Bad ass moves man I'm proud to see americans embrace Arnis as a Martial Art. How effective would you consider the art compared to other street self defense systems? I'm asking because I'm planning on learning Eskrima in the Philippines, just want to make sure its the right choice to focus on instread of BJJ or Judo. Thanks
@Wangtime1 Arnis is very practical and effective as a street self-derense system. One reason for this is because of it's versatility (weapons, empty hand, locking, throwing etc) and the attitude and mentality of it's practicioners, especially in the Philippines. Arnis unlike many other martial art systems was traditionally practiced mainly as a no holds barred combat art. In the philippines you can still find authentic traditional Arnis teachers. Good luck in your studies!
@Wangtime1 its effective enough that the us navy and russian spetznaz use it as the basic self defense program. also its much more effective in urban areas.
