hey guys, I have an idea. Instead of watching this video for its entertainment/kick ass value, we can just talk about fighting styles, mma, and everything else thats unrelated. Oh wait, you guys already started doing that
And to further elaborate on what @DrewJ16 was talking about. The art or style is irrelevant, the better martial artist will win the majority of the time. And Bruce Lee believed that the highest of all styles was no style at all. He believed if you followed one style you were restricting yourself and therefore could never reach your full potential. He has been quoted saying that he did not consider Jeet Kune Do to be a style.
@DavidBlanch0 Yes, the one and only! A few others who have "CA" tend to not split all the way out right in the middle, or mis align it. I saw him do this in 2000 and it was perfect just like this. He's light years ahead
DanSterling is nothing more than a great gymnast. If you think this is martial arts, then get him in a cage...he will probably run. Sorry Dan. You're a freakin rip off
This is only the acrobatic side of martial arts, not self-defense. However, these "fancy" moves can indirectly help your agility, speed, power and precision. Your confusing MMA or whatever your thinking of with this.
your confusing the concept of this. this martial art of xma, tricking, or wutever you call it is a performance based martial arts its not meant to fight with, you dont see anyone sparring throwing corks in the ring and that is because it meant to perform with and show flashy moves like any other form
I have no problem with the art but the fact that he threw his gi on the ground. There is major history on the uniform. It even gets to the point where people have died for wearing a karate uniform. To me, throwing it on the ground shows major disrespect to the ones who died for wearing it. Please respect the uniform and the history of martial arts.
you are such a faggot dude, dont dwell on the past. everyone dies for a cause so that we dont have to worry about it now. i dont even know why i bother
its extreme martial arts, its for show, i still can't beleive how many of you people bash this stuff, of course it is not meant for fighting...but it shows the ART, something a lot of "fighters" forget about.
you ppl make me sick. you exploit the martial arts as something cheerleaders would use in a dance off!!! martial arts was not created to be used like that. its so twisted and wrong. ppl like u give the martial arts a bad name. its sickening. the martial arts were created to protect whats important to you with all your strength. the training you go through every day isn't for the purpose of...I don't even know what to call this shit!! It's a dance! how pathetic...
its performance jackass, do you think this is all they do? no, daniel sterling doesn't only do this "cheerleading" he teaches martial arts meaning he does all the stuff including self defense. twisted and wrong? wow, you can't be serious, all you people who think this is disrespect to martial arts need to go die...sterling and all these other people who you call "dancers" could break you in half.
how can millions of kids and instructors be wrong? there is no explotation here daniel is just as involved in traditional forms as he is in extreme. no one would agree that this gives the martial arts a bad name as long as people arent claiming it to be street self defense. a lot of martial arts can be discarded as useless in practical situations its also an art form. this is just expanding the bodys capabilities. jacki chan shouldnt do movies is what your saying.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you cant use 90 percent of the bull shit traditional martial arts teaches in a fight. a boxer would fuck your ass up, or a wrestler. royce gracie tapped out all of the ''KARATE'' people who though just like you. i could fuck you up cuz i do brazilian jiu jitsu, practical, but i also do xma for fun so shut your mouth cunt bitch before i put my dick in it and bust a load down your throat then tell you to make me a sandwich hahahaha
if anyone has a problem with respect its you. daniel is a very accomplished traditional martial artist. and he has done more for martial arts than you ever will. the gi top doesnt have feelings so when you throw it on the floor its not so bad. your just a crazybitch27
dude you saying that your style is so much better then everyone elses. i do xma and five other styles. just stop swaaring cause you sound more stupid then you are smart.
bjj is better than other styles. in every instance you put a grapler with the same amount of experience and often less experience he will beat the karate man. all martial arts require you to be standing. so if your on your back you cant utilize your techniques. and to say you wont get taken down is just foolish.
that just meens you can only fight on the ground. i do ju jitsu to kid. i have for nine years. and ur only learning halph the battle. stop boasting and start taking other peoples point of view.
You can't rank which martial arts is better. That's like saying which religion is better. Fact of the matter is, there is no "high" art and all arts are equal. If anything, it's about respect, discipline and other attributes which is attained through different means, but with similar philosophical commonalities.
all martial arts are not created equal becuase they are created by men with faults. its assanign to suggest that every martial arts is equally effective
You completely misunderstood me. I am merely stating that it is equal in terms of philosophical values regardless of martial styles. I have many friends in different arts and I have tried their arts. All of different, but when it comes down to it, each has similar codes of honor to obey, and that is where equality comes into play.
I got what you were saying the first time, man. haha A lot of people do have the misconception that there is one art out there superior to the others, and, you're right, there's not one! Just depends on how smart you are.
martial arts and religion, what a terrible comparison. although the person is a very important variable not all martial arts are created equally. this is becuase men created them and men have flaws and ideas that are appropriate for a culture or a specific period of time. if mike tyson learned tai chi instead and fought lenox lewis do you think he would beat him? brazilian jiu jitsu is more effective against other styles becuase of math and science
If martial arts and religion are nominal variables, then you can not rank which is greater, that's the logic. No martial arts practitioner fawns themselves with their style and wants to beat the crap out of another person with a different style. If you do that, then you've violated the most sacred rule: respect. That is why you can never rank them. Check out Bruce Lee's comments on which martial arts is "higher" per se.
"No martial arts practitioner fawns themselves with their style and wants to beat the crap out of another person with a different style"
You jackass what do you think the UFC was all about in the beginning?? it was style vs style. not to disrespect anyone but to continue what man has been doing since the beginning of time, compete. the gracies were out to show the effectiveness of bjj against other styles like wing chun, tae kwon do, and boxing and guess what? The grapplers beat everyone.
Jackass? Wow I thought as a fellow martial artist you would have more respect than that. I should've known. Again, I disagree. UFC fighters may compete against each other other, but they never say "my art is better than theirs" to that effect. You can not rank martial arts - that logic is completely flawed - there is no high art.
its not completely flawed what is wrong with you did you go to college???? physics are not flawed unlike men who created martial arts. depending on the culture it can be very irrelevant to what is happening today. times change. martial arts were often created to combat the same styles. boxing doesnt do well against wrestling do you agree or not????
It is very flawed. You are ranking martial arts as if one style is more effective than the other - that's the fallacy. How can you say one style is better if each is different? Once again, if you're gonna make an argument attack the issue rather than the person because it deters your argument such as using "jackass" or "did you go go to college?" Remember, Bruce Lee didn't believe their's a kung fu or karate way of fighting.
I totally agree with DrewJ16. Martial arts have the basic rule of respect. UFC fighters only teach you to fight - they have no real principles like traditional martial arts. If fact, martial arts teaches you not to fight. And to say that BJJ is more effective is a problem because what that shit won't work if he's fighting against two or more people.
@CuriousGeorge53142 True and people who say "That wont work in a fight!" are just not thinking critically. In a real life, he is supposed to only fight you with cartwheels and fancy kicks? These guys are martial artists and dont only fight with flip kicks. Alot of tricksters learn mma as well.
