This was one of the scenes I liked a lot from the 1st movie. Definitely a good plot device to show that Murphy is not quite a machine. Also, from here on out, he starts to piece together what has happened to him before he became the RoboCop.

I know that they had the 50 cal barret in the film as some kind of 25mm cannon so it wouldn't surprise me if they changed a few things on a mac11 to create a more futuristic feel with it

Stop the video exactly at 2:34... when the gas station explotes, it doesn't explotes in a certain point (the gas tank), it has multiples explotions, inside the cabine, the pump, the tank and (curious) the "S" of "Shell"... The "S" explotes (as Paul Vehoeven's book says), it just to give to expectators that the "enviroment" you are seeing is the "Hell" (and the gas station burns with "Hell" without burning) excuse my english
