LOVE IT! Sounds like its running excellent! Great video. Inspiring sound to get mine running. These sound so awesome with the straight scrambler pipes. Tell your brother his bike looks phenomenal!
One of the baby boomers likes it. I searched youtube specifically for this bike to spark a few memories. A neighbor of ours always had a garage full of bikes. A dozen or more would be typical. He used to mix and match Hondas, Kawasaki, Yamahas, Bultacos, Ossa, Montesa, Suzuki, etc. etc and build these wild conglomerations (Hontaco) (Yamasaki). Out of everything he had, the 305 was always my favorite. Nothing like that sound. Always kind of considered it the consumate motorcycle exhaust note.
Nothing sounds like a CL77 with open pipes at ideal . You don't have to gas it, just let it just set there sounding great ! The seat was hard as a rock but but boy I miss it something offel. I got a restored CL450 now but I miss my old 66 rattel trap.
@flylooper My fires real motorcycle was a 305 scrambler. 1966. It was wonderful and started me down a trail of bikes that includes Greeves, BSA, Triumphs, AJS, and a garage full of Japanese two-wheelers. This video catches the bike nicely, doesn't it?
Great little video on a classic. I bought a brand new one from Wilmington Honda, CA. in 1965. It cost me $750.00 out the door. I loved that bike. I can still feel my butt itch, but loving it. Thanks for putting it on .
I can imagine how exciting it must have been to ride your new 65 Scrambler home. My brother had a 250 Honda Dream in Okinawa and I had a Honda 250 Superhawk while stationed there. Touring the island with those bikes was really a kick.
Those early scramblers had a sound all their own; a sharp GROWLING exhaust note.Plus if a guy could'nt buy one they were still fine tough machines to look at. Saw my first CL72 when I was just eleven and was instantly impress by their look and sound. Thats exactly what Honda wanted to do to the consumers. Resulting one of Honda's all time biggest sellers. Long live the CL72s and CL77s!
I had a similar experience. The first time I saw a Scrambler was when a friends brother came riding up on a new red CL72. It was the best looking motorcycle Ive ever seen. My dad had British bikes, but it was the Honda that really captured my interest.
best sounding internal combustion engine ever!

Thanks! And good luck getting your bike running. It's great to see (and hear) these classic Hondas running down the road.

Agreed. There's nothing like the exhaust note that only those long unmuffled pipes can make!

Good question. My brother says without the sandals you may have noticed the rip in his vest.
mrken503 2 years ago
Ok but why is he riding with sandals on?

id get some boots on and a good riding jacket,

thats a little too casual for me on a bike,

My first bike was a 305. Fun but slow. I thought I was hot shit until I raced a Valiant. And lost!

Racing a Corvette would have given you more status.
