haha, I was just going to put that I found out where this is sampled from. I was so stoked to find out too. I thought I was the first person ever. haha. Harry Nilsson is so weird.
@Greggo2 Gift of Gab is amazing. Back in 2000, I saw a show with Blackilicious and Del after NIA had just dropped. Blackalicious at that show was better than Del, at least he got the crowd more engaged and his flow was ill.
@2222busdriver i feel you on this but i'm a true hiphop fan it the only music beside the old school that i put on my computer and those who don't like don't have to listen to it more good music for me
His beats solid and his flow is fuckin amazing-and all whilst being clean at the same time(I do like shit with profanity though) throw some Wu-tang or N.W.A. Ghetto Boyz, Comptons Most Wanted with some T.C.Q or some Public Enemy-Oh hell yeah
Harry Nilsson is who he sampled off by the way. I really think you should all check out the original Nilsson song. It's actually got a decent hip hop beat on it's own. Both Geniuses.
@HeyImKli4d - saw a documentary on Nilsson and he is a class act - genius and brillaint artist - it was no wonder he later worked with the Beatles and John Lennon moreso.
DEAR GOD! My sister gave me this album long long ago but I never really listened to it- I'm French and I didn't speak English well enough at the time to understand a thing on it :) Now I'm just getting so addicted, this is amazing!
i refuse to accept rap as a "skill" anyone that can talk can rap. there's no REAL skill in rapping, just writing a rhyme & practicing it.
DJing (cutting/scratching/juggling etc.), b-boying, & writing graffiti ALL are REAL skills that not everyone can do well and take a lot of work to master.
rap was the LAST element of hip-hop on the scene, but took over everything. i hate rap. you never hear stuff like chinese arithmatic & pump up the volume since rap ruined hip-hop forever
i'm here because i love the beat, used it in my "battle disc" so DJs can mix it, and WAS going to add it to my favorites until i heard yet another rapper stinking a song up by opening his big attitude mouth.
tell the public you hate rap and it's attitude and what do you get? more attitude every time.
deal with people hating what you like why don't you?
it's the same bullshit as trying to find the instrumental to "echo leader" by musicians with ACTUAL talent. try to get to something with real MUSICAL worth, and all you get is a bunch of useless punk ass rappers running their mouths when they don't even fucking know that REAL hip-hop is POSITIVE and about ending gang violence etc. but all these lil bitches stole hip-hop and dragged it back to the gutter.
when was the last time you heard a DJ on a record or an MC say the word PEACE? fuck that!
i was b-boying in '83 before rap ruined hip-hop. i was there when the positive energy was STOLEN by scumbags with big mouths bragging about their 9s, money & ho's
i still believe in hip-hop (POSITIVITY) and no punk ass thug is ever going to take that away from me or get ANY respect for it.
learn your history & ask DJs, b-boys & graf artists what THEY think of crappers coming to the party after it already started, grabbed the mic & running their mouths.
@djgambitron ur dumb cunt not anyone can rap evry1 can talk but u cnt just write poems and be this gd plus wat about his freestyles some of them r sick an u cnt just say he practices them so evry1 can do them cos there freetyle
@djgambitron If I understand correctly which I doubt I do seeing how you're making no sense at all, you're saying that Gift of Gab raps about money, hoes, and guns? Someone needs to do a backround check because last time I checked blackalicious was about good vibes and rhymes which is one part of hip hop thats important. Don't believe that blackalicious has a message? Check out make ya feel that way, sounds positive to me, just saying.
@djgambitron realize blues was in america long before we were born. many mainstream artists took southern blues and commercialized it at radio stations. soul rose with the rise of afrcan american presence in america. funk evolved from this new aspect of liberation of minorities especially afro mericans within the music industry, but before that, disco fucked that up and became present. hip hop was an offshoot of that and was almost a cry against that. new shit will always come in and out
@djgambitron take it easy, rap didnt "ruin" anything, hip hop is never "ruined" fucktard, just because a couple teenagers dress like the rainbows and make a song for dancing dont mean its the end of the fucking world, keep in tune with the radiowaves and vibrations made by real hip hop artists doing it to this day.
oh and blame the lust of man for money, not rap. i bet your favourite mc is good at rapping, which is rap technically.
@djgambitron ask little richard what he thinks of elvis(and everyone else) biting his style. we would be no where with-out people using/stealing others music. hip-hop was born from the music before, just adapted to the individual. capitalism was the near death of hip-hop.money will always fuck something up, for sure if it was grand to begin with, but where are we now? great artist are rarely realize in their time. piss on all this mainstream rap,... then again, who am i to say........
@djgambitron I know what you mean totally. I'm only 16, but I take time to study music. The only music I like that brags like that, is the No Limit stuff. (1998-1999). Before 1998, they told alot of crime stories. Well more like 1990-1996 was crime stories, and a little in 1997.
Its ridiculous how awesome gift of gab is!!!! I'm happy there is still a few musicians out there doing real hip hop. Gift of gab and busdriver should do some music together.... that would be the best combo for me!!!!
I live in Sacramento Cali, where all these idiots praise a retard called Mac Dre =(

I can go on for days with hip hop that has talent.
@Zombyrider it is sad to see that people are losing there sense for good music, all of those artist you listed and more will keep hip hop alive forever!!!
if anyone is interested, the samples in this song are taken from "the point", a crazy movie make in the 60's i think and is basically about a world where everything has a point to it (literally) except for one boy who has no point and sent away to the pointless forest
its full of obvious references to racism and general lifestyle choices and is one of my favorite childhood movies
i found this record in an abandoned crack house ..unopened 2002 ben harper jarassic 5 freakn awsm the cops boarded it up shortly after but there are still 100s of records in the house

if anyone is interested, the samples in this song are taken from "the point", a crazy movie make in the 60's i think and is basically about a world where everything has a point to it (literally) except for one boy who has no point and sent away to the pointless forest
its full of obvious references to racism and general lifestyle choices and is one of my favorite childhood movies

Underrate: To rate too low; underestimate.
You have to have heard the song to underrate it. I know few people who don't like it upon hearing it.

It's not underrated, just unheard of.
