Mechanical World" in 1967.
@vandywilliam randy california had an oscillator built into his guitar for unlimted sustain 1:10 [ an early guitar synthesiser] he drowned in hawaii his body was never found
