Thumbs up for impatient people like me who don't usually read the whole description :)

  • Paul should be a politician or teach politics.....

  • Evangelical protestants + Neocon Zionists = Instigators of the War in Iraq

Evangelical protestants + Neocon Zionists = Disaster in Iraq

  • RAISE TAXES , RAISE TAXES, RAISE TAXES !!! + $1 on a gallon of gas, +.25c on potato ships, +$100 on plane flights , the minimal tax of 8% should be risin to 15% on all purchased items.

  • @UFCextra What are you, 12? What does your post have to do with the content of the speech?

The point of Paul's speech is that the justification for the Bush tax cuts were constantly shifting, as was the justification of the invasion of Iraq. These are facts that can be easily vetted.

And if the justifications are false, what are the *real* reasons? Any rational person should be asking this question.

  • AMEN! Starve the beast!

  • Paul Paul Paul

    1. So what if the marketing changes, the goal is the same and there are many reasons to desire a given policy. The marketing should be the afterthought.

    2. Of course "most of the tax cut" will go to the people making a ton of money and paying tons of taxes if you look at the gross number, instead of the tax RATE change, which is more informative.

    3. otherwise, great speech

  • It is so funny how he always talks in a nervous voice. After years of being on TV and radio 7 days a week you would think Paul would smooth his voice over. I like his rational approach, which is rare these days.

  • at 3:07 he mentions that he was surprised that American policy took a turn for the worse. A professor at one of the most prestigous schools in America has no idea that the 2nd great depression was almost on us. And these are the people teaching the leaders of the nation.

  • I think we really need to consider legalizing online casino and poker like the UK did, and did it well. I promise it will not corrupt the moral fiber of the US people. In fact I'll bet on it:) if someone would like to have a real constuctive conversaton on the subject, look me up.

  • Paul rules!!!

  • now i can admit that i am not well informed about the war in Iraq BUT re: USA economy, fighting two open ended wars can not be helping...wish you guys could pull out for your own sake....but like i said i only know the basics about the politics behind the wars...

  • america = fail , anemricas economy is in the crapper this year alone americas gross debt in billions was 12,867.5 canadas was zero , america is in debt to china and france, and STILL is waisting 50+ billion on a loosing war that can never be won ! while at home all this is being waisted and people are still rotting away without proper health care ..

  • What a loser!

  • USA... whoring itself to the condition of a rogue state to sustain their energy security.

And Obama's foreign policy has already become what was Bush. They've been accusing South American countries of supporting terrorism and will built 8 military bases between Brazil and Venezuela - the biggest oil reserves in Southern Hemisphere.

People... have some dignity for Christ sake...

  • rafael

Brazil is nothing more than a third world country filled with corruption and starving children.

Your loser country can't lecture anyone on anything. How many natives will you kill today and how much of the Amazon rain forest will you burn today?

NO one listens to diry, corrupt Brazil.

  • brazil will be the 3rd most powerful

    on earth in 2030

and US will fall to around 9th

  • I do agree with you here. Due to our inability to do what is right, we will fall behind. China, India and possibly Russia will pass us on the way up as we sink into the same style of socialism that they are all leaving behind.

  • Would you rather the Chinese do it than the US? You do realize that it won't be long before they have the same fuel needs that the US does and historically speaking, they haven't been all that soft on their "suppliers".

  • You Yankees should pull out of Iraq and focus on Afghanistan you guys are ruining you economy.

  • Your comment fails!

  • focus on afghanistan?????? are you crackers???? pull out, make deals with the taliban, get rid of the northern alliance and get the hell out. Fighting the Taliban is like fighting sand.

  • Obama gave more money to the auto industry in one fell swoop than Bush spent on the whole Terror War from 9/11 until January of 09. Our economy is all to hell because we opened the flood gates to illegals workers and then, let the unions drive all the jobs off to Mexico.

  • ...thats not what happend...

the illegals workers made alot of money for america

  • Being that I live here and can report first hand, take my word for it. The money that the illegals made for the US went only to the wealthy. The workering class here got ripped off. The prices never dropped even though production costs decreased from underpaying illegals. The worker folks ended have been having to accept less money for the same work and everything costs just as much or more. How is that good for the average American?

  • never said it was good but

i did say its not the immagrents fault

they just want a better life

    as we all would

  • In all honesty, I don't blame them from coming here either. In the same position, I'd make a run for the border as well. Unfortunately, by them doing so and us allowing it, we're assisting in the destruction of the reason we stay and they immigrate. To put it in perspective though, the US allows more legal immigration than all the other nations on Earth combined. Our biggest issue is with the ones that break our laws to come here. A nation without borders is no nation at all.

  • I've said this many times to my friends.. " You CAN NOT give money out, and expect business owners to use that money to stabilise the economy, or create jobs. You can only expect them to use that money to buy a machine that does the job of 10 workers, and save them money by LOWERING the work force, which keeps them from returning that saved money back into the economic pot of cash. They simply hoard it. There is no way of stopping this from happening. they will do it, with or without funding.

  • @Lucidtransition

Yes, because no workers make that machine. It just magically appears.

  • marx twain moment for him in the twilight of the career that defined the american century

  • hes the man

    the man with the plan

  • Professor Krugman, would you please publish ur newest paper on this global financial crisis so we can skip ur lot of babbling stuff and just focus on the economic model u proposed to explain this phenomenon, the model can describe it better I think..Thank you

  • Nader, Baldwin, McKinney... anyone but McBama... anyone honest... for STARTERS....

  • Your a dumb ass if you vote democrat or republican in this country. We need a solid libertarian in this country.

  • excellent video..excellent analysis.

  • yaay! ron paul viva ron paul!!!

  • sad americans dont see this

BLAST THIS ON FOX YOU FUCKERS

  • I hate Bush and his cronies. I thing Bush is an idiot and Cheney was behind most of what happened, but there is no way Bush new about , planned or have any execution in 911

    Vote Obama 08

  • You're just jeleous of Bush.

  • What an articulate and well-thought out response, Mr. Metal Bass Junkie- but what does the word 'JELEOUS' mean- is it related to Jello somehow? OH- did you mean JEALOUS? Oh yeah- that's so true- he's probably SO jealous!

    Friggin IDIOT.

  • Yes he is. He tries to put Bush down because Bush could snort cocaine and get away with it without worrying about the cops.

  • Ha! That's actually really funny! Good one-

  • Not to start a debate but, some people theorize that 911 was actually a premeditated plot created by the government. They state that it's not a war on terror but a war for oil since our countries oil source is depleting. We have oil in Alaska but we'd rather deplete the world's source of oil till virtually America will be the only country with oil. By then the price of oil will fluctuate wildly or so those conspiracy theorists say.

  • ...well it have more understanding that

    the war on terror

it will also keep the americans very wealthy

  • TruthForYouToo,

the fallacy of war helping the economy is similar to TEMPORARILY raise in employment when inflation is higher...

it's only temporary...war never helps the economy in the long term....just remember that

  • it dose if you've got somthing to take

    OIL

  • Every hegemony has ended in the history in mankind. Our turn over. China's up.

  • "burrito" I agree with you - it's unfortunate, but a reality of history and the cycles of civilizations. We didn't last too long compared to say, the Roman Empire, or the Egyptian Dynasties, or the Mongols and Khans. America is but a blip on the timeline of history. I wonder if we can avoid the seeming inevitability of the Fall of the American Empire?

  • indeed history doesnt repeat its self but similar events occur such as the rise of an empire the pinnacle of its power then the down fall

  • all empires fall

the advantage and disadvantage of history by nitzeche best read

    chinas fell too

who wins no one no more games left in the last year of innovation in american civilization

  • do u consider US an empire ?

  • this video is speaking the truth that only people with open mind can exept and not radicals. They are destroying your economy with this kind of policy. Your economy is crumbling, the dollar is falling, and america is losing it's power. Wake up!!!

  • I tried to comment on this video, and I was within the maximum character count, but my comments were not posted. What gives?

  • I hate Bush, the neo-cons and the Iraq War, but doesn't war help parts of our economy in its support of the the war effort, even if the war is illegal and immoral? Think of all the weapons, machines and logistical services that come into play in a war like Iraq. What would all the war workers and soldiers do if we were at peace? It's the greedy and immoral corporate executives that have ruined our economy. They shot themselves in the foot so to speak. He appears to be bright and honest.

  • That's true, and actually Krugman admits this in one of his latest columns. However, the economic gains from war are usually short-run gains.

  • no, broxen window fallacy

    war doesnt help

    never helps

    trade, yes

    war-just murder

  • Enabling each other is a form of trading confidence. Not going into other people mind, that let them think and rethink, is a virtual of enabling. You intie yourselves by freeing other people.

  • i imagine you are saying this in reference to US Civil war

as an act of liberation or simon bolivar liberating south america from spain

but what happened to simon bolivar, died a dictator, sad and alone

george washington, same, both glorified after death, enshrined as heroes, as abe lincoln, but all led lives with depression, anger and reprehension of not being able to control everything

why is that, war can be disillusioning process as ww1 ww2 xoreas and especially vietnam vets found out

  • @8data trade yes, agree. but the corporations that rule this world, are not retooling energy away from fossil fuels. to be safe, it would be best to start setting up self sufficient cities that micro manufactures all its goods, necessities(like medicines), grows its own food, etc. of course trade will be the selling of the technology, patents, etc between self sufficient municipal or geographically larger rural self sufficient areas. modern wind driven ships could continue some goods trade.

  • Thank You Paul.

  • He builds a devastating case. Krugman is one of our precious few truth tellers. Keep going strong bro.

  • He's a very sexy man.

  • is he married, seems so pleasant, he must have children, he seems such a good hearted guy, all those people came to see him

  • He is married and has kids. :-(

  • yes, his daughter's name is Hillary Rodham Clinton!

  • OH HE SEEMS SOOO NICE ..PUKE !!!!

  • @mosfonotoc please don't use "truth",that word is damaged by the truther movements

  • @SeeProfileForDetails what instead of "truth"? - reality?
