ya im more about the sound lol did u no that the excel was made for 3 years for the racing people its 225 at the head and 240 at the prop bone stock if u do mods u can get up to 320 horse, what problems r u havin

Sounds like that was more or less an easy fix for you. My engine is bone stock. No mods at all. I'm more into reliability than loud, or getting that extra 2 mph. I like the quietness of the Yamaha. That's one of the reasons I bought it. It's our second summer with the boat and we're really liking it.

im out in muskoka and it was the oil tank there was no vent on the tank i also changed all the gas and oil plugs put a water sep in and changed the water pump, how long have u had the boat and engine for any mods this engine has a low water pic up and bored exust or is it just mine lol

well since i got the same engine as u maybe u mite no whats wrong with my yamaha starts great but when i plan off it wont go over 3tho rpm and when it does catch rpms r low and they dont pick up untill im trimed out and all i hear is like a crackling sounds any ideas what it could be and did u hit 80 yet i was on gps radar im at 85 what kind of chopper u got on it

Hi Star - The 3000 RPM limit sounds like it could be the a problem with the oil injection system. the computer will shut you down if it thinks there is not enough oil.
Haven't hit 80 yet. I'm having some engine issues myself, so I'm only running about 72 or so right now.
Where are you located?
Don't see to many Excels out there - never mind see one on a DL.
I saw one for sale on Kijiji a while ago - was that you?

bout 78 mph last year. Shooting for 80 this year with more setback on a better jackplate.
